One of the great riffs of MST3K, Pod People (as it was known on the show) is a silly and hilarious E.T. knockoff/horror movie from director Juan Piquer Simon. I only wish they had more scenes with "Hear the Engines Roll Now".

An Italian knock off to the Conan movies, Ator wins you over with its acting, cinematography, and creativity. Miles O'Keefe is the beefy Ator/Conan on a quest to save his young bride from the Kingdom of the Spider and its leader Dakkar played by a wrestler with the same name. Though not as hilarious as Cave Dwellers, Ator will keep you interested from beginning to end.

What's great about it: Acting, scenery, animatronic spider puppet, shadow fighting
What's not so great: little to no extras

Doc Martin = Good TV

If you read my review for the box set of Doc Martin 1 - 5 then you know exactly what you're getting into when watching this new season. Doc Martin is a character every person wants to be in real life, but can't. If you get a chance, watch the series on PBS then buy the seasons. It is worth the money spent.

Average Cheesy Slasher Without the Good Cheese

Every actor gets their break in the horror genre and it's funny to see them before they get famous (or why they're so desperate to pay the bills). Hack is your standard, recycled slasher with no originality to separate it from the recent horror movies pumped out. The teen acting is terrible, the killers really have no motivation for doing their killing (except to get rid of badly written characters), and some of the actors like Juliette Landau and Danica McKellar are too good for this movie. Only watch out of curiosity or if you have some free time.
What's great about it: Badly written characters that make you root for the villain
What's not so great: Everything else
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good Old Nic Cage Fun

On a whim and chance I picked up this movie and immediately laughed my head off from Nic Cage and Charlie Sheen's over the top acting. The plot is sub par and most of the shots are too artsy for a movie about con artists. I recommend only for a good unintentional laugh.
What's great about it: Nic Cage's acting
What's not so great: Lack of extras
I would recommend this to a friend!

For anyone out there who is bored to death with CGI and flashy things then American Hustle is a worthwhile purchase. Christian Bale, Jennifer Lawrence, Amy Adams, and many others put on their A game material about con artists being used by the FBI. The special appearances of Louis C.K. and Robert de Niro are played perfect.

What's a doctor to do when he has a phobia to blood? Work in a country township. If you like British humor and sarcastic doctors then you'll enjoy this series. Doc Martin is a character you'll love because he says what's on your mind and can't get away with saying. PBS is now airing the series, but you'll need to get the series if you want to watch in order.

Vengeance Never Looked Like This

The story of a man kidnapped off the streets, locked away in a hotel room for 15 years, then given 5 days to figure out why this was done to him. Oldboy is a Tarantino-esque mystery all the way to the end. Never have I been shocked about a villain's plan or the feeling of insanity throughout the story. The ending is a true masterpiece of storytelling with some of the best lines I've heard from a movie, "I may be a beast, but don't I deserve to live" and "laugh, and the world laughs with you; weep, and you weep alone".
A must watch for anyone bored of spoon fed mysteries.
What's great about it: The actors, the story, cinematography
What's not so great: Didn't notice much extras
I would recommend this to a friend!

Chinese Super Sentai

A jewel for any fan of Power Rangers or its Sentai counterpart. An officer volunteers to be changed into the superhero Inframan to fight against rubber suit monsters and motorcycle skeletons. The movie shows its time but it definitely shames movies filled with CGI effects.
What's great about it: Easy to follow story with cool fight scenes and old school special effects.
What's not so great: The DVD extras are little, if any.
I would recommend this to a friend!
