When Ron Howard first attempted to move into a film career, it was legendary producer Roger Corman who gave the-artist-formally-known-as-Opie a shot. This twin-pack contains the two films Howard starred in (one of which also served as his debut as a feature director) for Corman - Eat My Dust and Grand Theft Auto.
A lot of damage for sure.. would not want to guess the cost of the damages, would be a heck of a lot more money now!! I love the car chasing crash up movies. I just wish they wouldn't have crashed up the Chargers. Good movies for the era though
Steven Spielberg's variation on Peter Pan, Hook comes to DVD with a superb widescreen anamorphic transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 2.35:1. Closed-captioned English soundtracks are rendered in both Dolby Digital 5.1 and Dolby Digital Surround. English subtitles are accessible. Supplemental materials include theatrical trailers, talent files, and production notes. This disc offers excellent picture and sound quality, making it worth a look, especially considering the reasonable list price.
Sure miss Robin Williams, and seeing him as Peter Banning, the uptight business man turned into, well we know. Peter and his family Tavel to England to visit Granny (Maggie Smith). Granny has magic and the Peter we thought we knew becomes a little boy again. His business affairs are all forgotten, and Peter and his family become alive.
William Dear's remake of Angels in the Outfield comes to DVD with a widescreen transfer that preserves the original theatrical aspect ratio of 1.85:1. The English soundtrack is rendered in Dolby Digital Surround. French and Spanish subtitles are accessible, and the soundtrack is closed-captioned. Although there are no supplemental materials of any consequence, this Disney/Buena Vista release should provide any family with solid viewing entertainment.
The brief appearance of the kid's Dad is memorable in retrospect, since it is played by the actor who also appears in ABOUT SCHMIDT, and does a wonderful job there as well. Danny Glover fills an absolutely brilliant role as the coach, and eventually fills bigger shoes in the lives of the two main children. Tony Danza plays a role as a "has-been" pitcher, who is given one final moment of glory thanks to the magic of the Angels, and the intercession of the young child lead ( you can see why when you watch the film). It is all very heart warming stuff in many ways, and whilst it has a lesson or two for many people, it is mainly very fine entertainment.
The Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad is pretty cute and can really be viewed at any time. But the Legend of Sleepy Hollow is definitely a Halloween favorite that I still love to watch as an adult. Bing Crosby is the main voice/narration for this animated film and his voice is a real throwback to a specific time in my childhood so it's also nostalgic.
Dumbo is a cinematic milestone and masterpiece of family entertainment. The storyline and characters are well rounded enough (just) to entertain adults and older children and the quality of the animation both holds children's attention. In addition, the moral of the story is well presented without being clumsily overstated as in much modern animation
Any musical theatre minded high schooler needs to see this classic. There are parts I wouldn't mind fast forwarding for my younger ones due to length of film, but it is a film to know
This is another wonderful roadshow release. This one nearly got away with key elements deteriorating. A great restoration of an important piece of work. If you have a decent home theatre, I hope you will consider getting this for your collection
Wow< Marvel has done it again and picked the right actor to portray Dr Strange. There is no way they could have made the movie this good years ago without the CGI they have today. ILM does it again.
