An adaptation of the best-selling novel by Andy Weir, Mark Watney (Damon) is an astronaut left for dead on the Red Planet after a disaster on a manned mission to Mars. As Watney struggles to use the equipment left on the planet to survive, NASA and his fellow astronauts must come up with a way to rescue him. The movie is smart (most of the science is fairly accurate), funny, and an ode to human ingenuity. Damon kills it as usual and the stellar supporting cast keeps the non-Mars scenes going as well. After a couple of mis-fires, director Ridley Scott returns to form and brings his typical visual flair and strong pacing to the affair. The extras on the Blu-Ray are a bit skimpy, but the movie looks great, especially on a big screen TV. Well worth the purchase.

Using "rabbit ears" to get a TV signal in 2015 is a bit old fashioned, but if you're a cord cutter who still wants to get local channels, this product is a good value. Just screw in the cable to the back of an HDTV (or into a converter box if you're using an older TV) and you will be able to pick up your local network (ABC, CBS, FOX, etc). affiliates, as well as independent local stations. The picture looks great and the range seems to be quite good. According to the box, if you have a 4K TV you can still use the antenna and your TV will upscale to near 4K quality.

But there are still strange phenomenon to discover...and the growing government conspiracy involving the existence of aliens and connections to Mulder's family. If you're a millennial there's a good chance the first Christmas movie you saw in theatres was Home Alone. The combination of writer John Hughes, director Chris Columbus and a great cast (Catherine O'Hara as the mom, Joe Pesci and Daniel Stern as the crooks, and the biggest child actor of all, Macauley Culkin) produced an outrageous movie that was both very funny but had a lot of heart. It's hard to believe that it's now 25 years old and Culkin is now old enough to run for President, but the film has held up pretty well, looks great on Blu-ray, and features some good extras, including an audio commentary with Columbus and Culkin. It's been on sale recently, so it's a great bargain
