Good remote, button layout could be better

I bought this remote to replace my Harmony 1000. I found that I missed the "hard" buttons of my Harmony One and hated having to always look down at the 1000 to use it, (plus I started having battery issues after having the remote for a couple of years).
This remote works much better for me. The only drawback to this remote, (and it is a fairly big drawback) is that the Play, Stop, FF and Rew buttons are so small and placed so closely together that I can't use my thumb to press these buttons as I normally would. I have to kind of awkwardly hold the remote with my fingertips and use my index finger to push the buttons. Not a complete deal breaker but I prefer to rest the remote in my palm and use my thumb. I tried the Harmony Touch to see if the button placement of that one would work better for me and unfortunately the shape of that remote is so awkward that it makes using the buttons at the top a chore so I returned the Touch and stuck with this one. Other than that the remote works great.
The Harmony software simply ported all of my devices and activities from my 1000 so that I had the remote up and running in about 10 minutes. Very handy if you are replacing a previous Harmony remote with this one.
The fact that you can also use a smartphone or a tablet to control your system is a nice little bonus but other than to test it out when I first got the remote I've never used that feature. If I had wanted to use a touch screen remote I would have stayed with the 1000.

I bought this fitness tracker because I wanted one with a heart rate monitor because I do more weight lifting than cardio. However this unit isn't very convenient for checking your heart rate as the sensor is on the back of the unit itself so you have to take it out of its holder to use it. Makes this pretty much useless for checking heart rate in a gym setting. But it measures your steps and elevation pretty well although every tracker I have used seems to be pretty inaccurate. I like that they give you a bracelet holder and one that clips on your belt so that you have 2 ways to wear it. I wore it on my wrist during the day and then just put the sensor in my pocket at the gym.
Also the unit itself isn't waterproof so you can't leave it on while washing the dishes or taking a shower.

Great product but has it's quirks

I've used the Garmin for about a week and overall I think it's a great product. However on my phone it has this weird quirk of randomly losing the Bluetooth connection. Not only that but after losing connection it won't automatically reconnect and I have to go through the whole pairing process again. This happens multiple times a day. So even though the Garmin does just about everything I want it to do, I am returning it because the re-pairing bug is driving me nuts. I've been to the Garmin forums and see many others complaining about this issue. It looks like there is an issue with certain brands of Android phones. Some have the issue and some don't. So if you are lucky enough to have one of the phones that the Garmin plays nice with then you are all set.
Let's talk about the things that the Vivosmart does well. It has just about all of the features that you would want in a fitness tracker, Pedometer, Calorie tracker, etc. I bought this unit because I wanted one with a heart rate monitor. I bought the premium HRM strap that goes with it and tried it while doing a kickboxing class. I found that the strap was a little annoying. I had it on pretty tight but it still moved around a little. However I primarily do weight lifting so I don't know if the strap would be OK in that venue. I LOVE that the Garmin is water resistant. I had a Withings tracker previously and I don't think that one was water resistant so I was always paranoid about getting it wet when washing my hands after using the restroom. I always took it off when taking a shower or doing the dishes. It's nice to not have to worry about that with the Garmin. You can just leave it on 24/7.
The Connect app is also pretty good. It is supposed to sync with Myfitnesspal but that feature didn't work so well for me.
So the bottom line is I think that the Vivosmart is one of the better fitness trackers out there. I just can't stand the repairing issue that it has with my phone.

Not Prince's greatest work

I bought this CD and only listened to it once. It's got a couple of good songs on it but nothing really memorable. I probably need to give it a couple more listens before I can really write it off but I think the fact that I haven't really had a desire to listen to it again is a pretty good indication of whether or not I like it. Oh well. I still love the guy and will buy anything he puts out.

Why does Michael Bay keep making movies???

Let me preface this by saying that I have thought that EVERY one of the Transformers has been utter garbage. At least the first one is good home theater demo material, (great picture and sound). The second one was even dumber than the first. I don't even remember the 3rd one. I didn't bother to see this movie in the theaters because I knew it would be more Michael Bay tripe. All of his movies are pure fluff. No character development. No semblance of a decent plot. Bay knows that as long as he blows enough stuff up people will like his movies. I don't get it. Why do people keep going to see his movies? I bought this one because even though I knew I would hate it, I thought that it would be another good demo disc. Well I won't be using this as even demo material because the movie was so stupid that I can't stand to put it in my Blu-ray player again. Sure the movie may look and sound great but I'm never watching it again. Maybe I'll sell it on Craigslist for like $10. The movie is beyond stupid. The comedy in it is for 8 year olds. The plot is ridiculous and makes even less sense than the previous ones. Please America stop falling for Michael Bay's garbage so that he can't make any more movies!!!!

I guess the genre of survival horror has run its course because none of the games I have played in the last few years have been been very memorable. I've been looking for a game that recreated the fun and scares of the first few Resident Evil and Silent Hill games and still haven't found one. Evil Within isn't a bad game, it's just nothing new. I got to chapter 13 last night and I'm just simply playing the game to be finished with it. I know these games try to keep the fear level up by limiting your ammo so it seems like you never have a chance but with this game it just leads to endless frustration. Add to that the fact that you have a sprint meter which gets used up quickly and when depleted the character just stands there catching his breath while the monster you were running from proceeds to walk up to you and punch you in the face and you find yourself screaming at the TV, "Run you dope!" The plot is all over the place and doesn't make much sense. You start off in a hospital where everyone has been murdered but then you end up in some sort of other reality with monsters. You stumble across clues that tell you the story of how you fell in love and married your police partner but then your daughter gets killed. Yet this womant is in the game but it's like you 2 don't even know each other. What did the guy get amnesia or something? Then there's this rich guy that got burned in a barn fire and was doing medical experiments on people or something. Then sometimes you go to this other reality where you're in some sort of hospital where you can save your game and power up your character. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
The story is confusing, the gameplay is frustrating, there aren't many real scares. Overall this game is just average.

I basically just bought a set o f UV filters for my Canon 60D to protect it if it is ever dropped. Well I ended up dropping the camera and it rolled down a hill into a creek. The UV filter was smashed but the lens was fine. So these filters are cheap insurance to protect your lenses if nothing else.

This is my second tripod by Sunpak. Their tripod's are extremely cheap but their quality isn't too bad. I especially like that this tripod has a plastic handle for carrying it around. So far this is the only tripod I have seen with this feature. I can't believe every tripod doesn't have this. It makes carrying the tripod much more convenient.
My only gripe is that the tripod doesn't have a pistol grip. The articulating points are plastic and feel cheap but it seems to do the job.
