I have the box set and was never happy with the lack of lower end. They got it right this time. The concert tracks on the second disc are worth the step up from just buying the single CD. They did a bad job packaging disc 1 - it was scratched from the factory, but it played just fine.

What a messed-up teenage life! Jennifer Lawrence and her co-star John Hawkes really made me feel for (sometimes fear) their characters. I have not read the book, but I understand that it explains some of the underlying relationships, like Ree's friendship with her high-school friend and her reluctance to have her siblings stay with one of her relatives. They used a real army recruiter in the movie and it is a touching, real moment. THIS STORY IS NOT FOR CHILDREN TO VIEW. The family relationships are too unusual to explain, and there are periods of violence/gore. Only recommended for adults.

This one was hard to get for a while, but if you like his albums like After the Goldrush and Tonight's the Night, you'll probably like this one too. I bought it for Vampire Blues but enjoy the rest of the songs as well.

I compared the new remaster to my old vinyl from the 70's and (I know you hate this) but there is a place for both in my system - maybe not yours. I have a pretty decent Rega turntable and an older Yamaha CD player so take this with a grain-of-salt. My vinyl seems to place the space of the singers and instruments better in the sound field, but the CD is nice clean and punchy. To my ears, I don't hear any digital compression, so the new CD sounds nice and clean and really enjoyable - I really liked Richard Cory and Time to Hide on this CD.
I didn't think the Cow Palace addition added much to the experience, but for a freebie thrown in, who can complain?
