I have too many headphones in search of the perfect sound, which I know is not possible. Yet, these headphones hold their own with the giants of the industry - Denon, Fostex, Hi-Fi Man, etc - for their price point. Clear highs with a balance of mids and low range. With that said, some may consider these too bright and I think it depends upon your listening pleasure. I highly recommend these for any person on a budget. Excellent investment. The one criticism is the earpads are very "stiff." I may try to change them out. Happy listening. Cheers.

Great sound w/wonderful noise cancellation

Have Bose and Sennheiser wireless and noise cancellation. Bose is the best of the class with an unique sound signature, while Sennheiser has a more "natural" sound signature with good noise canceling - yet the headband can be uncomfortable, there is not padding.
Therefore, when Best Buy had these on sale I wanted to compare them with Bose and Sennheiser. Needless to say, I sold the Sennheiser and put away the Bose. The Sony sound is best for my style and the noise cancellation equals, and maybe bests the Bose.
The earcup controls for your device (iPad Pro) works wonderfully, though needs some practice to be perfect. Battery life is as stated, so no complaints there for me. I would recommend these for those who enjoy the Sony sound and need top of the line noise cancellation. Cheers.

The first one was not double boxed from the manufacturer, and was damaged. Best Buy customer service quickly sent out a replacement, which arrived double boxed and working as listed.
Sounds is detailed with plenty of bass for Bluetooth speakers. Please be mindful that there is still a speaker wire that connects the two speakers together, therefore this is not completely wireless.
Yet, I would recommend these speakers, especially when on sale. Cheers.

How much external noise reduction for these headphones (Steinhauser HD558)?

Though these are over the ear, I would consider these open back headphones with the music can be heard when on. Thus, these probably do not block out all the noise from the environment. If you are needing complete noise blocking, then would recommend noise canceling headphones such as Bose and Sony. The price will be significantly higher though with not much sonic improvements.
