About a boy who never grew up and hangs out with his best pal, a live Teddy Bear who has a Boston accent, smokes pot, swears like a sailor and hits on hot women. The first hour is hysterical with their fascination with Flash Gordon. They finally get to party with Flash and Ted gets Mark Wahlberg in trouble with his girlfriend. Ted has to move out, get a job and deal with separation with his best friend. After the first hour, the movie dives really badly when Ted gets kidnapped. Big chase scene and everyone learns to live with each others faults. Great movie for the first hour and then DIVES badly. If you want to laugh for 60 mins, get this movie. It has replay value. Not really good for kids. Think of it as a 60 min comedy show that does not know how to end itself.
A great teen movie about your first romance with kids who are super smart and not from the popular clique. This is Diane Lane's first movie and she nailed it. It shows the awkwardness and dealing with individual issues and working toward a goal of "kissing under the bridge at sunset, when the bells are tolling and you will love each other for ever and ever". This is one of Laurence Oliver's last roles as a lovable adult who helps the kids fulfill their dreams to Venice. Daniel is a smart kids who know the horseraces, but lets his ego get in the way. Highly recommend it
A story about a boy named Hiro who can't figure out what he wants to do. He is befriended by his brother's group of friends at SFIT(San Francisco institute of Technology). It is a journey about friendship under difficult situations, working together to solve a mystery and dealing with loss of a loved one. Pretty intense for someone under 7. Ending was OK. Solid movie, not not one of Disney's best.
Joe Pesci and Marisa Tomei star as 2 amateur lawyers(who did not pass the bar) to defend their nephew and his friend from a murder rap. He learns court procedure as he goes and with the help of his observant and street smart girlfriend, takes on the establishment to prove his nephew's innocence. Lots of funny scenes and lots of "pre-planning" to pull off the stunt. well written, excellent acting(best performances for both Marisa Tomei and Joe Pesci). Excellent chemistry between them. Both are underrated actor/actress of this generation. Highly recommended. rating 4.5
I did not expect much from this movie when I bought this and I was pleasantly surprised. The cast blended very well with their different personalities and it worked. Jason Sudeikis was the mastermind of this crazy drug smuggling plan and recruits Jennifer Aniston(a stripper), a goofy neighbor and a homeless girl to be a family for a weekend. As the weekend unfolds, they start to appreciate each other and work out of the mess with drug dealers, and the DEA who are after them. Happy ending. Solid movie, but not recommended for kids. Jennifer's scene to prove she was a stripper was hysterical. Recommended.
Jason Statham does a magnificent job as an ex-DEA agent who retires after a drug bust gone bad. He retires to a small town in Louisiana and wants to live a quiet life. His daughter is taught "how to defend herself" and punches out a school bully. Things escalate and word gets out to the motorcycle drug group that Statham is in town. Great pace, great action. Daughter shows a strong will and then turns into a wall flower at the end. Could have made her more consistent. Clever setup for the final scene. I would recommend it. On par with the Equalizer(Denzel Washington)
A great chick flick starring Harry Potter and Zoe Kazan who are 2 misfits who find each other perfect for each other except that Zoe has a longtime boyfriend. Her long term boyfriend is not as smitten with her as she is to him. Since Daniel Ratcliffe and Zoe Kazan have some much in common (and the same kind of humor), they become friends. As it progresses, Daniel likes Zoe for more than a friend and the plot continues. Dialog is quirky and real (with the awkardness expressed well). Can love conquer all or if you are in the "friend zone", are you locked into it forever? Great movie, highly recommended
A coming of age movie about a girl trying to find her niche in college. Anna Kendrick sings with a rag tag group of misfits who sound great together. Sing offs are hysterical and it has the "underdog" feel which leads to the finals. Great date movie. Cast is wonderful and plays off each other well. Script is well done and it keeps moving. Definitely a MUST see
An excellent history of the 4 Seasons and Frankie Valli. It shows the dynamics of the loyalty to each other and the dynamics of how the group dealt with fame and fortune and also how they dealt with tragedy and the breakup of the group. Excellent script which SHOWED you and not TOLD you about what is going on. Music was excellent. Ending was perfect. Acting was exactly how I would picture the development of the 4 Seasons. Highly recommended
Very clever movie if you like Italian Job and movies like that. It is about a group of thieves who eventually double cross a con artist (in a good way). the group has chemistry and the script is very clever and well thought out. Very plausible scenario. Kurt Russell is excellent and Chris Diamantopoulos was perfect(as the forger). Terence Stamp and the interpol policeman interaction was priceless. Gives a good idea into the world of art thieves. A gem which I would highly recommend.
