Sony Hit A Homerun With The UDP X800
on April 28, 2017
Posted by: tdwin2000
This player is amazing. We have owned our LG OLED 65" EF9500 since late 2015 when it came out. We are using a very high end Marantz 9 channel receiver. We have been living with streaming movies (most not in 4K as the selection and ability to stream 4K only just recently became more widely available). We never purchased a 4K Blueray player as the reviews on the first one to the market, the Samsung, were not good. Then Phillips came out with the square model (looks like a toy...again, we waited). Meanwhile, while waiting, there is SO much more content available now to stream in 4K that we almost didn't even need a Blueray player. Now, Sony comes out with this model X800 and the build quality is stellar. Very solidly built, fast load and playback times, great features and a nice, sleek and clean look to it (very simple). We played back La La Land last night in 4K and all I can say is WOW. Better than streaming 4K, colors were amazing, picture was bright, sound was amazing...again, WOW. Now, we did have the ISF tuning performed on our OLED when we got it and I think it's an important thing not to skip. Our whites are WHITE and not BLUEISH. Getting back to this player...there are now many more players coming to the market and some might get better reviews (I can't imagine any with a better picture than what we witnessed). There have been some complaints that this doesn't have a display on the front of the player. No problem for us as it has the on screen display showing all you could ever want to see. Besides, who gets up during a movie to look at the display, it's much easier to hit "info" on the remote and see it on the large screen. Some have complained there is no Dolby Vision support. I think that maybe Sony could possibly have this on the X800 with a future update but not sure. However, for us it doesn't matter as our LG only supports HDR-10 anyway. This whole thing of DV vs HDR-10 format reminds me of years ago when VHS was head to head battling with Sony's Betamax format. HDR seems to be the more popular format (maybe because it came out first, not sure). If you are looking for a fantastic player to view your 4K content or just to upscale your current Blueray library look no further than this model. I think if they charged $400 or $450 they would still be in such high demand. It's a bargain for what Sony gives you for $300. Now Samsung is on their second model 4K player, the 9500, which is priced at $399. Claims it's much improved (yet still $100 more than this Sony). Go with the Sony and I can't imagine you will be disappointed. The only negative I could throw out there about this (and it's really not a negative) is that the setup menu has a LOT of options and might be a little overwhelming. Make sure you read through them and fine tune this player to what you need it to do---then sit back and enjoy the show!

These Are The Best..Better Than Philips HUE
on December 20, 2016
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Miami, FL
The app is so much easier than HUE. Colors are better and brighter. However, not as soft as the HUE's colors. What I like about the LIFX is that on the app you can pick a pure color like Blue or Purple and tone it down on the app by adding a little white to the color. The bulbs from LIFX are much brighter than HUE's. And, I have a few light strips which are great and a couple of rooms of the BR30 bulbs in my existing Hi Hat fixtures. The only thing is that unless everyone in your house has the app, it's a pain to control the lights as they have no way to turn them on or off. There is a switch from Logictech that is a 3 way press switch which also works with IFTTT technology. You can easily wirelessly program this click switch (which is very small and thin) to turn the lights on and off. Or, to control a number of other wireless things in your house. For now, the other members in my family can use Echo (Alexa) and speak to turn the lights on or off. The BR30 sized bulbs also state on the package they can be used indoors or outdoor locations (with the HUE you can't do that). Also, as mentioned in many reviews, no hub needed to buy with LIFX system. Installation took all of 3 minutes to screw in the bulbs and download the app. Took longer for me to decide what names to give the bulbs. Grouping them is easy so in my room with four hi hats I can turn all on in a group or turn each one off or on individually. Color rendition is great. Even the shades of white are amazingly true. Soft white, daylight, Flourescent light....you name it, it covers the whole temperature spectrum. Whereas before with regular bulbs you had to choose a temperature and stick with it, you just dial up what you like with these bulbs. Love them so far. And, oh yes...one more thing. If you are going to buy a few, buy the multi packs on Best Buy's website as a pack of 4 is $196 rather than buying 4 bulbs individually at $60/each for a total of $240 (much cheaper). If you still feel you need to compare them after my review, buy one of each brand and a hub for Philips HUE and try them out for yourself. I think if LIFX had better marketing and more product on the shelves in Best Buy they would be the clear winner of which bulb sells more. However, Philips is killing LIFX on marketing and using the fancy packaging in stores. Go for the LIFX over Philips...you won't regret your decision.

Best Remote, Probably More Than Anyone Needs
on November 24, 2016

I had a Universal brand remote from about 5 years ago when we got our old LCD Sony XBR tv. My kids HATED it from day one. Buttons were hard to push, it would eventually do different functions than were programmed into it and when I got it the installer had to program all the macros on his laptop which cost a couple hundred dollars. Fast forward to the Harmony brand remotes. I have the new Harmony Elite remote. I programmed all the functions myself which were SO easy to do. And, if you need help the Harmony support via phone call will help and guide you through each and every step (boy they are very patient). The setup was very self-explanatory and all the codes for my TV and stereo equipment were listed. I like the fact that it has a hub system with it so I can operate my components without having to "aim" the remote directly at the tv or stereo to turn it on. It has a great color screen so I added custom pics to the startup screen for my DirecTV and my Marantz stereo and whatever else I needed. What's also cool is because this is the "Elite" model I also have a button on the screen to control a lot of home automation things (like I can adjust my Nest thermostat on the screen...it shows temperature and other important things). I don't have any wireless light bulbs in my house but if I had the Philips HUE it would control them too. I also like that you can customize the serup on the remote for brightness, how much vibration the remote gives off to let you know when you press a button, etc. Most important though is the customer service is very good from Logictech. I called about a setup question when I changed something on my audio setup and they were open 7 days a week to help me out. I would highly recommend this remote and if you don't need all the home functions you could probably go with one of their lesser models which has a lot of similar features and comes along with the same great customer service.

Great Fridge..Some Little Annoyances
on December 27, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
Great looking, great working fridge (cooling is very constant temperature). Only little annoyances are that the ice maker doesn't make that much ice, cubes are TINY and coming out white which my old Kitchenaid didn't do (and it was 16 years old). Sodastream built-in is a nice added plus although would have been nice if they came with a free cartridge for the price you pay for this refrigerator. Doors DO show fingerprints no matter how much they say it reduces the amount of fingerprints (not so...they show up). Looks good in our new kitchen along with all the other Bosch Benchmark appliances we also have. Like the layout (burt takes some getting used to with the short shelves and the ability to store tall bottles) and the ability to use bottom right side for either freezer or refrigerator.

Great Speakers for ATMOS..
on November 17, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I purchased these speakers for my older Definitive Technology towers from about 6 years ago (model BP 7006 Bipolar). These towers are only 11.5 inches deep and the ATMOS speakers here are 13 inches. I stuck some rubber feet under the base of them based on a recommendation from an online review I read somewhere else. I used rubber feet from a company named Isolate It (go on Amazon and look up Sorbothane Hemisphere…I used the 1" with 50 durometer). They stick great to the bottom and I can tell you that I have had my towers rocking out with the internal subs kicking and these top ATMOS speakers haven't moved or even come close to falling off at all. Of course, not many ATMOS enabled movies out yet (VUDU steams some titles). These speakers wee originally $500/pair and have recently been cut to only $300/pair. If you have reservations about getting them because you don't have the BP8060 speakers that they should attach to don't be afraid to try them anyway. Get those rubber spongy feet I mentioned and you will be fine.

Best TV EVER..Nothing Else Compares
on November 13, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I just replaced a 6 year old Sony XBR LCD 52" TV so this was a night and day difference. When we saw the OLED tv's about a year ago, we were drooling over how nice the picture was but of course at $8,000 for a 55 inch and over $10,000 for a 65 inch, it put it out of our reach. So, we started looking at 75" TV's from Samsung and Sony and those were 4K but in it's infancy (so much that everyone we spoke to said 4K is great but there is NO content to watch so it's a waste of money to buy). Fast forward about a year and here we have the newest LG OLED (flat screen) that is also 4K and we purchased at BB for $5K and it even included a bonus FREE LG 4K 49 inch TV. The picture is stunning..deep blacks and colors that pop. We paired it with the top of the line Marantz SR7010 and a Harmony Ultimate Home remote (love this remote by the way). I think this month we alone helped the stock price of BB as we spent a lot of time and money picking out just the right system. I really don't need to say anymore about how amazing the picture is. If you are reading this review, you know already what OLED is and just let your eyes be the judge. Only thing I would recommend is getting the Geek Squad warranty as the technology is still kind of new and who knows what could happen as far as screen burn-in or any other problems that arise…well worth taking the assurance the plan gives you. Oh…one more thing. I highly recommend if you are going to mount this TV on a wall getting the LG mount made for this TV. We purchased our TV in early October and BB didn't sell this mount at that time so we ordered somewhere else. However, the installer from Geek Squad really liked installing with this mount as they didn't have to build it (it comes all put together and they only have to drill holes and mount and level). It also is designed for the OLED TV's and sits nice and close to the wall but also swivels left and right and up and down.

Great Receiver-Tough Choice Between This and Denon
on November 8, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I was upgrading our surround system as far as the tv (which we purchased the LG OLED EF9500) and the receiver. We had a 6 year old setup with a Denon 2808CI receiver. This Marantz was my choice between it and the Denon AVR X6200W which both were the exact same price. I think ultimately, I went with Marantz as I had a Marantz receiver in the early 1980's and it's a bit nostalgic for me and at the same time was the choice picked between those two by 3 different Magnolia Design Center stores I went to. The sound is great (I've got it setup with 7.1 system and a zone two pushing 4 patio speakers outside). The Marantz online app is just okay but there are other companies that make apps that work on the Marantz and will control a lot of components in my system. I like the fact the airplay wireless built in to the Marantz makes it very easy to stream music when I'm listening to Apple Music via my Iphone and I can play it in each zone independently or just the zone I choose. From what people told me when I set out to buy a receiver is that Marantz will cost a bit more than one from a competing company but they are built solid and sound great for both home theater AND music…a lot of punch in my music using this Marantz 7010

Good at Cleaning Clothes..Less Features for More $
on July 5, 2013

We had an LG 2487 from 206 we purchased brand new and a matching front load LG dryer too. Recently, the dryer's tub cracked and would no longer work. It was going to be a $300 repair and it would have taken a week to get it repaired...We have kids in camp everyday and need to wash and dry towels and their dirty clothes. I called LG and even though out of factory warranty, they warrant the tub on the dryer for a long time just like the washer. I could have waited for them to ship it but instead decided to now have a mismatched pair and purchased a new washer and dryer (I sold my almost 7 year old working LG 2487 for about $250 with the stand). I liked the feature of a tub light on my old 2487 and am quite surprised the new one doesn't have a light. The top of the line LG with a 5.1 tub has a light on it. I do also like the drainage on the new washer...I think it's much better than the old machine (even though, I still leave the door to washer open after each load). The lights that display what mode the washer or dryer are in are not as clear to read as they were on the old set of machines and the option buttons on the left and right side of these lights are even worse...they should light up. My eyesight isn't what it used to be but they are basically not easily seen standing right in front of the machine. And, why would LG make a machine with a see thru door if you can't see in without a light..and the glass (plastic) door on the washer is tinted which makes it almost impossible to see into the machine. I do like one thing on this new washer a lot...the spin speed of 1200 RPM is the same as on my old machine but for some reason, the clothes in this one seem to be dryer coming out after spin cycle than they were in my old 2487. Overall, it's a great pair of machines...my other close choice was the Samsung washer/dryer combos.
What's great about it: cleaning performance, value for money, quiet
What's not so great: doesn't have a tub light

These Speakers Are Amazing...Thank You Magnolia !
on January 30, 2009
Posted by: tdwin2000

I went to a Magnolia Home theater showroom at my local Best Buy and was blown away by the BP7006 Def Tech speakers...compared to the similar priced Klipsch (Klipsch did have more defined highs but overall, the Def Techs put them to shame). I am using these with a 52" Sony XBR, a Def Tech 2002 center channel speaker and two Speakercraft AIM 8's in the rear ceiling...also using a Def Tech supercube 2 subwoofer...I like the fact that the salesman (manager) put together a package price based on the fact that I was buying a lot of stuff...didn't plan on getting a new receiver either but did wind up getting a Denon 2808 receiver...didn't mind only two HDMI inputs which work just fine for me and although only two HDMI's, this receiver otherwise is identical to the $1,150 2809...and I only paid $599 for it in what was probably the only unopened 2808 around...took some time to find but was well worth it...you can't believe the sound in my home theater system...it ROCKS !!!!
What's great about it: Full Spectrum Sound...Great Value For Price Paid
What's not so great: Nothing So Far...

Very disappointed -READ BEFORE YOU BUY
By ANJAY from Chicago, IL
I have never given a 1 star to anything. Because it is Logitech I am forced to give it 2 Stars just because Logitech tried to build a product that no one else built.
I hope this review will save many hours or frustration. I will not give you this talk about 350 odd being too much money for a remote if it did what it is capable of 75% of the time and covered 75 % of the features.
I spend 4 Days and hours each day trying to refine this and I hope I can save people precious time. sometimes you wonder if there can be ever a perfect universal Remote. In that space really there is only a harmony. Gone are they days when I had Sony everything including a Sony Receiver.
My devices are
LG 65UG9500 TV
Pioneer Elite SC67 Receiver
Pioneer Elite Blu ray player.
Apple TV Gen 3
Dish network VIP 722K
Note this:-
This remote requires you to program via you phone smart app but sometimes it requires a hub, laptop and you remote all to be in the same room close. This smart phone app makes your Iphone 6Plus feel very deficient.
This remote also required to use your WIFI all the time ! if you are playing XBOX and want to turn off your WIFI good luck since the reconnect to your WIFI from your HUB is so buggy and take for ever. So my aging parents or someone who hopes to get simplification cannot really be wowed by this remote !
I was able to easily program this remote and setup was not painless. It seems to have all the models and specifics of all my devices built-in or downloadable in a jiffy.
Out of the box many of the buttons will not work. so you will have to fix each and everyone of them. You also may have to turn off HDMI control. So if you have a smart TV like the Samsung s and LGs then you have to live with input lag and increase the remote delays ..this will cost you 1-10 hours depending on how much patience you have. Somewhere along the line the remote will have to be charged by popping it in the cradle as the battery is designed differently and needs some charging.(this is not a big issue unless you are doing several syncs to complete setup).
With HDMI control off everywhere I thought that was a good place to start. Almost all the basic functions work (my 30 bucks Dish network remote does that with no fuss at all. Sorry if I ticked off some Logitech fans !)
The problem starts with Menus, or Smart apps. LG TV menus work but few options will have to be fixed painstakingly. I successfully did this. As I was really committed to set this so I can make it easy for my family. (Somewhere along the line you are thinking heck how lazy are we to not just use the original remote for Apple TV or Blu-ray. Everyday TV watching and turning things off works so great with the Dish network remote. On/off volume and channels and guide..well we all are good with that !)
The hub placement was perfect and did not have to use the extender but when I turned off WIFI it struggled and sometimes what you fixed does not works consistently.
The hard Exit button on the remote would always exit and change everything no matter what activity you are doing. Hugely annoying. So I teach it exit mean this via the original remotes for 3 devices. Guess what it work via my phone application but keeps failing after numerous Syncs. you have to believe me when I say this. Not impressive at all. Also the Phone App has the weirdest of navigation options not in keeping with the current crop of applications. My guess is Logitech developed this in 2005 and kept patching this. It requires a complete re-write.
At this point I still had 60 percent of the standard buttons working (So most Cable/satellite remotes can do that is it not ?)
The touch screen is very annoying and you could inadvertently select something you did not intend. The remote has a rubber back but it still is very hard to grip and very slippery.I think most could live with that if it did what is expected of it.
You have to scroll way down to find something and you will have so many additional options (could be like 50-100 buttons that you need to manually remove to make your list smaller and manageable)
2 days ago I picked up the remote and it would not connect to the wifi at all. so I unplugged it and plugged it again.
After the power reset it seemed to work fine but some things were so weird. Example when I eject Blu-ray tray and then try to close it close would not work from the remote. So I tried the Phone app. It works from the phone but not on the remote. So I fixed this again. Then I found that the pioneer MCACC menu loads up but the cursor button does not work suddenly. so I said that was fine I can use the original remote for that.
Then few time the input kept switching back to apple TV input and I had to go to device menu and switch it back...with the input lag associated with all these dissimilar devices from various vendors. It took time so I had to go introduce delays and edit the activities. Finally I found that if I turned on HDMI control it work better so I turned it on. The problem is once you turn on HDMI control on LG TV and your Receiver (4 K content on smart TV requires some unique things I cannot go into those details) With the Logitech remote present it misbehaves. Before I had the remote this did not happen. I tried to use the original LG magic Remote and suddenly The Logitech remote app which is too smart to my liking seems to try to learn somethings. It frequently keeps asking you if a function works as intended and do you like to fix that.
I have no way of turning this off.
I can go on and on but I just wanted to share this with everyone. Please consider all this before your buy this remote.
you have to ask yourself if you want to buy a Harmony Elite remote because every home theater enthusiast has one and it will keep you current or you really think this would save you time once you put the effort initially for 10 -50 hours and few days. Is it really that much easier than just using the basic universal functions in any TV or Cable remote. I have bought Philips and Sony Universal remotes in the past and all of them have been infinitely better than this product.
I buy most everything on bestbuy or Amazon.. I purchased this remote from Best Buy and finally just before writing this review decided to return it.
I rarely returns things. I do my research well before I buy. I am really disappointed and reluctantly returned it.
IF YOU CONSIDERED ALL THIS AND STILL THINK ITS WORTH YOUR WHILE. CONSIDER THIS, UNLESS WE HOLD HIGHER STANDARDS FOR PRODUCT ACCEPTANCE YOU WILL HAVE COMPANIES SELLING YOU STUFF WHICH ARE HALF BAKED WITH THE PROMISE THERE THAT THERE WILL BE SOFTWARE UPDATES. BELIEVE ME IF IT DID NOT MEET YOU BASIC NEEDS OUT OF THE BOX ITS NO LIKELY TO GET FIXED COMPLETELY. PLEASE DO THE WORLD A FAVOR AND GIVE THE RIGHT FEEDBACK SO THEY WILL WORK HARDER ON THE NEXT ONE. SORRY LOGITECH!

Not Sure If He's Using This Properly
January 29, 2017
I don't agree with half the stuff this person posted. I'm not saying it didn't happen that way for him but for me, it was SO easy to program and everything works fine. Not sure if maybe he wasn't using the IR blasters hooked up to the HUB. YOU NEED TO HAVE THEM PLUGGED IN to work properly (both of them). Any trouble I ran into, I just called the customer service (7 days a week) and they were very helpful. They can view my setup on their end and make any necessary adjustments on their side. They even make recommendations. I'm using it with my 65" LG OLDED TV and a Marantz SR7010 receiver and the latest version box Genie system from DirecTV. The only problems I had were when I pushed a button sometimes, it would double press and I called Logictech Harmony support and they pointed out there is an adjustment on the remote (setting) to fix that and of course that worked flawlessly. I'm thinking maybe you had a defective remote.

Better than Phillips
By Windwake from San Antonio, Tx
Better bulb than Phillips at this point and easier to manage with Echo. Wish cost was a little lower but same as Phillips but don't need a bridge. Very big selling point.

Save A Little Money On LIFX
February 12, 2017
Hey, I own a few of these bulbs too. You can save a little money if you buy the 4 pack online. Instead of paying $59.99 each a 4 pack in $196. So, pretty big savings if you can use more than one bulb which most people do.

Outstanding 4K Player!
By BIGTXS from 22655
This is an awesome 4K Ultra Blu-ray Player. Great picture quality and this player does boot up very fast. The load time is awesome!! I was skeptical about how much better this player would be over the Xbox One S but I can definitely tell the difference in picture quality. I have rewatched Planet Earth II, Lucy, and John Wick and could definitely see more detail and colors on the Sony player versus the Xbox One S. HDR is more defined and give that extra pop! Definitely worth the money. If you are thinking about making the move and have the Xbox, you should make the move and step up to the next level. Yo won't be disappointed. As far as the lack of apps, for me it is not an issue. My Samsung KS8000 has all the apps I need to play steaming content that isn't currently supported on the player. Will also say the audio quality is outstanding as well.

Great Review
April 9, 2017
I am thinking of getting this player as I have had my LG OLED 65" tv since late 2015 and have only been streaming. I didn't think I would need one and still think I don't as I usually stream in 4K. However, it's always good to have a blueray player and it might as well be 4K since I have the setup for it. I waited as I saw the reviews for the Samsung basically said it sucked. The Panasonic 900 is nice but pricey and the newer Panasonic 700 is probably nice but nobody really stocks it. For $300 and great reviews, I'm going with your choice too, the Sony.

Tried a few- This is the BEST!
By DRZGUY from Michigan
So first off I am a Best Buy Employee, wanted to be honest about that. I have owned a couple of the current 4k players. I am reviewing this with my Samsung KS8500 Curve 55in Tv. (10 bit with HDR) I had the Phillips and it was a good machine, started having some issues so I checked and Phillips was covering my issue under manufacturers warranty-First Class on their part. I received a full refund and after trying and seeing a few models I decided to upgrade to the Sony. Well I am pretty discriminating about my gear and this is amazing for the money! First off when you pick it up it's got weight- that is a good thing. I was impressed with the Phillips quality and this is just as good. Just with my initial setup with the HDMI 1 running directly to my Tv and the Audio HDMI running to my Denon AVR3300 Command Series AVR. Just plugging in and setting the HDMI'S properly the picture was pretty amazing! Nice to have a plug and play machine for a change. It definitely has more "tweak ability" than the new LG or Samsung 8500 or new 9500! (Price was at the lower end of all too) I run an Atmos system and WOW! I popped in Deep Water Horizon and was blown away. Picture was great and sound was phenominal. So nice to not wait for firmware upgrades for the unit to do what it's advertised to do. I'm still tweaking and fine tuning but am super happy. I'm glad I went with this unit, at the price of $299 it's really a deal. The only player that I've seen reviews of that were better than this was for the Oppo. We don't sell Oppo and that player is almost 2x the price! So definitely make sure you consider the Sony, I love my Samsung Tv but their player just doesn't even get close to this thing. Buy with confidence and remember with Best Buy you have a minimum of a 15 return period. If you have a tv with 4k and HDR this is very easy to justify. Boots up as fast as my other regular 1080 blu-ray and the apps are great! Highly recommended! Waiting for my code for the free DVD's that I'm supposed to get but I am still happy even if I don't get that coupon. Highly recommended!!!!

Question About The HDMI Connections
April 17, 2017
I just purchased this player but am waiting until my HDMI cable arrives tomorrow in the mail. I purchased an Audioquest Cinnamon but purchased online as they had it in a 1.5 meter length. My question is this: I am using an LG OLED 9500EF (the first 65" with the flat screen from late 2015 model year) and am running a Marantz SR7010. I have an HDMI connected to the receiver in 2.2 HDCP ARC Monitor going directly to the OLED TV. I was planning on connecting this Sony player to the Blueray HDMI connection. I know HDMI handles audio/video together. Why then did you hook up both HDMI outputs on player and one to receiver and the other directly to the TV? Is this an advantage for some reason unknown to me? Thanks in advance for your help.

Why limit streaming services
By Online4ever
So bottom line the picture is great! The sound is Dolby Atmos. My unit is hooked up so the sound goes to my Atmos capable receiver and the 4k ultra goes directly to my flat screen. I compared the Sony to the Samsung 2016 model and concluded the Sony was worth the price difference. So why 4 stars and not 5. When I first purchased the Sony the only streaming services were Netflix, AMAZON, Vudu and Opera TV--are you serious? No Hulu. Hulu and Pandora showed up about a week ago; since there's no Internet browser you have to wait for Sony to add services. I have several Sony bluray players and never had this problem before. It just doesn't make sense that the upgrade to 4k limits your options rather than expands them.

Question About Your Setup
April 22, 2017
I was reading your review and have one question. You say that your unit is hooked up so the sound goes to your ATMOS capable receiver and the 4K ultra goes directly to your flat screen. Are you speaking of Bitstream vs PCM? I have some settings on my X800 Sony player that I was wondering how to set. I am also using an ATMOS capable receiver (Marantz SR7010) and left my setting on it's default on the blueray player (which I think is PCM or all audio decoding handled by the player rather than secondary audio by the receiver). Also, did you leave the 4K on AUTO 1 or AUTO 2 as far as the upscaling of non 4K discs being upscaled to near 4K quality. Thanks

Just purchased the UBP-X800, came home and hooked it up to my brand new Yamaha Aventage A860 (which plays Atmos sound), programed everything through my Harmony Elite controller and put in "Hacksaw Ridge" UHD/Atmos ...no Atmos sound. i to Changed Bitstream

That shouldn't matter. In PCM mode it should still do the ATMOS sound. I too have the Elite remote (in fact I had a problem and Harmony techs are wonderful. In your post you never answered whether switching to Bitstream helped your issue of not being able to hear ATMOS. Did it solve the problem? Not really sure what the advantage is to using Bitstream vs PCM other than the commentary on some movies if you leave it in PCM mode. What is the advantage to using Bitstream?

I installed the X800 4K player to my Samsung 2016 series 8000 SUHD TV. I am using a Audioquest HDMI cable. The picture quality with a 4k disk was terrible. The screen was dark and the picture quality was dull. Any suggestions

Not sure if it would help but try using the AUTO 2 4K feature. By default, it is set to AUTO 1 for Sony equipment (I think they assume you have a Sony TV). Also, if I read it correctly the AUTO 2 option will also upscale NON 4K movies to near 4K quality. I too am using the Audioquest calbe (Cinnamon for me) and my picture looks amazing. Hope this helps

What is the difference between the Sony 800 and the pannasonic ultra 4k player, will it do the same streaming for 4k oled t.v.,and stream 4k from Netflix

I have a 65" LG OLED tv. The one big difference on the Panasonic 4K UHD player is it is THX certified. Not sure how many people would really need that. The price on the Panasonic is pretty steep as it's about twice the Sony's price. I would say for the money this Sony player is a bargain for what it offers in terms of picture and audio quality. As far as steaming Netflix or any other app, the Sony doesn't offer too many. I think it comes with Netflix, Amazon and Vudu. However, if you have the LG OLED tv you have a menu with plenty of other apps you can use so really not an issue.

How long will the $4,999 and free tv promotion go on to?

Through 12/31/15?
Apparently it won't continue thru the end of the year as the TV is not coming with the FREE LG 49" as a bonus any longer and the 65" LG OLED has increased this week from $4,997 to $5,999. Can't believe they went up $1,000 in price. Oh well, glad I have mine already

Safeguard your home or business with this 4-pack of motion-activated NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home VMS3430-100NAS security cameras, which enables you to capture 720p video footage both during the day and at night.

Where do get the batteries online

We have two camers but four batteries only lasted a month and the 2 batteries each cost $12-$14.That's expensive so can you guys help me and find a website that has rechargable batteries
I have the 4 camera setup. The best and least expensive batteries that will fit C123 model can be purchased at Lowes Home store. They are sold in a two pack for I think it was $4.36 (that's for a 2 pack of batteries). The brand is Surefire and they are great lasting batteries. I read reviews on them online and apparently this company makes batteries and electronic scopes for police weapons. The reviews on these batteries were great and I have replaced some of my Duracell C123 batteries and these Surefire's last as long if not longer. For the price, you CAN'T go wrong. Hope this helps you out a lot. Enjoy

HDR Capable yet

Do you know if this EF9500 will support HDR via a software upgrade I have been reading about ?

Thanks Very Much ...
not completely sure but as I understand it, the FLAT OLED's (the EF series) is capable of HDR via streaming and the only OLED's by LG that can play HDR from a source plugged into the TV also (like an HDR blue ray player when they become available the end of this year).
