Must Have for Sim Racing!
on September 13, 2025
Posted by: explore42
If you are doing any Sim Racing on a flat screen monitor you need to get this monitor instead because it makes it so much more immersive. Plus I was pleasantly surprised that the curved screen does not impact the quality of watching videos or playing non action games. Even though it’s curved the screen provides a uniform image as if it were flat so whether you are doing a spreadsheet or watching a video it all looks good. Bottom line is this Odyssey G75F is great for getting an immersive rush driving a F1 car at top speed but its also great for enjoying a video or even resolving the world’s problems at work.

Pros:
- Bright and colorful screen with 4k resolution and 165hz refresh rate
- The large curved screen makes gaming more immersive
- Easy to access control functions with lots of presets and the ability to fine tune the monitor to your liking
- Three video ports for easy connectivity
- Built in USB hub
Cons:
- Some vertical banding at high brightness
- Shows Glare – reflects light
- No G-Sync native support
User Experience: I performed all the normal testing after unpacking the monitor and verified that there weren’t any dead pixels and that it had a 165 hz refresh rate. While doing the testing I noticed that there was some slight vertical banding about 6 inches in on both sides of the monitor. This was using the standard gaming presets which to me were very bright. To lessen the banding I lowered the brightness from 50 to 35 without making any changes to the saturation or contrast. At this level I found the image to be plenty bright enough and the banding for the most part was no longer visible. Beyond the banding I did not experience any other issues, all the images were very sharp and crisp. Due to the curvature of the screen it is prone to glare especially when there is bright lights near by. Using the menu control located under the center of the monitor you can access the monitor’s setup, menu and source inputs. Samsung has several gaming presets you can use or you can fine tune the monitor to your individual taste. After completing the setup and testing I played several sim racing games as well as watched some 4k video content. This monitor brought my sim racing games to a whole new level and I even found my non racing games to be enhanced due to the view angles and size of the screen.
Features and Specs: This monitor has an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a 3840x2160 4k resolution at a 165 hz refresh rate and a 1 ms response time. The screen curvature is 1000 R = 1000 mm (1 Meter) which means it is designed to match the curvature of the eye thus it is very immersive. It supports HDR 10+ and HDR 600 for the games that support HDR. It has a two USB-A downstream ports, a USB-B Upstream port, two hdmi ports, one Display Port and headphones jack. If you have two devices connected to the monitor you can select Picture in Picture mode to see both screens at once or you can use the Instant auto connect to select the active device. The stand is fully functional in that you can move the monitor in any direction to meet your viewing angle.

Lite Duty – Fun Flying drone
on September 8, 2025
Posted by: explore42
If you are looking for a drone as a beginner or if you have weekend warrior jobs that need a drone then this is one to consider. Overall I think it’s a good entry to mid-range drone meant for lite jobs, aerial photography and all round fun. It has some shortcomings and there is a learning curve for those that are new to flying drones.

Pros:
- GPS positioning and return to home functions
- Several Flight modes that support Beginner to Pro
- 4k video that can be stored on optional SD card
- Good build quality – it’s taken a few tumbles but keeps on flying
- The Snaptain Go app has lots of features and tutorials
- Nice Carrying case to store everything
Cons:
- Only one battery that last about 20 minutes in typical outdoor conditions and it takes quite a long time to fully charge
- No obstacle avoidance features so be prepared for some bumps
- Slow to obtain satellites
- I experienced some connectivity issues while using the Snaptain Go app
Start Up: After unpacking the controller and drone I put them both on chargers, note that they both need a fairly hefty USB power supply to charge them. The tutorials walk you through the initial set up but I ran into troubles because the mobile app to control the drone would never show “connected” and the tutorials didn’t offer any help. After digging out the manual which is supplied I realized that there is a very specific order in which the controller, drone and app have to be initiated. Once I got everything connected I next had to wait for the drone to find the GPS satellites. Even under mostly clear skies in a rural area it took way longer than my GPS watch normally does. With 12 satellites found I was able to fly the drone for about 20 minutes before the battery ran down.

Performance: I found this drone responds reasonably quickly but it struggles to hover in place when there is any amount of wind. The controller is easy to hold and the controls are laid out nicely for easy operation. The Snaptain Go app has a lot of features including the Return to Home button which I tested several times. The vast majority of the time the drone landed within 5 feet of the launch site even with winds. Overall I think flying this drone is fairly easy but because the drone lacks obstacle avoidance features it will fly into something if you aren’t careful. The 4k video capability and the photo mode both worked without issues but the photos seemed to be less crisp than I would have expected at this resolution. The drone does have digital stabilization which does help with imaging. The gimble control worked well and it was nice to be able to control the angle of the camera without having to manipulate the drone’s flight angle. Overall the photos and video stored onto the optional onboard SD card were plenty good enough for sports events, family gatherings or inspecting a roof or building.

Must have for Ring sizing
on September 4, 2025
Posted by: explore42
The kit comes with twelve plastic rings sizes 4 through 15 that are easy to remove and use to find your perfect fit. The rings are made out of a smooth hard plastic or composite that do give you a sense of actually having a real ring on your hand. They are an off white so they are obvious when you wear one outside your home. I found two that were close to fitting my fingers and wore them for extended periods to figure out which one would give me the best overall fit especially when I exercise. My fingers tend to swell when I run or go on long walks and I wear half gloves when I cycle so I needed a size that would accommodate all my activities and not just work and sleep. After a day of testing I was able to decide on one ring and I am confident that it is the right size for me. I also verified that even when my fingers were swelled from exercise that I could still get the ring over my knuckles. I highly recommend getting the sizing kit so that you get the most of your ring.

Puts you into the Game
on July 17, 2025
Posted by: explore42
Overall these headphones provide immersive gaming and great audio quality due to the large drivers and software provided to tune it to your liking. I found the fit and feel heavier than I like and the foam ear muffs didn’t quite seal as tightly as I expected but that is an individual preference which yours may be different. Because they are large full ear covering headphones they do get warm especially after intense gaming sessions. The removeable mic has its good and bad side but overall I liked it. Bottom line is if you like the fit these headphones will put you into the game vs just hearing it.

Pros:
- Great immersive and THX sound quality especially for gaming
- Good ANC
- Vocal updates and status notifications
- Synapse 4 software offers lots of options and control
- 2.4 wireless and Bluetooth connectivity
- Removeable microphone
Cons:
- Big headphones = can get hot and heavy after a while
- Big volume control sticking out of an ear muff – almost Frankensteinish
- No RGB
- No flip up Microphone mute function
- Not the best fit for me around the ears
Performance: The Synapse 4 software has a THX demo that really showcases the immersive ability of these headphones. Playing Forza 5 it was quite obvious that the sound was much more immersive. Even playing War Thunder which isn’t THX still provided a much more 3d sound stage than normal. The overhead aircraft sounded directly over me as they flew past my position. In FPS games you definitely get more directional sounds which are an advantage. The microphone is an attachment so it’s not built into the headphones. Because of this it has a separate mute button vs the raise and lower boon type mic on other headphones. I was able to have the headphones connected wirelessly via the dongle while also connected to my phone via Bluetooth. Because it uses voice status updates instead of cryptic beeps all the functions are much easier to perform. All the controls on the headphones were easy to reach and recognize by touch. Razer provides full control of the headphones via the Synapse 4 app which is quite helpful and easy to use. The software list the games on your computer and will actually tell you which games support THX so you can get the most out of headphones.
Fit and Feel: These are heavy headphones and the large volume control sticking out of the ear muff give you a sense that they are extra heavy. In reality the fit is comfortable but a tad on the heavy side which combined with the full ear muff can get noticeable over time.

Lots of Ink but has a Strange Exit Tray
on July 17, 2025
Posted by: explore42
If you are tired of running out of ink and having to buy expensive cartridges then this is a great option. This “Supertank Printer” comes with a lot of ink that you can visually see in the printer vs a cartridge that you can only guess how much it holds. The overall looks and operation are great but you have to get used to the odd exit tray. With this printer a lower drawer has to be opened for the exit tray to extend out. Epson has automated this so once you print the exit tray opens the drawer and extends out. While this works fine it just looks odd vs having a dedicated exit tray like my Epson WorkForce printer had. Also if you tilt the control panel up for viewing it too leaves a major opening into the inner workings of the printer which can’t be good.

Pros:
- Eco Tank with lots of ink
- Good print quality and speed
- Scan and copy capabilities
Cons:
- The display is very small and not very clear
- The control buttons aren’t the best
- Exit tray when extended leaves the lower drawer of the printer open
Setup: Setting up the printer was easy, I downloaded the app on my iphone and just followed the steps. Filling the tanks using the included ink bottles was simple and very clean, no mess or dripped ink anywhere. Using the app I was able to get the printer on my wireless network and then I just downloaded the Epson app for my main pc. All the other pcs I just downloaded the printer drivers instead of the app. The whole process was simple and quick.
Features: The printer has a 250 sheet paper tray and can do double sided printing as well as print photos. It can be connected to your devices via WiFi, AirPrint, USB and Ethernet. It has a built in scanner that can scan documents or provide copies of originals. The printer has a small 2.4” display that can be difficult to differentiate the icons in the screen. The control buttons are soft bubble style buttons and don’t feel solid but they work fine.

Extremely Fast and Reactive but Can Be Noisy
on July 10, 2025
Posted by: explore42
I like Razer gaming mice but this new DeathAdder V4 has noisy top switches. Much more clicky than either the Death Adder V3 or the Basilisk mouse that I use a lot. The switches work fine but they feel less solid especially at the break point where it clicks. If you can get past the clicky switches this mouse has a lot to offer. The Synapse 4 software allows you to customize the mouse responsiveness to your hand which improves your game.
Pros:
- Ultralight and super fast wireless connectivity
- Fully customizable buttons and macros
- Synapse 4 gives you total control with lots of options
- Intelligent desk dongle that indicates power, polling rate and connectivity
Cons:
- Loud top switches that feel less solid than the DeathAdder V3
- No RGB lighting but that give you long battery life
Grip and Feel: This mouse is pretty much identical to the previous DeathAdder in form but its even lighter. Its so light that I can cover more area and respond just that much faster especially in FPS games. Razer includes rubberized grips which are nice for us who like a grippier surface. Overall I think this mouse is designed for medium to large hands due to its curvature and length.

Software Features: Razer’s Synapse 4 software gives you total control over all aspects of the mouse. You can do all the usual stuff like set your DPI sensitivity and polling rate as well as create game macros and profiles. A couple of the more interesting things is that it lets you set your sensitivity to a previously calibrated mouse. Under the advanced features you can set the dynamic sensitivity using presets or you can set up a customizable one. I started off using the Classic setting but now I am leaning at tad more towards the Natural preset for most games. There is a Jump preset that I am just checking out in my Sniper Elite game – all these settings allow you to customize the reactivity of the mouse to your hand and your game. The presets really affects the mouse acceleration and the app shows you the results on a graph. You can also set the rotation which is the angle of the mouse to get a horizontal line. This lets you hold the mouse at a slight angle and still get straight axis movement. Its definitely something I have never seen in the past. The software also links the profiles you create in the app with your games so you can open the game and go without having to change the configuration every time.

AI ready but has limited USB ports and Ram
on July 7, 2025
Posted by: explore42
If you are looking for a laptop that can help you delve into Ai tools while supporting business applications and typical home use this is a good choice. The processor and laptop are built to support AI apps. My only complaint about this laptop is that it only has a single USB-A port and two USB-C ports (one is needed for power) and this limits the devices that can be attached.
Pros:
- FHD Touchscreen
- 2-in-1 design with strong hinges
- Built in NPU for Ai tools
- 1 tb of NVMe storage
- Dell build quality – solid, light and portable

Cons:
- No ability to add additional Ram although the included 16gb should be enough for most applications
- Limited number of Ports – only one USB-A and two USB-C
Display: The display is FHD at 1920 x 1200 resolution and is good for the typical office apps, web browsing or watching videos. It’s very viewable whether you are using it as a laptop or as a tablet. The display is bright and has good contrast while providing deep color saturation at the normal viewing angles of the screen.

Storage and Memory: There is only one NVMe slot for storage but this laptop has a 1 TB gen 4 card which should be plenty for most users. There is 16gb of DDR4 ram installed and for a laptop in this category that should be sufficient however the RAM is not upgradeable per Dell’s documentation.
Performance: The laptop comes with an AMD Ryzen AI 7 350 processor which is built to support Ai apps by having its own Neural Engine that is capable of executing 50 TOPS. It also includes a built in GPU so you get improved graphics capabilities. I’ve included the Geekbench 6 benchmarks below for reference.
Geekbench 6 Scores:
Single Core: 2833
Multi Core: 11831
Open CL: 21347
Vulkan: 23933

Good Vacuum but needs a Charging Station
on June 18, 2025
Posted by: explore42
This Shark PowerPro Flex vacuum does a good job cleaning but its lack of a charging station or wall mounting or storage for the attachments make it a less desirable option. My older stick vacuum had a wall mount which held the charger and attachments which made making sure it was charged easy. With this one the unit is bent over in an upright storage position. The issue is that the charging port in the storage position is close to the floor which is not convenient to reach and there is no place to store the attachments with the vacuum. If you can get past the mounting/charging issue then this is a really good stick vacuum – just don’t lose the charging brick!
For me a stick vacuum is all about convenience, a quick grab and go to get whatever needs to be cleaned up without having to drag out the big vacuum or trying to get the robot to find the mess. I found this vacuum to be a tad heavier than my two previous stick vacuums, but its heft provides extra power that the other two lacked. You can really see the difference when sweeping the hardwood floors, it picks up everything. The auto detect feature is great for going from the hardwood floor to the throw rugs without having to do anything special. There is a light on the vacuum head as well as the vacuum handle to indicate when it’s on carpeting or hard wood. The downside on the additional weight is that my wife found that the top of the handle dug rubbed her thumb. This became more noticeable when she was using the “flex” mode because when you flex the vacuum your hand does all or most of the support because the floor head not directly connected. The flex feature is great for getting under furniture but I found that it was much harder to steer the vacuum head. The vacuum power including the boost are really strong whether you are using it on the floor or as a hand vacuum. The stick section and attachments are reasonably tight and use a push tab to release or lock. The dirt bin is clear so you can see what its picking up and emptying the bin is simple with a tab release that drops the bottom of the bin.

Racing Excitement with less Frustration
on June 17, 2025
Posted by: explore42
The Moza R5 is an entry level direct drive Sim Racing bundle for beginners or casual racers. Its 5.5nm wheel base provides enough forced feedback to make driving more exciting while keeping the cost reasonable. The pedals are solid but the brake pedal lacks the true feeling of a brake pedal. The on/off button is located in the back and not easily found which isn’t convenient. I mounted mine on a portable racing stand so I could race at my gaming desk or in front of the big tv screen. I was pleasantly surprised by how many of my racing games were playable without much input due to Moza’s Pit house software – see the full list below.
Pros:
- Direct Drive wheelbase, its 5.5 nm is ok for beginners and casual racers and definitely a step up from belt or gear driven wheel bases.
- Excellent quick release on the steering wheel makes it very sturdy
- 22 configurable buttons on the steering wheel allows customization
- Pit House software limits the frustration of getting the racing apps working
- Hub support for optional hand brake, shifter, emergency stop and dash
Cons:
- The brake pedal lacks a load cell to give you a real brake pedal feel
- The on/off switch is a small button on the back which can be difficult to find especially if you are trying to shut the system off when the wheel is engaged.
- Limited to PC only
Setup and Racing: I mounted the wheelbase to a fold down racing stand that I picked up at Best Buy. Although this wheelbase can be mounted on a table I like the ability to adjust its height and angle which you cannot do with a table. I also mounted the pedals to the base to complete the setup. Using the stand I can race at my gaming desk or take it in front of the TV and race using the big screen. Following the simple directions I had everything mounted and cabled in a very short time. Anyone who has been sim racing knows that the biggest Frustration occurs when you try to get your game to recognize your wheel and then once that is done getting the game to allow you to assign the correct features and buttons to your wheel and wheelbase. As noted above Pit House does a good job of taking care of most of the more popular games.
Experience: This wheel/wheelbase is very smooth and quiet when being used. I didn’t notice any heat issues nor drop outs when going through my testing. At 5.5nm the wheel provides enough feedback to enhance the driving experience but I would recommend moving up to the 9 or 12 nm bundle if you plan on racing a lot. The wheelbase is very responsive and the Pit House gives you full customization over the reactiveness and functionality of the wheel. The biggest frustration with Sim Racing is getting the game to recognize the equipment and then letting you set the parameters and assign the buttons. Moza’s Pit House does a good job of finding your games and telling you which games need to be configured manually and which games Pit House can configure for you. Moza provides guides for those who want to delve into the finer adjustments using Pit House as well as recommended settings for games that are not automatically configured.

Games Played just using Pit House’s setup
- Assetto Corsa
- Assetto Corsa Competizione
- Forza Horizon 5 on Steam
- BeamNG.drive
Games Played using Pit House’s setup but needed additional configuration
- F1 2023
- F1 2022
- F1 2018
- Dirt Rally 2
Games Played that needed more setup than Pit House provided to get it functional
- Forza Horizon 4 on Microsoft
- Automobilista 2
- Dirt Rally

Sound Improvement
on June 7, 2025
Posted by: explore42
This soundbar delivers an immersive experience from a small form factor that would work well in a small to midsize room used for watching TV and movies or gaming. It’s simple to install but it does require the Bravia Connect app to fully configurate the virtual sound stage settings in the soundbar. The downside is that it lacks physical control buttons on the soundbar and the led indicators aren’t the most intuitive.
Overall this soundbar provides good sound quality considering its size. The immersive sound stage is impressive for a 3.1 system and is definitely an improvement over the typical TV speakers. The soundbar produces good mids and highs that sound clear and sharp whether you are watching a movie, playing a game or listening to music. The subwoofer is matched well with the soundbar and it provides deep enough bass to make the overall sound more realistic. It won’t rattle your windows but it does a good job of providing enough umph without too much distortion. The center speaker allows you to hear conversations clearly and there is a Voice setting on the remote that will enhance the dialogue. Sony includes a remote control to control the soundbar or you can use your Bravia TV or the Bravia Connect app on your phone or ipad. The only downsides I have with this soundbar is that it lacks an indicator display and control buttons. There is a single LED that shows blue or white or red depending on the connectivity status and a second LED that blinks when a function like volume is pressed on the remote control. So you don’t see an indicator that shows the actual volume or subwoofer levels on the soundbar, to get that you need to use your phone and Bravia Connect app or your Bravia TV screen. Secondly, the only control on the soundbar is the on/off button. It doesn’t have an input control button or a volume control button so you have to use the remote or mobile app.
Installing this soundbar was simple because the Bravia Connect app walks you through the necessary set up functions and the soundbar automatically pairs with the subwoofer. The app verifies that the HDMI cable is properly cabled to the right ports in your tv to help eliminate any audio issues. The soundbar supports HDMI eARC but also has an optical cable port for using an optical cable. Connecting with Bluetooth was just as easy, once I set the soundbar input to Bluetooth via the remote it readily paired with my iphone. In the Bravia Connect app you set the distances from the soundbar to the couch and soundbar to the ceiling to help configure the immersive sound stage.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Is this printer good for home use from a computer and my iPhone?

As long as you are printing about 100 to 200 pages per month this printer should work for you. The HP Smart software works on my Ipad so it should work on your iphone. Download the app from the Apple store and check it out. I have the software on my ipad and my windows laptop and can print without any issues. There are also buttons on the printer if you would prefer to use them vs the software app. This printer can scan, print and copy but it cannot receive faxes. You can send a fax using HP's cloud services but it cannot receive a fax. Also if you do a lot of color printing realize that the colors are in a single cartridge with this printer so if one color is used up you have to replace the entire color cartridge.

Enhance your mobile play experience with these Emerge gaming triggers. They can be added to smartphones to provide more satisfying left and right buttons, and the tactile switches are great for use with first-person shooters. These Emerge gaming triggers have suction cups to hold them securely in place during use.

Will they work on an iPad mini???

As long as you can download the HP Sprocket software from the Apple store and you can turn on the Bluetooth connectivity on your IPAD the printer should work fine.

Say goodbye to cords and cables with these Skullcandy Sesh true wireless headphones. Bluetooth technology seamlessly connects to your smartphone, tablet or PC, letting you stream music or take phone calls with the built-in microphone. These water-resistant Skullcandy Sesh true wireless headphones come with a charging case, providing up to an extra 7 hours of listening time.

What is the maximum distance that the blue tooth works before it disconnects from your phone??

The documentation for the Skullcandy Sesh says 30 feet but that varies with the device you are connected to and the environment you are in. I found that I could easily go to over 30 ft when connected to my IPAD but my at that same distance I would get drop outs when connected to my Samsung phone. The things to consider are the environment - thickness of walls and floors as well as other electronics that may be supplying interference.
