Fifty years later this movie has aged well and still looks amazing. The Blu-ray price has really dropped, maybe in anticipation of the 4K version coming later this year. If you have a 4K player you might want to wait. The Blu-ray looks very good, but there are bits where I wonder if the picture couldn't maybe look a little sharper.
The commentary by the two stars of the movie is OK, but doesn't really offer much insight. There are people who have studied this movie for years and even written books on it who may have had more to contribute. The sequel, 2010: The Year We Make Contact, is also available on Blu-ray and worth it if you get it cheap.
Like the original Independence Day, this is another Roland Emmerich movie. Some of this movies are more entertaining than others. This one's a bit of a slog. I didn't find myself caring about any of the characters. However, there was some pretty good outer space stuff in 3D, so for ten bucks I guess it was worth it, but only in 3D!

This is a very nice little 3D Blu-ray player. I haven’t had any problems with it. It is a tiny little thing, which is fine, as it works just fine. It has a very small footprint. I wouldn’t mind if the remote was a little bigger to fit my big hands, but it’s big enough, I guess. The buttons don’t light up so if you’re in a dark room you’ll need a flashlight to see what button to press.
I’ve noticed some reviews say it won’t play 4K DVDs. I don’t want to say they’re wrong, but when I put in the only 4K DVD I own it had no problem playing it. I bought the 3D version of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the box says it’s mastered in 4K. That might be only the 2D disk, but I tried playing both the 2D and the 3D blu-ray disks and had problem with either one.
I don’t care much about 4K anyway. I just care about 3D and this player plays 3D just fine. Certainly the price is right. It's very affordable.
Now that no one will be making any more 3D TVs or 3D DVD players in the foreseeable future, it seems like a good time to get one before they’re all sold out.
You might want to consider getting a “region-free” player though instead of this model. It seems like fewer DVDs are being released in 3D, but it is more popular overseas. However many foreign DVDs won’t play on a standard US DVD player. If you find in the future that you have to buy your 3D DVDs from the European market, you may find that you'll need a region-free player.
Maybe not quite as charming as the original Lego movie, but still it was enjoyable. Some of the humor seemed a bit rude, especially for children. Maybe I shouldn't even be reviewing it yet since I've only watched it once and haven't watched any of the supplemental bonus features yet, but basically I liked it and the 3D looked good. A little expensive, as these seem to be lately when they first come out. I'd recommend it to a friend who likes Batman and Lego and computer animation. Otherwise maybe not.
I'd like to give it 4 1/2 stars for "Very Good" but the rating system jumps from 4 for good to 5 for excellent. I thought it was better than just good, but maybe a bit short of excellent. Close call though. 3D is very important to me, and while I'm grateful to have the movie in 3D, I have to be honest and say the 3D conversion could have been stronger. Also there's no audio commentary. Still, overall, the movie was quite a lot of fun. Love K-2SO. Love the way the end dovetails right into Episode IV: A New Hope, the original Star Wars movie. And there was some good 3D, just not consistently throughout the whole thing. Definitely worth owning. I've watched it twice and look forward to watching it again.
This Sony BDPS6500 Blu-ray player features built-in Wi-Fi. To build a complete 3D home theater system, we recommend you purchase a 3D TV, 3D glasses designed for the TV, high-speed HDMI cable and an A/V receiver that is compatible with 3D products.
I've had this player for over a months and it works just fine, no problems at all. Plays all my DVDs and hooks me up with Netflix and Amazon even though my TV is pretty old. I'm just worried now that Sony has announced it's discontinuing manufacture of its 3D products that I'll have trouble replacing my 3D TV and DVD player in the future if they break down.
This DVD is not too bad, but best for little kids, I think. It's watchable, but not particularly memorable. You can watch it online for free in 2D to decide if you like it. The 3D does make it more entertaining.
Note that it was originally broadcast on TV and is only 25 minutes long... 21 if you don't count the credits. That's why it's inexpensive. I guess on TV they stretched it out to an hour with a lot of commercials.
If you were disappointed that there wasn't enough jungle stuff in the recent Tarzan movie, this will make up for it. It's wall to wall jungle and animals and all in gorgeous 3D splendor! Honestly the price seems a little steep right now so if you're on a budget you might want to look for a sale. But this is definitely a fun movie.
The main reason I wanted this deluxe set was to get the 3D disc, and it was worth the wait. Why on earth 3D TV never really caught on with the public I will never understand. To me it's the greatest thing. Anyway, this movie's a lot of fun, especially in 3D, so I'm definitely happy with it.
This movie is somewhat of a science fiction classic (story by the legendary Ray Bradbury) of the 1950's and it was filmed in 3D. The high definition of the Blu-ray DVD shows of the 3D beautifully, although of course you must have a 3D TV and 3D DVD player to get the 3D effect. For such a low price this movie would be a bargain even if it was only in 2D because you get such a nice sharp picture, but see it in 3D if you can!
