Box set containing four films from the popular 'Batman' film series. 'Batman' (1989) was the first big screen outing for Bob Kane's caped crusader. The streets of Gotham City are no longer safe for criminals, who are being picked off by a masked vigilante in a rubber suit - dubbed 'Batman' by the press. Reporter Alexander Knox (Robert Wuhl) teams with photographer Vicki Vale (Kim Basinger) in an attempt to discover Batman's true identity - an investigation which leads them to the door of mysterious millioniare Bruce Wayne (Michael Keaton). Meanwhile, crime boss Carl Grissom's (Jack Palance) attempt to rid himself of untrustworthy henchman Jack Napier (Jack Nicholson) does not go according to plan, and after emerging physically - and mentally - disfigured from a vat of chemicals, Napier reinvents himself as the psychotic Joker. In 'Batman Returns' (1992), Oswald Cobblepot was abandoned by his parents as a baby. Thirty three years later, bent on revenge, he returns to Gotham City as the Penguin (Danny DeVito). First he begins a warped campaign to become Mayor, helped by millionaire businessman Max Shreck (Christopher Walken); next, he undertakes a mission to murder every first born son in Gotham - a plan which will avenge his own beginnings. It's based on the 1964 children's book by Ian Fleming, the author of the James Bond series, who made it his only such venture away from his usual spy tales. Director Ken Hughes ("The Brain Machine"/"The Trials of Oscar Wilde"/"Of Human Bondage") turns the family entertainment pic into a too cutesy musical (via tunes courtesy of the Sherman brothers) and dutifully executes a whimsical tale for the kiddies. It's co-written by Hughes, Roald Dahl and Richard Maibaum. The inventive sets by production designer Ken Adams are a special treat. It's set in Edwardian England, while the book was set in the present (a much better choice).

The original West World on Blu Ray. A good film transfer, better than DVD or Tape. Plotwise, it is an amusememt park gone wrong. I recommend this to anyone who likes action. Just remember, its from the 70's i believe. Futureworld was the followup.

I really liked Death Race 2000 with David Carradine and S. Stallone. This one is entertaining but i dont know it seems more like an update to 2000 rather than a new "movie-race." The cars are updated and most characters however, the plot follows the original almost to the letter:(

Two talented song-and-dance men team up after the war to become one of the hottest acts in show business. One winter, they join forces with a sister act and trek to Vermont for a white Christmas. This is a romance musical with comedy elements as well. The film has nice picture and sound and gets a thumbs up, at least from me.
