Sony Hit A Homerun With The UDP X800
on April 28, 2017
Posted by: tdwin2000
This player is amazing. We have owned our LG OLED 65" EF9500 since late 2015 when it came out. We are using a very high end Marantz 9 channel receiver. We have been living with streaming movies (most not in 4K as the selection and ability to stream 4K only just recently became more widely available). We never purchased a 4K Blueray player as the reviews on the first one to the market, the Samsung, were not good. Then Phillips came out with the square model (looks like a toy...again, we waited). Meanwhile, while waiting, there is SO much more content available now to stream in 4K that we almost didn't even need a Blueray player. Now, Sony comes out with this model X800 and the build quality is stellar. Very solidly built, fast load and playback times, great features and a nice, sleek and clean look to it (very simple). We played back La La Land last night in 4K and all I can say is WOW. Better than streaming 4K, colors were amazing, picture was bright, sound was amazing...again, WOW. Now, we did have the ISF tuning performed on our OLED when we got it and I think it's an important thing not to skip. Our whites are WHITE and not BLUEISH. Getting back to this player...there are now many more players coming to the market and some might get better reviews (I can't imagine any with a better picture than what we witnessed). There have been some complaints that this doesn't have a display on the front of the player. No problem for us as it has the on screen display showing all you could ever want to see. Besides, who gets up during a movie to look at the display, it's much easier to hit "info" on the remote and see it on the large screen. Some have complained there is no Dolby Vision support. I think that maybe Sony could possibly have this on the X800 with a future update but not sure. However, for us it doesn't matter as our LG only supports HDR-10 anyway. This whole thing of DV vs HDR-10 format reminds me of years ago when VHS was head to head battling with Sony's Betamax format. HDR seems to be the more popular format (maybe because it came out first, not sure). If you are looking for a fantastic player to view your 4K content or just to upscale your current Blueray library look no further than this model. I think if they charged $400 or $450 they would still be in such high demand. It's a bargain for what Sony gives you for $300. Now Samsung is on their second model 4K player, the 9500, which is priced at $399. Claims it's much improved (yet still $100 more than this Sony). Go with the Sony and I can't imagine you will be disappointed. The only negative I could throw out there about this (and it's really not a negative) is that the setup menu has a LOT of options and might be a little overwhelming. Make sure you read through them and fine tune this player to what you need it to do---then sit back and enjoy the show!

These Are The Best..Better Than Philips HUE
on December 20, 2016
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Miami, FL
The app is so much easier than HUE. Colors are better and brighter. However, not as soft as the HUE's colors. What I like about the LIFX is that on the app you can pick a pure color like Blue or Purple and tone it down on the app by adding a little white to the color. The bulbs from LIFX are much brighter than HUE's. And, I have a few light strips which are great and a couple of rooms of the BR30 bulbs in my existing Hi Hat fixtures. The only thing is that unless everyone in your house has the app, it's a pain to control the lights as they have no way to turn them on or off. There is a switch from Logictech that is a 3 way press switch which also works with IFTTT technology. You can easily wirelessly program this click switch (which is very small and thin) to turn the lights on and off. Or, to control a number of other wireless things in your house. For now, the other members in my family can use Echo (Alexa) and speak to turn the lights on or off. The BR30 sized bulbs also state on the package they can be used indoors or outdoor locations (with the HUE you can't do that). Also, as mentioned in many reviews, no hub needed to buy with LIFX system. Installation took all of 3 minutes to screw in the bulbs and download the app. Took longer for me to decide what names to give the bulbs. Grouping them is easy so in my room with four hi hats I can turn all on in a group or turn each one off or on individually. Color rendition is great. Even the shades of white are amazingly true. Soft white, daylight, Flourescent light....you name it, it covers the whole temperature spectrum. Whereas before with regular bulbs you had to choose a temperature and stick with it, you just dial up what you like with these bulbs. Love them so far. And, oh yes...one more thing. If you are going to buy a few, buy the multi packs on Best Buy's website as a pack of 4 is $196 rather than buying 4 bulbs individually at $60/each for a total of $240 (much cheaper). If you still feel you need to compare them after my review, buy one of each brand and a hub for Philips HUE and try them out for yourself. I think if LIFX had better marketing and more product on the shelves in Best Buy they would be the clear winner of which bulb sells more. However, Philips is killing LIFX on marketing and using the fancy packaging in stores. Go for the LIFX over Philips...you won't regret your decision.

Best Remote, Probably More Than Anyone Needs
on November 24, 2016
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Miami, FL
I had a Universal brand remote from about 5 years ago when we got our old LCD Sony XBR tv. My kids HATED it from day one. Buttons were hard to push, it would eventually do different functions than were programmed into it and when I got it the installer had to program all the macros on his laptop which cost a couple hundred dollars. Fast forward to the Harmony brand remotes. I have the new Harmony Elite remote. I programmed all the functions myself which were SO easy to do. And, if you need help the Harmony support via phone call will help and guide you through each and every step (boy they are very patient). The setup was very self-explanatory and all the codes for my TV and stereo equipment were listed. I like the fact that it has a hub system with it so I can operate my components without having to "aim" the remote directly at the tv or stereo to turn it on. It has a great color screen so I added custom pics to the startup screen for my DirecTV and my Marantz stereo and whatever else I needed. What's also cool is because this is the "Elite" model I also have a button on the screen to control a lot of home automation things (like I can adjust my Nest thermostat on the screen...it shows temperature and other important things). I don't have any wireless light bulbs in my house but if I had the Philips HUE it would control them too. I also like that you can customize the serup on the remote for brightness, how much vibration the remote gives off to let you know when you press a button, etc. Most important though is the customer service is very good from Logictech. I called about a setup question when I changed something on my audio setup and they were open 7 days a week to help me out. I would highly recommend this remote and if you don't need all the home functions you could probably go with one of their lesser models which has a lot of similar features and comes along with the same great customer service.

Great Fridge..Some Little Annoyances
on December 27, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
Great looking, great working fridge (cooling is very constant temperature). Only little annoyances are that the ice maker doesn't make that much ice, cubes are TINY and coming out white which my old Kitchenaid didn't do (and it was 16 years old). Sodastream built-in is a nice added plus although would have been nice if they came with a free cartridge for the price you pay for this refrigerator. Doors DO show fingerprints no matter how much they say it reduces the amount of fingerprints (not so...they show up). Looks good in our new kitchen along with all the other Bosch Benchmark appliances we also have. Like the layout (burt takes some getting used to with the short shelves and the ability to store tall bottles) and the ability to use bottom right side for either freezer or refrigerator.

Great Speakers for ATMOS..
on November 17, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I purchased these speakers for my older Definitive Technology towers from about 6 years ago (model BP 7006 Bipolar). These towers are only 11.5 inches deep and the ATMOS speakers here are 13 inches. I stuck some rubber feet under the base of them based on a recommendation from an online review I read somewhere else. I used rubber feet from a company named Isolate It (go on Amazon and look up Sorbothane Hemisphere…I used the 1" with 50 durometer). They stick great to the bottom and I can tell you that I have had my towers rocking out with the internal subs kicking and these top ATMOS speakers haven't moved or even come close to falling off at all. Of course, not many ATMOS enabled movies out yet (VUDU steams some titles). These speakers wee originally $500/pair and have recently been cut to only $300/pair. If you have reservations about getting them because you don't have the BP8060 speakers that they should attach to don't be afraid to try them anyway. Get those rubber spongy feet I mentioned and you will be fine.

Best TV EVER..Nothing Else Compares
on November 13, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I just replaced a 6 year old Sony XBR LCD 52" TV so this was a night and day difference. When we saw the OLED tv's about a year ago, we were drooling over how nice the picture was but of course at $8,000 for a 55 inch and over $10,000 for a 65 inch, it put it out of our reach. So, we started looking at 75" TV's from Samsung and Sony and those were 4K but in it's infancy (so much that everyone we spoke to said 4K is great but there is NO content to watch so it's a waste of money to buy). Fast forward about a year and here we have the newest LG OLED (flat screen) that is also 4K and we purchased at BB for $5K and it even included a bonus FREE LG 4K 49 inch TV. The picture is stunning..deep blacks and colors that pop. We paired it with the top of the line Marantz SR7010 and a Harmony Ultimate Home remote (love this remote by the way). I think this month we alone helped the stock price of BB as we spent a lot of time and money picking out just the right system. I really don't need to say anymore about how amazing the picture is. If you are reading this review, you know already what OLED is and just let your eyes be the judge. Only thing I would recommend is getting the Geek Squad warranty as the technology is still kind of new and who knows what could happen as far as screen burn-in or any other problems that arise…well worth taking the assurance the plan gives you. Oh…one more thing. I highly recommend if you are going to mount this TV on a wall getting the LG mount made for this TV. We purchased our TV in early October and BB didn't sell this mount at that time so we ordered somewhere else. However, the installer from Geek Squad really liked installing with this mount as they didn't have to build it (it comes all put together and they only have to drill holes and mount and level). It also is designed for the OLED TV's and sits nice and close to the wall but also swivels left and right and up and down.

Great Receiver-Tough Choice Between This and Denon
on November 8, 2015
Posted by: tdwin2000
from Weston, FL
I was upgrading our surround system as far as the tv (which we purchased the LG OLED EF9500) and the receiver. We had a 6 year old setup with a Denon 2808CI receiver. This Marantz was my choice between it and the Denon AVR X6200W which both were the exact same price. I think ultimately, I went with Marantz as I had a Marantz receiver in the early 1980's and it's a bit nostalgic for me and at the same time was the choice picked between those two by 3 different Magnolia Design Center stores I went to. The sound is great (I've got it setup with 7.1 system and a zone two pushing 4 patio speakers outside). The Marantz online app is just okay but there are other companies that make apps that work on the Marantz and will control a lot of components in my system. I like the fact the airplay wireless built in to the Marantz makes it very easy to stream music when I'm listening to Apple Music via my Iphone and I can play it in each zone independently or just the zone I choose. From what people told me when I set out to buy a receiver is that Marantz will cost a bit more than one from a competing company but they are built solid and sound great for both home theater AND music…a lot of punch in my music using this Marantz 7010

Good at Cleaning Clothes..Less Features for More $
on July 5, 2013

We had an LG 2487 from 206 we purchased brand new and a matching front load LG dryer too. Recently, the dryer's tub cracked and would no longer work. It was going to be a $300 repair and it would have taken a week to get it repaired...We have kids in camp everyday and need to wash and dry towels and their dirty clothes. I called LG and even though out of factory warranty, they warrant the tub on the dryer for a long time just like the washer. I could have waited for them to ship it but instead decided to now have a mismatched pair and purchased a new washer and dryer (I sold my almost 7 year old working LG 2487 for about $250 with the stand). I liked the feature of a tub light on my old 2487 and am quite surprised the new one doesn't have a light. The top of the line LG with a 5.1 tub has a light on it. I do also like the drainage on the new washer...I think it's much better than the old machine (even though, I still leave the door to washer open after each load). The lights that display what mode the washer or dryer are in are not as clear to read as they were on the old set of machines and the option buttons on the left and right side of these lights are even worse...they should light up. My eyesight isn't what it used to be but they are basically not easily seen standing right in front of the machine. And, why would LG make a machine with a see thru door if you can't see in without a light..and the glass (plastic) door on the washer is tinted which makes it almost impossible to see into the machine. I do like one thing on this new washer a lot...the spin speed of 1200 RPM is the same as on my old machine but for some reason, the clothes in this one seem to be dryer coming out after spin cycle than they were in my old 2487. Overall, it's a great pair of machines...my other close choice was the Samsung washer/dryer combos.
What's great about it: cleaning performance, value for money, quiet
What's not so great: doesn't have a tub light

These Speakers Are Amazing...Thank You Magnolia !
on January 30, 2009
Posted by: tdwin2000

I went to a Magnolia Home theater showroom at my local Best Buy and was blown away by the BP7006 Def Tech speakers...compared to the similar priced Klipsch (Klipsch did have more defined highs but overall, the Def Techs put them to shame). I am using these with a 52" Sony XBR, a Def Tech 2002 center channel speaker and two Speakercraft AIM 8's in the rear ceiling...also using a Def Tech supercube 2 subwoofer...I like the fact that the salesman (manager) put together a package price based on the fact that I was buying a lot of stuff...didn't plan on getting a new receiver either but did wind up getting a Denon 2808 receiver...didn't mind only two HDMI inputs which work just fine for me and although only two HDMI's, this receiver otherwise is identical to the $1,150 2809...and I only paid $599 for it in what was probably the only unopened 2808 around...took some time to find but was well worth it...you can't believe the sound in my home theater system...it ROCKS !!!!
What's great about it: Full Spectrum Sound...Great Value For Price Paid
What's not so great: Nothing So Far...

70" with 240 hz refresh
By RichardS
The speakers are ok, included. The remote is the best on the planet with full QWERTY keyboard on reverse, which is quite small. Best Buy gave me free delivery of this 4K TV. It's twice the resolution of the HDMI high definition tvs. At $2,499, it is a great buy. I cannot speak to longevity yet, obviously, as I just bought it for Thanksgiving 2014. The delivery was flawless, and Best Buy STANDS BEHIND ITS PRODUCTS. I really liked the sale rep in the store and we both always enjoy buying our electronics from him. You do not get a better buy anywhere else. I heartily recommend this tv to you. It automatically adjusts to old analog channels, if you use PORT 4. The manual is available online to read before buying, which is what I did. You cannot find a 4K tv for twice the price which has 240 hz refresh rate, although there are some mfg who do TRY to take a 120 hz tv, and try to make it simulate a faster refresh rate, which you do notice on 4K tv with fast action. I think these refresh rates will actually go up, over time because it's so noticeable on action scenes. The free stand, is perfect. VIZIO did have to put the built-in ok speakers rear-facing to reduce the footprint width-wise, but they might have fit into the space above the included stand and below the tv set. If I have any complaints, it is that I understand VIZIO has an on-going quality problem where sometimes their screen has pixel issues, out of the box. No worries there, as Best Buy definitely stands behind all their products, and always has. Otherwise, areas for thought are that VIZIO could do a better job, or Best Buy one, of explaining 480 and 740 which is not selectable but automatic on Comcast non X1 service, and that either VIZIO or Best Buy needs to explain better the apps included, or Internet streaming. I pressed some of the apps and weather for example, gives you San Francisco or New York weather, only. We have more exploring to do, and have to speak with Comcast about re-installing X1 which I had but did not like because no SWAP, no start and stop on Record which is ALL the show recorded or NONE, and their lousy remote for X1. This is a 4K world, and these items need to be addressed, please. Thank you.

Just Price Dropped This Weekend…Get Some Money Bac
November 23, 2014
We were looking and still are for a 4K TV. Was highly interested in the P series from Vizio as it has full array dimming and 240hz. However, in all the stores, you can't view it upscaling a regular broadcast as they only will show it with their 4K demo disc. And, they just dropped the price quite a bit this weekend…the 70 inch went down $400 and the 65" TV dropped by $700. Even though on paper the P series sounds amazing, trusting my eyes it doesn't compare to the Samsung 8550 series 4K television

After reading every review I could find & going into the store to see diff options, we landed on this one. It is hands down superior to anything you can find at an appliance store. opening the door you feel the quality construction. It's quiet, solid feeling and so beautiful. We worried it would look too modern or futuristic, but it looks great in our kitchen. The 3 temperature zones have been convenient. We use one to chill wine bottles. The smudge proof stainless steel is great and we love the interior details. Not enough room to write all we love about this

Good To Hear
August 26, 2015
We purchased this fridge before Best Buy actually was stocking it. First saw it on the Lowe's website. We like the French door style fridge but not the bottom freezer where stuff gets stacked and you have to dig things out from the bottom. We saw this in the full size model and fell in love with the functionality of it. Got a great price from Best Buy (matched a much lower price somewhere else). Still haven't taken delivery of it as our kitchen cabinets haven't been installed yet. Anticipation is killing us for this kitchen to be completed. Other appliances are all top of the line Bosch Benchmark series.

Best time to buy
By HughesNet
I was interested but at $7k it was to expensive. Then LG put it on sale for $6k and I was pretty sure I would get it. I walked in on Sunday to find it a further $1k cheaper and including a free 49" 4K bonus tv! Sold! The picture looks awesome but even better once I calibrated it a bit based off settings from AVS. Now to pick up a newer receiver that has full HDMI 2.0a support!

Calibration
October 13, 2015
We just purchased this TV last week at the special deal including the FREE 49inch TV too. I am not getting it delivered and installed for a couple of weeks as we are not done fixing up the family room yet. However, you mention you calibrated your new TV already. I was told by numerous people including the Best Buy Magnolia team to wait about a few weeks or 1000 hours of viewing to let the TV break in before adjusting the settings and calibrating it…glad though to hear you are enjoying it and can't wait to get mine installed and hooked up. Also, Best Buy doesn't sell the LG 150 mount which I heard is required for this TV to mount properly on the wall..did you install using the 150 LG mount or some other and how do you like the mount if it is the LG (as far as close to the wall, ability to swivel and tilt, etc…)?

Amazing even on cable or antenna
By Oled
The picture beats any tv out there had Sony 900B, had Samsung 9000 series. This tv has over 240HZ processor the blacks are so pure everything you watch is new and better. This is a tv for those who want the best picture of their lives. Buy the flat it has a no glare coating and has 4K capabilities through HDMI. Sony and Samsung only have 120 HZ in all their sizes how do they justify a 78 " or 79 " tv with 120hz anything fast moving blurs and they hide the fact with their clear motion and clear action numbers. OLED is so good you won't believe your eyes.

Worth waiting for
By tomama from west palm beach
I have been waiting for this TV for over 3 years. I bought a transition TV with the idea i would replace it if OLED technology ever became mature enough to be affordable and was available in a large flat screen model. LG came out with the 65 inch curved screen which was not acceptable and too costly. This new 65EF9500 is even better than the Pioneer Elite Kuro plasma that was universally accepted as having the best TV picture. I don't care about 4K resolution but the 3D is unbelievable. Colors just jump off the screen and i don't notice any blurring of fast action scenes. Blacks are truly black. Bright areas are bright only where they are truly bright; i. e. stars.

Amazing

Color and clarity are crisp and clear. For the amount of time we watch TV we wanted the best out there and this is it. Still waiting for the geeks to mount this, mount was supposed to be free but store clerk SOLD us a mount that was not compatible with this TV. You must use LG mount. For this price LG should include mount in box with TV. I have been waiting weeks and still don't have my TV mounted. Very disappointed in that!

LG OLED mount
November 16, 2015
I posted this in my comments. You MUST get the LG OLED mount that works for the EF and EG series OLED tv's. I purchased one online from another store and had it shipped in 2 days. Works great. The hole pattern and spacing on the back of these TV's is why you should also use this mount ONLY

Nice fridge with limitations
By Handlebar
We replaced a big 19-year-old cabinet-depth Sub Zero 590 with this cabinet-depth Samsung four-door fridge. Warning: when the Best Buy guys arrived with our new Samsung, they said that despite the contract agreement to remove our old fridge, they wouldn't tackle our Sub Zero. So we had two huge refrigerators in our kitchen for 10 days until Chris, our local store manager, and a separate Best Buy delivery crew, confirmed that they would absolutely honor their contract. Two great guys came to the house and hauled our old fridge to recycling, and put this new one in place. Big props to them. We soon recognized we'd also need to upsize our nearby porch freezer to accommodate frozen foods. This fridge has much to recommend, including the built-in Soda Stream system, quiet and efficient motor/compressor operation, LED light strips and fridge-to-freezer convertible lower right compartment. Downside: though the fridge motors are quiet, the icemaker "plops" its results way too proudly, noisily cracking into any surrounding conversation. And the resulting ice is wimpy -- wet, porous, cloudy -- downright embarrassing for use in drinks for friends. We've also run out of ice a few times during the two months we've had this fridge, because the icemaker has limited production and storage. One couple visiting can deplete the ice by the end of the evening. If you entertain, you might want to buy or store some ice elsewhere, in advance. The through-the-door water dispenser is also wimpy. It now takes us about twice as long to fill a glass of ice water from the external door dispenser. We'd read about these concerns before buying, but decided to take our chances. However, we too find them slightly annoying as we live with this fridge. Not a deal breaker, but issues Samsung engineers/designers could improve. They could/should improve water flow, for instance, by using larger hoses and filters on future versions. Our cabinet-depth requirement also left us no choice but to use the lower-right "convertible" compartment as fridge space. That meant we had to buy a bigger, separate, freezer to replace our 19-year-old porch freezer. That switch was due anyway, right? Even so, something's goofy about this fridge design/layout. We're finding that we need to change our shopping habits simply to accommodate this fridge. It'll accommodate one gallon of milk on the door shelf, for example. But when that milk runs low, and we need to get another, and store it until the original is empty, it's a hassle to make space for the "second" gallon. The shelves of this fridge can flip and slide and look good in the showroom, but in real-world use, they are not well designed for taller items like milk by the gallon or many white wine or champagne bottles or other things that need height. So far, we’ve managed to shuffle things around and make it work. But it’s not yet worthy of a “Chef’s Collection” moniker. Or five stars. Even so, we feel that this fridge may be the best option for us, and for many. It has a lot of excellent features: Two compressors; Energy efficiency; Quiet running (except for that goofy ice droppage that creates the occasional “Bang!”); Soda Stream and ice and water through-the-door capabilities (despite the fact that both the ice and the water production are wimpy); Interesting/useful readouts of temps etc. on the doors. And even though we can’t use magnets on the doors (no more grandbaby’s pix there), we can still put them on the sides, which will also hold necessities such as calendars, bottle openers etc. Overall, this is a nice, albeit expensive product, which Samsung could turn into a great product if the company would be willing to confront, and tweak, its limitations.

Great Review
November 29, 2015
We purchased this same Samsung back in July and had it installed into our remodeled kitchen back in September. I'm glad you pointed out some of the real world problems with this fridge as I thought it might have just been ours. The ice comes out "white" and cloudy which was never the case with our kitchenaid fridge that we had for 16 years. The water flow on the door is a little slow but that's not a big problem. I kind of thought that the shelves were in an awkward position before we purchased but it was the nicest counter depth on the market so we purchased it. The space on the top shelf under the ice maker is good for things like yogurt containers that are short...not much more. However, it does keep things really cold and temperature is very stable and that's something that a lot of machines don't do well.

Over rated.

I purchased this received to replace a 14 yr old Sony, which is still good, but has no hdmi and wifi. It has non of the bells and whistles this has, but the amount of power I get from that Sony, which is 110 watts is 10 times More than what I get from this denon. This receiver is nothing, but a disappointment. There are better and cheaper ones out there than this. I never had to open my Sony pass 30, but i do more than 60 to get what the Sony delivers at 20. this is over priced considering its performance.

Should Have Purchased The Marantz SR7010
January 13, 2016
For the same price, you could have purchased the Marantz SR7010. I looked at your Denon and the Marantz back and forth and looked up all the info before purchasing. Deion and Marantz are now the same company. Only thing is, the Marantz has the most incredible sound when playing audio tracks. I'm sure the Denon is good but love the Marantz. If you are still within your 30 day return period, you might want to go audition the Marantz and possibly change out the Denon for the Marantz. Just saying

Great Fridge..Some Little Annoyances
By tdwin2000 from Weston, FL

Works With Our Benchmark Ovens Fine
January 31, 2016
The oven and fridge work well together. Depends on your kitchen cabinets as to whether they will hit or not. The Benchmark ovens have two install options. We chose the flush mount. Our fridge does NOT hit the ovens and our ovens open right hinge (swing left to right). I did but some bumpers for my side of the fridge to stick on so the cabinets on the left of the fridge won't hit my fridge and ruin the cabinet doors of the wood. I purchased Sorbithane Hemisphere Rubber in 50 strength on Amazon

4K is the right way!
By CrazyJ
Only knock is song titles not displayed for CDs. But that is also the case with Samsung and Panasonic. The Oppo 203 will display that info when it hits the market.
Other than that, regular blurays look so good I do not feel the need to buy the 4K versions. Am extremely satisfied with the look, feel, sound and ease of use.
Philips did fantastic for only $300!

Get Your Money Back On Price Match
October 19, 2016
I noticed Best Buy has this unit on sale today for $250 and you paid $300...it's only been a week. Go back to the store and get the $50 back. This seems to be the best choice right now for a 4K UHD player both bang for the buck and quality over the Samsung

Experience immersive entertainment options with this Sony 4K Blu-ray player. Its Ultra HD resolution provides exceptionally detailed screen images with increased brightness and more realistic color, and its support of Dolby Atmos and DTS:X provides cinema-quality sound. This Sony 4K Blu-ray player supports high-resolution audio formats for more accurate music reproduction.

Just purchased the UBP-X800, came home and hooked it up to my brand new Yamaha Aventage A860 (which plays Atmos sound), programed everything through my Harmony Elite controller and put in "Hacksaw Ridge" UHD/Atmos ...no Atmos sound. i to Changed Bitstream

That shouldn't matter. In PCM mode it should still do the ATMOS sound. I too have the Elite remote (in fact I had a problem and Harmony techs are wonderful. In your post you never answered whether switching to Bitstream helped your issue of not being able to hear ATMOS. Did it solve the problem? Not really sure what the advantage is to using Bitstream vs PCM other than the commentary on some movies if you leave it in PCM mode. What is the advantage to using Bitstream?

I installed the X800 4K player to my Samsung 2016 series 8000 SUHD TV. I am using a Audioquest HDMI cable. The picture quality with a 4k disk was terrible. The screen was dark and the picture quality was dull. Any suggestions

Not sure if it would help but try using the AUTO 2 4K feature. By default, it is set to AUTO 1 for Sony equipment (I think they assume you have a Sony TV). Also, if I read it correctly the AUTO 2 option will also upscale NON 4K movies to near 4K quality. I too am using the Audioquest calbe (Cinnamon for me) and my picture looks amazing. Hope this helps

What is the difference between the Sony 800 and the pannasonic ultra 4k player, will it do the same streaming for 4k oled t.v.,and stream 4k from Netflix

I have a 65" LG OLED tv. The one big difference on the Panasonic 4K UHD player is it is THX certified. Not sure how many people would really need that. The price on the Panasonic is pretty steep as it's about twice the Sony's price. I would say for the money this Sony player is a bargain for what it offers in terms of picture and audio quality. As far as steaming Netflix or any other app, the Sony doesn't offer too many. I think it comes with Netflix, Amazon and Vudu. However, if you have the LG OLED tv you have a menu with plenty of other apps you can use so really not an issue.

How long will the $4,999 and free tv promotion go on to?

Through 12/31/15?
Apparently it won't continue thru the end of the year as the TV is not coming with the FREE LG 49" as a bonus any longer and the 65" LG OLED has increased this week from $4,997 to $5,999. Can't believe they went up $1,000 in price. Oh well, glad I have mine already

Safeguard your home or business with this 4-pack of motion-activated NETGEAR Arlo Smart Home VMS3430-100NAS security cameras, which enables you to capture 720p video footage both during the day and at night.

Where do get the batteries online

We have two camers but four batteries only lasted a month and the 2 batteries each cost $12-$14.That's expensive so can you guys help me and find a website that has rechargable batteries
I have the 4 camera setup. The best and least expensive batteries that will fit C123 model can be purchased at Lowes Home store. They are sold in a two pack for I think it was $4.36 (that's for a 2 pack of batteries). The brand is Surefire and they are great lasting batteries. I read reviews on them online and apparently this company makes batteries and electronic scopes for police weapons. The reviews on these batteries were great and I have replaced some of my Duracell C123 batteries and these Surefire's last as long if not longer. For the price, you CAN'T go wrong. Hope this helps you out a lot. Enjoy

HDR Capable yet

Do you know if this EF9500 will support HDR via a software upgrade I have been reading about ?

Thanks Very Much ...
not completely sure but as I understand it, the FLAT OLED's (the EF series) is capable of HDR via streaming and the only OLED's by LG that can play HDR from a source plugged into the TV also (like an HDR blue ray player when they become available the end of this year).
