This movie had a trailer that is a bit misleading, but in a good way. What looks like a standard 'bad guys holding people hostage story' ends up having a a nice variation on that story but I won't give it away here. Also has some genuine humor sprinkled throughout as well.
If you're a serious horror fan, and haven't already seen this movie you'll be safe to purchase this one. Very well-made with an original story (not a remake of any other story that I'm aware of!!) with great characters and heavy on overall tension and atmosphere. Also not reliant on extra blood or gore, for those who think it might have it, just good buildups and geniune scary moments throughout.
Without giving much away, this is a good suspense-building story with a great overall feel and a few choice scares without constantly making you jump like other modern horror stories fall back on. Being based on a real life series of events also helps, hopefully more movies will be made based on the cases the Warrens conducted over the years.

If you're even remotely curious how Robert sounds with new songs nowadays absolutely pick this up! He wisely sings in a bit lower register most of the time which really works with the music, these musicians are also a great fit with the vocals. Everything seems to really work like an old-school album, it's a good listen start to finish, especially for fans of LZ 'III' and "Physical Graffitit'. You just have to give it a couple listens, patience is rewarded in this case!
If you're already a longtime diehard fan who just has to have everything Stevie's ever recorded you'll want this as she put together a pretty good, if not top-shelf collection of her older material she didn't have released officially before. For someone who might pick this up thinking they grabbed a best-of or hits collection those folks may be disappointed but on the other hand it's refreshing to hear something other then her FM hits or 'Stand Back' again. Sound quality is good considering the sources but not nearly as pristine as her last studio album.
So if you're even a casual fan of Sting you'll be surprised by how good 'The Last Ship' album is, it's more engaging than his last couple of endeavors. And since he probably won't ever tour himself behind this album as it was written as a musical, this one time seeing him perform the songs is really good. No doubt whatever stage talent that performs this will be good but Sting really seems to enjoy playing this material himself (maybe because of the lack of touring pressure?). Recommended for both Sting fans and anyone who's already seen the stage production and liked it enough to want to hear it another way.
If you're already a fan of MBV this is a very nice collection of all those older singles that were only on vinyl or expensive imports in the past. The mastering is good, earliest songs are a bit thin but I think that's more the production values of the recordings. Anyone who has their full albums & likes them will want this too, might not grab a first-time listener as much.
Anyone who would want something from Devo other than just a 'hits' collection will be pleasantly surprised with this! The recording is well-preserved for coming out 30 years after this tour, and the set list they played at that time already shows how much great material these guys had besides just 'the hit', which is buried in the middle of their set! Of course if you're a long-time fan that hasn't gotten this rest assured it's not just a reissue of a bad bootleg. Nice liner notes and some pictures from the time period are a nice touch. Recommended!!
This album is noticeably better than the last couple of albums the band has released; for people who perhaps used to listen to them but have gone wayward with them come back and rediscover what they're doing now! Ian's voice has certainly deepened but other than that it feels like the band is more vested in what they're creating. The featured song 'Moses' is actually the least interesting some on here, if you ever liked them you'll like this album!!
