AutoWash Dock Saves the Day
on July 17, 2025

First Impressions
At a glance, the Roomba Plus 505 Combo Robot appears to be high-class, premium, and well-designed, but once you touch and see it up close, you'll find it was a grand cost-cutting illusion. Yet all plastic, it is all well-made, and I don't worry about the build. The luxurious, textured patterns with a copper-accented logo, juxtaposed against smooth, glossy, and matte finishes, make for a truly pleasing and modern aesthetic that blends seamlessly with any home. The tanks are easy to remove and refill, thanks to sealed clipping lids. Setup is easy and self-directed, but a manual would have been beneficial.
What You Get
You will find an impressive floor cleaning machine that is intelligent, efficient, and seamlessly integrates into any smart home. A machine that handles floor mopping, sweeping, and vacuuming chores to lighten your load around the house. All carpets remain dry and clean, while all hard floors are washed and vacuumed daily for a fresh feel. Now, clean your floors once a week or every other week, just as you would typically, and this is considered maintenance in between. The box includes the robot, the AutoWash dock, an extra bag for the auto-empty feature, an extra set of mop pads, and the power cord. Everything comes in a neatly packaged box with no space or room for things to wiggle around.
Setup Experience 4/5
After you've unpacked and placed everything, head to the App Store and download the Roomba app. You can fill the water tank, connect the magnetic floor mops, and prepare the vacuum for charging. Once it is plugged in and aligned with the charger, you will hear instructions to guide you. Find a space for the base and the robot near an outlet. Create a Roomba account, add your robot, name your robot, update the firmware, and then let it map the area. Very intuitive and straightforward to use. During setup, the app became stuck during the firmware update, and I had to close and reopen it to return to a functional state. Once I reopened the app, everything was easy to figure out and set up.
App and Smart Features 4/5
The app is the newest upgrade, improving Roomba's overall experience. They have now addressed part of my issue with them, their OLD app. Roomba can still be seen as lagging in terms of technology and implementation here. Still, they are finally showing up with a respectable app and performance results on multi-surface areas. The app enables control and automation with virtual barriers and no-go zones, keeping things within your limits and helping you stay in control. Link it to your smart home and let this thing shine with voice commands for messes. It breaks rooms into zones and furniture as best it can. Helpful, but can be tedious due to the need for multiple taps to remove them and the inability to change them. Schedule cleaning daily by zones, rooms, or furniture. At night, a small headlight illuminates the front of the vacuum. The AI camera allows it to identify things on the floor that Lidar may miss. It is a bit loud at night on higher suction settings, so you WILL hear when it is mopping as it spins.
How Well Does It Map? 4/5
AI Mapping was done quickly compared to other vacuums. It didn't bump into things like a drunk bumblebee bouncing from flower to flower; it was just a quick drive to each corner of the room, and the floor was mapped. It runs very smoothly, and the app is very detailed. It has settings and a path history on the floor.
Obstacles are auto-flagged and learned using AI, and you can view them on the map in the cleaning history. Your cleaning history is logged, complete with travel path, start/end times, along with the floor plan and various lines marking the path taken while mopping and vacuuming. Once labeled, it remembers rather than reviews. Remove the obstacle after it is recognized, and watch it still avoid it. If this issue is resolved, it would significantly enhance the robot's efficiency, improve AI capabilities, and conserve battery.
The rooms are auto-segmented, and the app attempts to place furniture and equipment to make the floor plan easier to refer to when cleaning. You can clean furniture and equipment like a refrigerator. In my kitchen, it automatically placed a sofa and an entertainment center after a few cleanings based on the appliances recognized on the counter. This includes two rectangular glass panels on the counter, a convection oven, and an air fryer next to it. The sofa, though, is befuddling, which is why I'm curious to see how this thing is trained and what influence, if any, we/the app have on the algorithm.
Navigation Issues That Bug Me 3/5
Once it passes and maps an obstacle or object, it assumes it is permanently there. Looking at the cleaning history, I can see that it took some unnecessary paths, as though it was curious. Logically, not smart, but hey, it's AI learning my home. It appeared to be scared and ran from the living room. It would be working in the living room, but all of a sudden go to the kitchen, then return to the living room after it saw what it was looking for? Quite peculiar; I'm curious what it's doing or what it sees in AI, causing it to return to an already completed part of the floor.
How It Actually Cleans 4/5
The vacuum has strong suction - they claim it's 70 times more powerful than their 600 series robots, and I can definitely tell the difference. It handles everything from crumbs to pawprints without issue. The mopping works well for daily maintenance, though don't expect it to replace your deep cleaning routine. The mop pads extend coverage by 18% compared to regular ones, and the mop extends from the robot body to touch the wall for edge-to-edge cleaning. SmartScrub mode provides extra attention to tougher spots. This feature is ACTUALLY good and cleans floors extremely well by applying pressure on hardwoods and floors. The AutoWash dock is where this thing shines. It auto-empties for up to 75 days and handles mop pad washing for up to 4 weeks. The dock continuously refreshes the pads and even has heated drying. Way less maintenance than other robots I've used, and for this, I can highly recommend it. I have to empty the dirty water tank every three days because we double-mop the floor after it is vacuumed.
Smart Floor Detection 4/5
This is capable of handling all floors and rugs, as well as any combination thereof. With the array of sensors, it knows when it's on a floor and when it's on a carpet. I have a long runner in the kitchen that goes in front of the cabinet by the sink, and it stops mopping when it gets over that part of the floor once it's off the carpet. It then knows it can spin the mops again safely and will continue mopping the floor. When it encounters a corner or something similar, it never gets stuck; it just pushes its way back down flat. I recommend vacuuming first and then mopping to ensure the mops are dry on the carpet, but that is anecdotal, and there were no actual issues.
Things to Know (Personal Experience)
-Hair is an issue on the roller still, so you will need to take time and clear it out. Other vacuums have added things to remove and cut the hair, but this one does not.
-It was very loud during the mapping, sounding like a piece of paper was stuck somewhere. I suspect it's the rubber roller. After a few uses, it became quieter, but it's a fact that when the mops are engaged, the noise level is louder than just vacuuming.
-One night, it got stuck and said the cliff sensors needed to be cleaned. It was dead, and I had to charge it. Once it was charged and I restarted it, it worked fine again. The robot sensors were clean, so I'm unsure what happened there, but I must report it nonetheless.
-The app needs more "furniture" options. Currently, it mislabels items because the library is too small. Hopefully, more will be added so we can further fine-tune the cleaning ability with voice and app automations.
- The dock is pretty big, so make sure you have space!
Things that Need Improvement
-Should have a manual included in the box. QR is ok, but many users will prefer the manual.
-Wetness control or sensors so the robot knows when it's time to spray more, rather than going off sq ft.. cleaned.
-Use LIDAR and AI camera to rescan areas for obstacles throughout cleaning.
-Sometimes it has curious navigation behavior - returns to already cleaned areas for unclear reasons, does nothing, then returns to cleaning.
Bottom Line 4/5 OVERALL
This is a solid robot vacuum and mop combo with decent performance that'll handle your daily floor maintenance with minimal fuss, thanks to that AutoWash dock. The suction power is definitely there, and the mop coverage is better than most. There are navigation issues, and the high price holds it back from being great. The navigation quirks can be annoying, hair collects on the roller if you have long-haired residents, and it's louder when mopping. If there are more than 1-2 people with long hair or animals, this will require frequent maintenance at the roller to prevent tangles. I am not sure why they didn't add a mechanism like others. Here's the thing, though - the price is quite steep! I wouldn't recommend this at full price, but it might be worth considering on sale for under $700. At full retail, there are better options available for the money, although this is a good machine. Perfect for busy households with mixed flooring who want to set it and forget it, but wait for a sale. Skip this if you have a lot of pet hair, require quiet operation, or frequently move furniture around during cleaning.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Half round profile of D-Line Raceway blends with d~cor for a neat solution to hide surface cables. One-piece design, flexible hinged lid, and self-adhesive backing result in a quick easy solution to conceal cables. Great for covering 1-3 wall mounted TV cords or to hide wires above baseboards, with the profile appearing as the natural top section.

Bye Spaghetti Monster - No More Cables
on July 7, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
Are you tired of that mess of cables hanging behind your wall-mounted TV since you didn't want to add an outlet? How about the mess of cables in your entertainment center or console, where all your wires stretch down to the floor? This is for you if you're ready to make a change and take control of your wire management, employing a paintable and tidy solution like the D-Line half-round cord cover. It is very easy to use, cut, and install. There is no need for a special tool; a solid standard pair of scissors will suffice, or a utility knife if you are in a pinch. You can mount it on a wall, on the floor, under a desk, or anywhere the sticky tape will hold, but you have wires that look like a spaghetti mess. Even without the sticky tape, you can leave the cables in the channel and make a better appearance.
Installation is simple. First, perform a test run to verify that the cables fit and hold securely to the wall or area where you intend to mount them. Run your thumb along the inside of the D channel and pry it open. You will see there is enough pressure, and it is strong and flexible enough to close around your cables, assuming they fit. I inserted three HDMI cables and a power cable into the channel without issue. Now, you are ready to install. Measure and cut if necessary, then peel and place to finalize the installation. **TIP: Leave the channel open when installing so you can apply pressure to the bottom without pressing down on the curved cover. For the best look, I recommend painting it to make it less noticeable and camouflaged**. This is what I did, and I love it more!
In all, it was simple to install, concealed and managed the cables well, and brought tidiness to a place that looked like the spaghetti monster's lair. With this, you can easily hide cables and save money without cutting drywall or installing new outlets in areas such as entertainment centers, wall-mounted TVs, and around network devices like routers and modems, thereby saving both time and money. It's ideal for apartment or dorm living, for renters and homeowners who lack wall outlets, and for addressing business or homeowners' safety concerns. In short, this is a buy for anyone who hates seeing wires…period!

Game Over, Belt Drives: MOZA R5 Bundle for the WIN
on July 6, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
MOZA has cracked the code on affordable direct drive without cutting corners, and honestly, I'm impressed. This bundle delivers performance that rivals setups costing nearly twice as much. Everything arrives well-packaged in a hefty 30-pound box that immediately signals quality.
You get the complete entry-level racing sim package: R5 wheelbase, ES steering wheel, SRP Lite racing pedals, and an R5 table clamp. No shifter or clutch included, but that just gives you your first upgrade target. **Pro tip: buy the brake kit immediately - you'll thank me later.** If you're building a rig, consider using adapter plates, as there's no standardized hole pattern yet.
First Impressions
In gameplay, the response feels nearly instantaneous with zero noticeable latency. The force feedback makes every road surface and tire slip feel real. However, the pedals definitely feel like the budget component here - they're light and engage with minimal pressure. The brake upgrade kit isn't optional if you want a realistic feel.
Coming from a belt-driven competitor, the difference is massive. The 5.5nm direct drive delivers feedback and detail that makes hybrid systems feel like toys. Plus, there's a phone app for adjustments without alt-tabbing out of games - a brilliant feature.
Setup 5/5
Setup couldn't be simpler. Even without instructions, everything's intuitive thanks to clear labeling. I was plugged in and downloading PitHouse software within 5 minutes.
The process is straightforward:
• Mount the base to the desk clamp with four screws
• Connect power cable and other connections, then USB to link everything
• Snap the wheel on (arrow facing 12 o'clock position)
• Remove BOTH black plastic covers from wheel and base to expose pogo pins
**Pro tip: No wheel input? Check that you removed both plastic covers - learned that one the hard way.**
For rig mounting, your mileage may vary since there's no standard hole pattern. Get creative if needed.
Build Quality 4.5/5
The 13-inch wheel feels smaller than expected, but it is premium in construction. Despite its compact footprint, the base delivers 84W peak power and 5.5Nm torque through 15-bit resolution at 1kHz USB polling rate. This translates to incredibly detailed feedback.
Everything's built with aluminum, leather, and steel - minimal plastic in sight. The build quality screams durability, and I have no doubt this will last while giving me room to grow with accessories.
Desk Mount 4/5
This might be my favorite feature. Two twist knobs let you go from racing to work mode in seconds - everything slides right off the desk. I wish they'd used quick-release mechanisms like my toolbox C-clamps for even faster setup, but it works great as-is.
The quick-release wheel system brings back memories of MOMO and Sparco setups. With creativity and MOZA accessories, you can adapt almost any steering wheel. It clamps securely on desks up to 2 inches thick with minimal movement, even with just my mousepad for grip.
MOZA ES Steering Wheel 4/5
Classic MOMO-style quick-release with 22 programmable buttons, shift light, and aluminum frame wrapped in hand-stitched leather. It handles everything from F1 to drifting to GT racing beautifully once you dial in settings through PitHouse or the phone app. Everything's ready with just a few taps.
MOZA SRP Lite Pedals 3/5
Here's where the budget shows. They're aircraft-grade aluminum but surprisingly lightweight compared to the substantial wheelbase. The default spacing is ridiculously wide - more arcade-style where you use left foot for brake, right for gas. I moved them closer for realism, but this introduces wobble since there's no bottom spacer.
The pedal pressure is weak out of the box, making MOZA's brake upgrade kit practically mandatory. They use Hall-effect magnetic sensors for precision, but you'll definitely want to bolt them down or they'll slide around. A stability plate would've been a smart inclusion.
Software and Customizability 4.5/5
Download PitHouse from MOZA's site and the mobile app from your app store.
**Chinese language fix**: If the software defaults to Chinese, click the second icon from the bottom-left, then select English from the dropdown at the top. While you're there, enable DPI Scaling and Dark Mode for an enhanced experience with the interface.
Update everything through the firmware manager before calibrating. Game presets serve as time-savers, although you'll still need to fully customize the buttons. Assetto Corsa Competizione worked great with presets, but the original Assetto Corsa needed manual button mapping. The software gives you complete control over pressure curves and programming.
What I Love
+ MOZA App lets you adjust settings without leaving games
+ Magnetic quick-release system
+ Long-term growth potential in the MOZA ecosystem
+ Premium materials throughout (aluminum, leather, steel)
+ Easy upgrade path within R-Series
+ Incredibly detailed force feedback
+ Outstanding value - performs way above its price point
Needs Improvement
- PC only - no native console support (third-party adapters exist but spoof other products)
- Brake upgrade kit feels mandatory, but costs extra
- Two-pedal realistic positioning causes instability without a clutch
- Pedals feel cheap compared to the wheelbase quality
Final Thoughts and Verdict 4.5/5
This is hands-down the entry-level direct drive setup to get. It's not for casual gamers or console-only players, but if you're serious about PC sim racing, this delivers direct drive performance without breaking the bank.
Skip belt-driven systems entirely and save up for this - the performance difference is night and day. The upgrade path is smart, too. As you become more serious, you can add pedals, wheels, shifters, and even upgrade the base while retaining all your existing accessories. MOZA has built something special here - an affordable direct drive that doesn't feel like a compromise.

1080p60 Budget Beast
on May 26, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
First Thoughts and Impressions 5/5
The Game Capture Neo is pretty impressive as an entry-level recorder and is a standout as the first all-white streamer on the market for those who have white gaming setups. It matches the PS5 aesthetic and my white PC perfectly. I feel it's optimized for the budget 1080p PC streamer; however, it does provide a true zero-lag 4K passthrough for console players with a few caveats. The setup is quick and in under 5 minutes you can install the software and connect the cables. Make three connections: 2 HDMI and 1 USB-C, and you are ready to capture. Elgato once again has delivered a streaming product affordable for the masses. Their commitment to eco-friendly products and packaging is continued with this release with the body made of 60% recycled plastic, and the packaging is all cardboard and plastic-free.
The Hardware 4/5
The Game Capture Neo is a high performer and aesthetically pleasing offering 4K passthrough up to 4K60 in HDR or SDR, 1440p60 in HDR or SDR, and up to 1080p120 in HDR and SDR. However, it is important to know that it strips any ARC support from your display or soundbar and restricts your 4K HDMI 2.1 capabilities essentially rendering your high-end display or nice display or TV with VRR & 4K120 into a basic HDMI 2.0 port. You also don't get 1440p120, so this downgrades your gameplay on consoles.
If you're aim is to stream at 1080p60 on console with a basic 4K display or TV, this is perfect. However, if you want to take advantage of all your display's HDMI 2.1 features, then you need to look elsewhere for a more robust 4K passthrough option. With that said, 4K passthrough to the display is lag-free, however, there is quite a bit of latency to the streaming PC you are capturing on, with about .5 second delay between TV and stream monitor.
Setup and Troubleshooting 5/5
Elgato provides a plethora of support for those new to streaming or needing troubleshooting common issues. If you are stuck setting up OBS or coming across issues with connecting consoles or audio missing from stream, there are exceptional guides to help. Their video library of troubleshooting guides is excellent and worth a shoutout - great work Elgato! Be sure to review and adhere to the bitrates required by your streaming platform - a quick search will get that information you need for optimal uploads and performance on stream.
Capturing and File Creation 4/5
Elgato's 4K Capture is incredibly intuitive and user-friendly with file management is excellent. Files are organized perfectly with m4a audio files for commentary, the game, and .aaf & .json files alongside your .mp4 stream file - all neatly arranged in a single folder for each recording. With tags and labels, organization is simple and allowing you to easily find things when searching through your library.
Recordings are done in 8-bit 1080p60 YUV (4:2:0) color space wrapped in H.264/AVC containers using BT.709. I wish 4:4:4 RGB was an option to make scaling up better, but you can scale your 1080p footage in OBS using YUY2 (4:2:0) up to 1440p. The uncompressed footage is vibrant and beautifully captured; however I saw a lot of screen tearing due to the lack of VRR support.
Additionally, Elgato has created an iPad app for additional functionality, so check the list to see if yours is supported! This makes streaming easier, and you don't need to have another screen. The app is only available in the Apple App Store, so Android users are left out requiring a PC to stream. If you use USB headphones, you must remove them from the loop if you want to capture audio. Unfortunately, there isn't a workaround for this at the moment. PS3 owners, this does not work at all due to perpetual HDCP restrictions enacted by Sony with no way to turn it off, while PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5, and PS5 Pro must disable HDCP in settings to display a feed or record.
[+] Pros [+]
+Stupidly simple to set up and use.
+No fees or subscriptions required.
+Captures vibrant and accurate uncompressed 1080p video.
+Nice aesthetics and only white offering I've seen.
+Perfect for PC users who make tutorials, simply put this device in-line with your monitor from your HDMI out port and you get stunning capture for use at a later time.
[-] Cons [-]
-Limited to 1080p60 w/o VRR potentially leading to lots of screen tearing.
-Currently only iPad Capture App is available. No Android App yet which I hope will change in the future.
-No ports for audio and it adds a layer of work in post to add commentary.
-USB headphones are not supported and removes audio from your recordings.
-No RGB 4:4:4 for higher quality, I would really like to see that added.
-ARC fails when the Game Capture Neo is plugged in. Keep your TV/Display remote nearby for input swaps.
-Even though the software allows you to select 4K60, unsupported options should be removed from the drop box for streamlining things and clean the interface up.
[=] Final Thoughts and the Verdict [=] 4/5
In summary, if you are a PC 1080p60 streamer, the Game Capture Neo will effortlessly meet your needs. However, I highly recommend the HD60x if you play consoles. While it requires a computer, it is more than capable of handling your basic 1080p streaming needs. The software itself is extremely basic and would greatly benefit from AI features to create clips for highlights like wins and kills. I like the all-white aesthetics with minimal branding and a high-quality white USB-A to USB-C cable to handle data recording to your PC.

The TRANSFORMER!
on May 25, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
First Impressions
As a gamer who enjoys FPS and PvP shooters like Call of Duty and Fortnite, I find the HyperX Pulsefire Saga Pro an excellent addition to my gaming setup. I’ve nicknamed this lightweight wireless mouse the “Transformer” because it uses magnets and swappable modular components. It feels great in the hand and glides smoothly, providing the performance, ergonomics, and comfort needed for long gaming sessions, complete with a long-lasting battery. This professional-grade mouse exudes high quality, ensuring you won’t be disappointed with its agility during gameplay. The optical switches and buttons deliver a satisfying click, which feels very premium. You can always expect high standards from HyperX; this product is no exception.
Setup and Unboxing 5/5
In the box, you'll find the HyperX Pulsefire Saga Pro, a USB 4K wireless dongle, a dongle extension adapter, a USB-C to USB-A HyperFlex 2 cable, grip strips, spare mouse skates, two button covers, two shells, two side button pairs, and a Quick Start Guide. Everything is neatly packaged, and the shipping process was smooth. You can choose between 2.4 GHz wireless or Bluetooth connectivity, but you also have the option to connect via a wired USB cable. All setups are quick and straightforward, and it works seamlessly on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5. If you have an Omen laptop, you can enjoy Instant Pairing without needing a separate transmitter!
Customization 4/5
Next, you can customize the mouse to fit your preferences. The tool-free modular design is the standout feature, and numerous files are available on Printables that you can print or modify yourself if you own a 3D printer. I opted for the scooped clickers, aggressive styling for the palm plate, and the tallest side buttons for my setup. Additionally, the included high-performance grip tape enhances the overall feel. Weighing in at around 72g, this mouse allows quick or sweeping motions without struggling. Whatever your gaming needs may be, this mouse has got you covered! You can download the customization software from the Microsoft Store to fine-tune your settings, including buttons, presets, and lighting. The HyperX NGENUITY software allows further customization of DPI settings, button assignments, and RGB lighting. However, it is currently only available for Windows, which may be a limitation for Mac users.
Performance and Handling 5/5
The Pulsefire Saga Pro is equipped with the HyperX 26K sensor, which boasts a maximum polling rate of 4,000Hz, ensuring precise tracking and responsiveness without any debounce or delays. In fast-paced shooters, every millisecond counts, and this mouse excels. The HyperX Optical Switches provide tactile feedback, ensuring each click registers accurately while benefiting from laser actuation and NVIDIA Reflex validation for optimized system latency!
Battery Life & Connectivity 5/5
The impressive battery life lasts up to 90 hours on a single charge in 1,000Hz mode. Even in the higher 4,000Hz polling mode, it holds up for around 30 hours, sufficient for several gaming sessions. Connectivity options include 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth 5.0, and Instant Pair for compatible Omen laptops, providing flexibility across devices. Battery life has not been a concern; I've used it for over a week on a single charge.
[+] Pros [+]
- Reliable performance and connectivity. I experienced no drops or interference while using the 2.4GHz mode, and Bluetooth was solid.
- The modular design is user-friendly; magnets hold components securely yet allow for easy separation.
- Editable files on Printables provide a unique customization opportunity if you own a 3D printer and have CAD skills. The possibilities are endless!
[-] Cons [-]
- The shells and buttons included are pretty similar, with only minor differences between the supplied mods.
- Performance-wise, you could opt for another HyperX mouse without the modular options to save money.
- A 3D printer is required to fully take advantage of the customization options.
- The mouse may disassemble if you unplug it from the USB. Pulling out the cord can separate the bottom half, which is quite inconvenient.
- I’m not a fan of the DPI button placement being on the bottom.
- The NGENUITY software connectivity has issues; it failed to recognize my mouse either wirelessly or via USB.
- NGENUITY is only compatible with Windows OS, limiting accessibility for Mac users.
- There is only one color option available. I would like to see a white variant for lighter builds.
- Some users may find the modular components to be excessive.
Final Thoughts [4.5/5]
The HyperX Pulsefire Saga Pro is a top-tier choice for gamers who prioritize performance and customization. Its lightweight design, responsive tracking, and modular features make it a versatile tool for various gaming styles. While the software limitation regarding operating systems is a drawback, the overall package offers excellent value.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Best Sub $300 MoBo for Gamers & Content Creators
on May 22, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
The Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 Ice is a premium AM5 motherboard that stands out from the competition by perfectly combining beautiful aesthetics with future-proof technology. This truly all-white board is the perfect choice for a high-end build, maintaining a cohesive white-out theme without charging a premium for the color.
For my Yeti Blizzard build, I paired this motherboard with an AMD Ryzen 9 9950X, 128GB (64x2) Crucial 5600 RAM in dual-channel, a Corsair iCUE Link Titan 360 RX LCD AIO, two Samsung M.2 drives (990 Pro 2TB and 9100 Pro 2TB), and a Corsair RM1200x Shift PSU, all housed in a Corsair iCUE Link 3500x ARGB White case. This was by far my favorite build, coming from an AM4 AMD Ryzen 9 5950X, which had lasted almost five years.
Setup: 4/5
I won't bore you with the actual build steps, as this review focuses on the motherboard. However, the first thing you must do is upgrade the BIOS. My RAM wouldn't boot until I performed the flash to the F5a BIOS released on 5/5/2025. After booting with one stick and allowing it to "train," I was able to flash successfully. During Windows installation, I highly recommend using Ethernet, as the drivers weren't recognized when using USB. Make sure you plan properly for part compatibility. If you're an experienced builder, you know how to build a PC once you pick compatible parts. Use the QVL list to avoid issues or take chances with EXPO RAM, then load Windows, drivers, and configure as needed.
Aesthetics & Design: 5/5
The X870 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 Ice delivers the "Ice" with a comprehensive white color scheme that extends to the board, connectors, and heatsinks. Unlike many white-themed components that command a significant price premium, Gigabyte offers this model at the same price as its standard black counterpart. The silver-white heatsinks complement the design while maintaining thermal efficiency.
The board features several thoughtfully designed 90-degree headers that facilitate cleaner cable management, although not all connectors utilize this orientation. The PCB layout is clean and logical, making for an intuitive building experience even with a full complement of components installed.
Performance & Features
CPU & Power Delivery: 5/5
The VRM utilizes digital twin 16+2+2 phase VRMs supporting AMD's Ryzen 9000, 8000, and 7000 series processors. This motherboard provides a robust foundation for high-performance computing. The VRM implementation handles even power-hungry CPUs, such as the Ryzen 9 9950X, with ease, maintaining stability under demanding workloads.
Memory Support: 5/5
The four DDR5 DIMM slots support up to 256GB of RAM, featuring impressive frequencies of up to 8200 MT/s (OC) and EXPO Profiles. Due to the dual-channel architecture, memory must be installed in pairs. My real-world testing with 5600MT/s RAM showed excellent stability with EXPO profiles.
Storage Options: 5/5
Storage capabilities are exceptional with four M.2 slots: three PCIe Gen 5.0 x4 M.2 slots delivering up to 14,800MB/s read and 13,400MB/s write speeds, plus one PCIe Gen 4.0 x4 M.2 slot. Additionally, four SATA 6Gb/s connectors are provided for legacy drives.
The primary Gen 5 slot features a substantial heatsink for optimal thermal management, while the other slots share a secondary cooling solution. Testing with the Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB demonstrated the full potential of Gen 5 speeds when paired with compatible CPUs—almost double the Gen 4 speeds of the Samsung 990 Pro 2TB.
Connectivity: 5/5
Rear I/O Panel:
- WiFi Antenna Port (plug-in design)
- 4× USB-A 2.0
- 6× USB-A 3.2
- 2× USB-C 4 with DisplayPort 2.0
- HDMI port
- 2.5Gbps Ethernet port
- 2× Audio Jacks (Mic and Line Out)
- Digital Audio Out (S/PDIF Out)
- Q-Flash Plus button
WiFi 7 Performance: 5/5
The integrated WiFi 7 represents a significant leap in future-proofing, delivering near-wired performance in real-world testing. The redesigned antenna connector is a welcome improvement, replacing traditional screw-on designs with a simple plug-in connector. The included antenna features a compact, square design with a magnetic base for flexible placement options.
Audio: 3/5
The Realtek ALC1220 codec provides high-definition audio supporting 2/4/5.1/7.1 channel configurations. The implementation offers good quality for most users; however, the rear I/O is limited to just two audio jacks and an optical output, which may require additional equipment for complex audio setups. The addition of Bluetooth 5.4 is also welcome.
Building Experience: 5/5
Assembly with the X870 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 Ice is straightforward for experienced builders, but requires careful consideration of component compatibility for first-time builders. The BIOS features a matching white "Ice" theme and provides comprehensive configuration options. Memory XMP/EXPO profiles are easily accessible, and system monitoring tools are intuitive.
Pros
- Gorgeous all-white design (including the debug LEDs) without the typical premium pricing associated with a white aesthetic. RGB lighting pops against the all-white background.
- Tool-free design for most components, implementing quick-release features for the reinforced GPU PCIe slot and EZ WiFi 7 plug connector. Innovative design for easy installation!
- High-performance networking with Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, plus blazing-fast PCIe Gen 5 M.2 slots (3x) marked with laser etching.
- The device features a multitude of I/O ports for USB connectivity, including USB4 and DisplayPort 2.0, as well as an internal HDMI sensor panel port for supporting secondary displays in newer cases.
- Comprehensive BIOS with matching "Ice" theme optimized for high-resolution displays (4K tested).
Cons
- More 90° internal headers would improve cable management aesthetics.
- Component selection must be carefully considered to maximize features, as bifurcation can cut into bus lanes when adding M.2 drives.
- No ECC support and 36 PCIe lanes vs. 44 PCIe lanes available on last year's boards.
- VRM downgrade compared to the previous year, though the upgraded heatsink and cooling system include thermal pads for the smaller number of VRMs.
- Audio I/O provides only basic connectivity with two audio jacks and S/PDIF optical connections.
- 10 Gbps Ethernet would be preferable to the 2.5 Gbps port, and a Clear CMOS button would complement the Quick Flash button nicely.
- Minor nitpick: White plastic would have been a better choice for the battery holder to match the theme.
- No 1-click AI Tuning like some competitors. Additionally, the Gigabyte Control Center software can be buggy when used in conjunction with Corsair and other third-party software.
Value & Conclusion: 5/5
The Gigabyte X870 Aorus Elite WiFi 7 Ice delivers exceptional value, combining cutting-edge technology with striking aesthetics. For enthusiasts building high-performance systems with a white color scheme, this is an excellent choice. However, if you need more bus lanes, consider spending slightly more for the X870E version. X670 board owners may want to skip this upgrade unless they want to stay current—you could allocate those upgrade funds to other build components, such as the GPU or RAM, where the money might have a more significant performance impact.
This board delivers on all fronts if you want next-generation connectivity, blazing-fast performance, and all-white visuals. While some users may need more features, this offering will satisfy the vast majority of high-end builds while providing future-proofing through WiFi 7, USB4, and PCIe Gen 5 support. I highly recommend this board for sub-$300 all-white AM5 motherboard budgets, as it perfectly balances performance and aesthetics.

Keeping Your Business or Family Safe!
on May 18, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
Norton has FINALLY done it! They have listened to customer feedback over the years about the interface and overall resource-heavy software to make one of the best suites on the market. If you run a small business or want home protection with additional features, I can now confidently recommend Norton. The virus protection is award-winning and has always been good, but now the system performance and user experience have also dramatically improved.
The user experience is intuitive, and it has become a seamless experience. This suite of programs includes antivirus, firewall, secure VPN, password manager, and cloud backup for safeguarding critical business data. The acquisition of LifeLock provides identity theft monitoring and other scans on the dark web to keep you and your family/employees safe. 24/7 Business Tech Support is also included to provide round-the-clock assistance for IT issues and virus removal. Device optimization tools including software and driver updaters to maintain system performance protect against vulnerabilities.
Getting Started 5/5
Setting up Norton Small Business Premium 2025 is so easy. If you don't have one already, create your Norton login, enter the prepaid key, download your installer, and that's it! You NO LONGER need to link your credit card to the auto-renew screen before installation or use - they listened again. You don't have to be an IT professional to figure it out or configure things. For me, it took about 15 minutes to install on each computer, which isn't too bad. I managed to complete the setup on all six PCs in under an hour. I like the UI interface uses a color scheme that is understandable and intuitive. Green means everything's good, yellow means you should check it out, and red means there's a problem you need to fix immediately.
User Experience & Features 4/5
The scattered dashboard and fractured apps are now a thing of the past. Norton has integrated all the various features into the software, so you aren't opening multiple windows. It is now neatly organized into six tabs: Security, Performance, Privacy, Identity, Search, and Settings. Everything is where you'd expect it, making this so intuitive. The settings can get a bit mixed up, but everything is there. Scans, backup, password manager, and live update are easily accessible. Performance handles exactly what you'd expect from software updates, file cleanup, start-up manager, disk optimization, and driver updater are all laid out for you to find, keeping things running in tip-top shape. Additionally, there are Driver Updaters, Norton Ultimate Utilities, which perform IT tasks like file removal, registry cleanup, and other more in-depth PC utilities to handle data recovery. Data cleaners for privacy are also included.
System Performance 4/5
One of the biggest complaints about security software is that it slows down your computer. I have good news, they fixed that too! Norton Small Business Premium 2025 doesn't impact performance. I ran some large programs, such as Da Vinci Resolve, and streamed video while Norton was scanning my computer, and it barely affected performance. I have 64GB of RAM, and I've also tested it on a Surface Laptop with 4GB of RAM, with little to no slowing whatsoever. Norton is particularly effective at catching real-time malicious content before it can harm your business. It stopped fake emails and phishing attempts and blocked sketchy file attachments that could have been viruses.
Useful Business Features
Norton didn't just take their regular home version and call it a business product. They added stuff that's helpful, like tracking of all your computers and phones from one place (My Devices). It searches the dark web to see if your business/personal info has been stolen. It backs up your important files automatically. It has a firewall that understands business software. The Search feature is great if you don't know where everything is. It operates much like universal search in your phone where it looks for keywords in the WHOLE application.
Needs Improvement
With all that Norton did to fix the current software, there is still a HUGE annoyance that needs to be addressed. The window does not go full screen, and if you use scaling, you cannot see everything in the window. This is the only weakness to the UI improvements that were made, and I cannot say how difficult it is to use this on a 4k display. Be prepared to scroll a lot, and hopefully you can see everything. Another thing I can say is pricing feels a bit much if you don't have 10 devices.
Bottom Line 5/5
Norton Small Business Premium 2025 is functionally excellent and checks all the boxes. You don't need an IT person to manage it, and it works well even on older computers. The suite now gives small business owners something really important - peace of mind, so you can focus on running your business instead of worrying about computer security. If you're looking for security software for your small business, Norton Small Business Premium 2025 is definitely worth checking out. Just make sure you understand the pricing before making a purchase.

Practical Laptop for a Starter Kit
on March 31, 2025
Posted by: nkpstudios
The HP Chromebook is an excellent choice for beginner users, whether children, older students, or even entry-level coders. Everything comes securely packaged in minimal, recyclable cardboard, and the bezel is advertised as made from reclaimed ocean-bound plastics. The laptop package arrives in a compact fingerprint resistant chassis, weighing just under 3.5 pounds. It’s small enough to fit in a bag yet light enough to carry around.
Design and Build ** 2/5
This laptop features a standard clamshell design with a grippy, plastic gray finish. Weighing in at just under 3.5 lbs, the lightweight design and choice of materials result in a flexible and not-so-rigid laptop. Around the outside, you have I/O ports, and the front edge could benefit from an indentation to make opening more effortless. The top lid is very light, requiring two hands to open it.
It features an energy-efficient Intel Celeron N4500 Dual-Core processor, clocked at 1.1GHz, with a turbo boost of up to 2.8GHz, paired with 4GB DDR4 RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage for lightning-fast performance. For most, these specs may seem minimal but everything seems tuned just right. If you are on ChromeOS, you are most likely in the cloud, so this shouldn't deter you. Running on the ChromeOS and Google ecosystem means you can access the Android apps you know and love in a secure, flexible, and reliable Google/Android ecosystem.
Above the screen, you'll find your mics and an integrated webcam privacy shutter that you can slide to block it. Below the screen, just below the hinge, you will find your top-firing speakers, which are plenty for videos but will not win sound quality awards. The laptop flexes a lot with any pressure. The screen wobbles and flexes when opening, so keep it centered at the top to avoid unnecessary wear and tear. I/O features two full-size USB-A ports, a 45W PD USB-C port (with DisplayPort 1.4 support), and one full-size HDMI 1.4b port next to a Kensington lock.
Setup and Ease of Use ***** 5/5
Setting up the HP Chromebook is a breeze. Simply plug it in, sign in with your Google account, and you're good to go! The Chrome OS offers one of the most straightforward setup processes, especially if you're already part of the Google ecosystem. If your phone is nearby, it will even sign you into your account for a quick setup. I was up and running on the laptop in less than 5 minutes out of the box. After logging in, head to the Play Store and start loading your compatible apps from your library. It's that simple!
Screen and Sounds *** 3/5
The 14-inch matte anti-glare LCD screen features a resolution of 1366x768, which barely qualifies as HD, with a resolution of 720p. This also matches the webcam recording quality at 720p with a sliding privacy shutter for added peace of mind. The picture lacks brightness, with a maximum of 250 nits, making it difficult to see outside. Colors are washed out, lack contrast and saturation, and the text isn't sharp. Viewing angles are horrendous, with no absolute blacks, as everything is dull, fading into gray shades. However, this is more than serviceable and perfect for entry-level users who do not need color-accurate panels or powerful GPUs. This is beneficial for a school that needs to purchase a large number, as they are web-based and app-driven in most cases.
Above the screen, you can find mics and an integrated webcam privacy shutter that you can slide to block it. Below the screen, just below the hinge, you will find your top-firing speakers, which are plenty for videos but will not win sound quality awards. The laptop flexes a lot with any pressure. The screen wobbles and flexes when opening, so be careful to stay in the top center to avoid unnecessary wear and tear on this. I/O features two full-size USB-A ports, a 45W PD USB-C port (with DisplayPort 1.4), and one full-size HDMI 1.4b port, all located next to a Kensington lock.
User Experience and Battery Life *** 3/5
The user experience is what you would expect from an entry-level Chromebook. There is an intuitive and simplistic approach to using ChromeOS that can be either enhanced or hindered by hardware. This setup is fundamental but not the most optimal in terms of performance. The Wi-Fi connection was spotty, with disconnections that required me to wait for a page to reload. It's quite an annoyance, and hopefully, it can be fixed with driver updates. My other Windows laptops and old Pixelbook work seamlessly, and the issue is isolated to this HP Chromebook.
The keyboard feels like scissor keys with a membrane underneath, and overall, it left me pleased. However, the color choice for letters on keycaps could be improved by adding a darker color to the caps. I prefer a backlit keyboard, but that isn't an option, and maybe I'm spoiled. The keys have a matte and grippy finish, allowing for fast typing and precision. They are wide and easy to type on, with nice spacing.
The touchpad supports multi-touch gestures, but overall, it isn't great, but it is on par with cheaper laptops. Around the edges, it is mostly not responsive with lighter pressures; until you press down harder, it will not register a touch. It seems more sensitive towards the middle, almost like a "dead zone" of 4-5mm. The chassis is made of plastic and flexes significantly with mouse clicks. The mouse pad is my least favorite hardware feature, and I hope HP can consider an alternative option in future releases.
The HP Chromebook boasts an impressive battery life, easily lasting over 2 days with heavy use like web browsing, school work, and video streaming of around 8 hours over two days. Intel Celeron chips are known for their efficiency, and the N4500 is no exception when paired with ChromeOS, this device is a power-efficient machine, perfect for those who are always on the go. With 45W charging, you can go from 1% to 52% in about 45 minutes for rapid charging. The battery is rated for 47Wh, and you can continually adjust your remaining time based on your usage. It's a reliable companion for long days of work or study.
Verdict ***3/5
With Chrome OS, an intuitive interface meets the Google ecosystem with Android apps you know and love in a secure, flexible, and reliable environment. Overall, this laptop is a pleasure to use, but honestly, there is a Windows laptop in this same price range with more powerful hardware and capabilities. This is a perfect laptop for the majority of users, but the OS can also limit. If you are in the market for a computer but don't need Windows for software and can use web-based or app-based in workflow or use, this is a great fit.

Swiffer and Mop Killer: A Game-Changer
on August 30, 2024
Posted by: nkpstudios
Let's discuss the Tineco Floor Washer One Series 5, a nifty little device that's shaking up the world of floor cleaning. Is it worth the hype? Let's dive in and find out.
First Impressions and Setup
Right out of the box, you can tell this isn't your grandma's mop. The Tineco S5 looks sleek and high-tech, but don't let that intimidate you. Setting it up is a breeze - even if you're not exactly a tech wizard. Just snap a few pieces together, fill up the tank, and you're good to go. The app is optional, but it's pretty cool if you're into tracking your cleaning stats (yeah, that's a thing now).
**TIP** When registering your device, select the "Floor One S5" as the Floorwasher PET Series 5 is NOT a separate listed model. **TIP**
The Cleaning Experience
Here's where things get interesting. This bad boy doesn't just push dirt around - it vacuums and mops at the same time to leave your floor dry and clean. Talk about multitasking! The iLoop Sense technology actually detects how dirty your floor is and adjusts its cleaning power and solution accordingly. This extends cleaning time and saves unnecessary refilling. It's like having a tiny cleaning expert inside your mop.
One of the best parts? No more wet socks! The S5 leaves your floors just slightly damp, and they dry in under 5 minutes. Compare that to the 20-minute wait time with traditional mops, and you'll see why this is a big deal! I definitely love how this changes my cleaning routine.
Battery Life and Portability
The S5 gives you about 35 minutes of cord-free cleaning time. Is it enough to clean Buckingham Palace? Nah. But for most homes, it's plenty. Plus, not having to deal with cords while you're cleaning is pretty liberating. I have about 1/5 of the solution remaining and 34% battery remaining cleaning about 250 sqft of floor.
The Tech Factor
Okay, let's geek out for a second. The LED screen and voice notifications are actually pretty helpful. No more guessing how much battery you have left or if you're doing it right. And if you're into data (no judgment here), the app gives you all sorts of stats about your cleaning habits. It's like a Fitbit for your floor cleaner. I really enjoyed the smart features that don't make it difficult to use.
The Not-So-Great Stuff
No product is perfect, and the S5 has its quirks. The tank is on the smaller side, so you might need to refill it if you're cleaning a bigger space or multiple floors. And while it does a great job, there's always room for improvement. A wider cleaning base or some floor-illuminating LEDs would be cool additions for future models. Some of these things are improved by selecting a higher series of Tineco floor washer.
The Verdict
Is the Tineco Floor Washer One Series 5 worth it? If you're looking to up your cleaning game without breaking a sweat, then yeah, it's definitely worth considering. It's not just about clean floors; it's about making your life easier. And let's be real, anything that makes cleaning less of a chore is a win in my book.
Sure, it's got some high-tech features that might seem over the top, but they actually make a difference in how you clean. Plus, the self-cleaning feature means you don't have to deal with a gross, smelly mop head ever again.
In the end, the Tineco S5 is like the cool, efficient friend who actually makes chores fun. Well, maybe not fun, but definitely less of a drag. If you're ready to say goodbye to your old mop and bucket, this might just be your new best cleaning buddy.

Mobile Gaming Powerhouse, but GET A CASE!
on August 23, 2024
Posted by: nkpstudios
Struggling to find a gaming controller that fits your larger phone perfectly? Wishing for a controller outside your iPad mini to make a gaming console? Razer has the solution! The Kishi Ultra, with its user-friendly design and quick setup, offers a full-size controller experience on the go for USC-C iOS phones, iPad mini, and Android phones/devices. I tested it on my iPad Mini, Z Fold 6, and S24 Ultra - and it springs into shape to fit flawlessly. The included bumpers are a thoughtful addition, allowing you to swap depending on the device you are using. The textured grip makes it easy to hold onto without including rubber or silicone, adding to the convenience of the design.
The superior build and construction make it a convenient and valuable addition to your everyday carry. The buttons, triggers, and sticks on the Kishi Ultra not only function well but also exude a premium, pro-like feel, enhancing your gaming experience. Everything feels fast and responsive during gameplay. Razer's inclusion of a headphone jack helps adaptability when Bluetooth is unavailable. For the first time, good hardware is not held back by software. Razer truly shines with the Nexus App and its game launcher and inclusion of pass-through charging, but its speed could be improved tremendously.
The most significant drawbacks of the Kishi Ultra are its size and lack of collapsibility for portable gaming. The top-notch hardware makes it larger in size than a standard controller and can make it less convenient for on-the-go gaming because you need to protect it. The shape makes it vulnerable when placed in a bag, and the quality of the sticks requires protection for this price point! The exposed sticks and triggers are at risk of impact, so investing in a protective case for travel is highly recommended. The Kishi Ultra stretches to fit but doesn't shrink in size, so I'd like to see a removable stretch backplate as a worthy improvement. I would also like to see hall effects sticks for this price, along with a protective case/sleeve to protect your investment.
The Kishi Ultra's pass-through charging feature is limited to old Quick Charge 2.0 technology (5V 1A), a significant drawback. In my tests, it only provides a maximum of 8 watts at 5V 1 amp, which is unacceptable for gaming on a newer phone. As a result, it may lead to quicker battery drain and overheating, negatively impacting your phone's performance during long gaming sessions.
Things to Know
-No protection is provided. I'd expect some protection for the price: a little sleeve or mini case. Controllers and headsets in this price range come with bags or cases to protect their products.
-No Hall Effects sticks. All these are regular potentiometers, so if you require hall effects, this is a No Go.
-Using the RGB drains your battery faster, even though it looks fantastic. I recommend reducing the brightness or going dark for more gaming time.
-Most games, like Fall Guys, Fortnite, and CoD, will work partially with the controller while playing. These apps look for Bluetooth controllers. As a result, I experienced a smooth console-like experience from Nexxus, but it fragmented when I was in different games. This offered me a hybrid experience where I played with the controller but had to tap the selections to start the game. This means that while the controller enhances the gaming experience, there are still some aspects of the game that require manual input, such as selecting options in the game's menu.
-The Nexus app is THE BEST part of the experience! It ties everything together like nothing else out there. You can easily add all your games and favorite apps for easy access. Also included is a wide range of controller customizations, allowing you to tailor your gaming experience to your preferences. This app is a game-changer for mobile gaming! The Nexus app not only organizes your games and apps but also offers extensive customization options for your controller, enhancing your gaming experience.
This is Razer's best portable gaming experience to date. Razer's Nexus app really exemplifies a perfect UI with a launcher experience for mobile gamers. While there are other cheaper controller options, they are different from this! The only deal breaker is that those who require Hall Effects sticks will pass.

will this drive work on usb 2.0?

does this drive, only work with a usb 3.0 pc input?
It will work with both. USB 3.0 is backwards compatible with USB 2.0 ports. I believe the only difference will be the drive performance. Read/Write speeds may be effected since there is a difference between USB 2.0/3.0 bus speeds..

What type of features does the app have? Can you control devices in the way that EERO and Luma are marketing? I've had Netgear routers for years. But need a mesh system . Currently, the UI for these routers are very limited.

The app needs a refresh but it is the Netgear Genie app. You can do a search online for the interface.

What is the user interface / app like? Does it have the ability to control the setup and individual device control like the EERO and LUMA have? I currently have a R8000 and it won't cover the home and the interface does not provide much control over wor

I can't speak on EERO or LUMA as I have never used them. If you are a R8000 user then you know the interface is fairly simple and nothing flashy. You will be used to the interface. The Orbi logo replaces the Netgear Genie Logo. The mobile app is Netgear Genie so you probably know how to use that as well. I would say Netgear needs to do an app refresh, but it is functional. I have used almost all of the Nighthawk line and I can honestly say the Orbi system is the BEST Netgear product offering coverage/performance utilizing a mesh network. If you need better coverage then get an Orbi system as it will provide double the coverage and seamless WiFi roaming without sacrificing performance. These are the 2 major reasons to upgrade over your R8000. Performance is similar for both.

Power your Apple devices with this Belkin charge dock. It comes with a Lightning connector that charges iPhones and an integrated magnetic charger that provides Apple watches with more juice when needed. The single built-in cable of this Belkin charge dock lets you charge both devices simultaneously, saving you the inconvenience of using multiple cords.

Want to know if watch same as phone text or voice ??

I am unsure of your question because of the wording, but I will try to answer what I think you mean. If you are asking can you type a text on the Watch like on a phone, currently the answer is no. When watchOS3 is released it will do that but currently you can only select preloaded text responses or use voice to text. One good thing is the watch is smart enough to offer responses to questions as preloaded texts as well. For example if someone texts you:

What time do you want to meet? 3pm or 4pm?

The watch will have those two times as replies in addition to the preloaded/saved texts from your iPhone.

I hope this helps. With the WatchOS3 release looming it will be a great watch. Right now, it is a bit slow and clunky and you can tell it is Apple's first attempt at a smart watch.
