Excellent earbuds for non-Apple Ecosystem users
on January 7, 2022

Immediately when I began use of these earbuds, I will say that I was blown away by the quality. These are not just AirPods knockoffs but from the case to the available features, they are deserving of their own accolades as LG has done an excellent job here.
With the unpackaging experience, I will be honest that the packing and presentation of the LG True Tone earbuds is subpar. The packaging for these could as easily be the packing for $30 dollar earbuds as almost $200 ones. However, sometimes amazing things can come wrapped in misleading exteriors because these earbuds have outstanding audio. I have long been an AirPod Pros user, and these LG earbuds are most definitely on par with the AirPod Pros for having high quality sound. These might even outstrip the Airpod Pros by a hair or two for bass quality and presence. I have found that every little bit of bass quality you can squeeze out of earbuds this size is impressive. I am not in love with the touch and tap interface. The controls are right at the top of the stalk of the earbud where you would normally grasp or push on to push them back into your ears if they loosen and that makes you pause the song or change the noise cancellation setting. I have been getting used to having to grip around the outside the stalk of the earbud to make adjustments to the earbud.
I really like this case. The case has good curvature with soft touch surfaces that ensures it does not protrude or poke too much in your pocket if that is where you carry them. There are good cases for them, so if you prefer to clip these to keys or a lanyard, that could be an option for you. The inside of the case is great as well. I find that it is highly intuitive to put the earbuds back into their proper spots and there is some nifty blue lighting for when you open the case up which is nice in the dark when you want to put them back. The UV sanitation light works only when you are charging the case, but I think this is a cool feature to have available. Just note, the UV light is not going to be able to kill bacteria and sanitize these earbuds through layers and layers of earwax, so make sure to do your part and keep these clear and free of your ear gunk for a proper sanitization experience.
I love the USB-C pass through cord included for airplane’s etc. Essentially, you plug the 3.5mm jack end of the cord into the auxiliary port of a given device and then plug the USB-C plug end into your case while you have the earbuds in your ears. You then toggle the switch on the side of the case, and you should be in business. You can also utilize this “wired-wireless” feature with computers or televisions when you don’t want to bother with Bluetooth connection. On the note of Bluetooth connection, these earbuds do have occasional little random audio glitches and stutters that I have found nearly unavoidable with most all Bluetooth headphones. However, the range on these is absolutely outstanding. I was doing chores in my house the other day and normally when I go in my garage and close the door with my phone in the living room, the audio starts to stutter and drop with other Bluetooth headphones, headsets, and earbuds I have tried. The True Tone FP9’s held in there and maintained a solid connection to my iPhone 8 as dependably as my AirPod Pros!
Overall, I feel that for non-Apple ecosystem individuals, these are an absolute no-brainer for AirPod like convenience and audio quality. For Apple users, I feel like there is so much more utility with the AirPod Pros that it is difficult to depart from at this small of a price difference. However, LG has made a winning product here and they deserve your attention and time as you are making your purchasing decision. Thanks for reading and hope this has helped lend another perspective!

Fun for adolescents, questionable for adults
on December 29, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
To begin this review, I will say that without a doubt, this is a great scooter for the price and under proper usage cases it is bound to give its users tons of enjoyment and possibly even operate as a decent source of transportation. This scooter has its flaws, but these in general are overcome by its many excellent features. This scooter would seem to be best suited for young adults or adolescents and for lighter riders despite its claim of 264Ibs weight capacity. With that in mind, let’s go into the main review.
To start with, the setup of this scooter. It came in the box with plenty of foam and plastic protection and with a thorough instruction booklet and some attached instructional leaflets. The only assembly that was required was screwing the handles into the handlebar attachment. This came as my first disappointment though, as I found both the threads of the handles and the slots in the handlebars were oxidized with rust. This made screwing the handles in a bit sticky and a tougher process than necessary. They definitely need to give these assembly points a better coating during assembly. It also makes me uneasy as I now wonder what other areas in the scooter might be oxidized or prone to it. My solution for now was to apply a light coating of bearing grease to the threads to help mitigate the spread of rust and ingress of moisture. Aside from this hang up, the rest of the assembly was easy and I had this thing fully charged within a few hours (up to 3 hours is the charge time per the instructions) and ready to go.
This scooter turns on and has three speed modes: a sport mode represented by a solid encircled “S” symbol on the display with 15mph top speed, a normal mode represented by a flashing encircled “S” symbol with 11mph top speed, and the absence of a symbol in the portion of the display for eco mode, which has a top speed of 7mph. The scooter must be kicked forward to start, meaning you have to be going at least 1.8mph to be able to engage the 250W motor and take off. As a 200Ibs full grown adult, I found this scooter to be a comfortable fit. The handlebars are up high and are wide enough to encourage good balance and a good grip. Additionally, the deck of the scooter is nice and wide and is covered with skateboard-like grip tape for good traction. I found this scooter much easier to balance on and ride then my Unagi E350, which requires a bit more mental engagement to stay balanced as a shorter, narrower scooter.
The max weight this scooter claims to support is 264Ibs which is pretty exceptional, but I am doubtful as to how well this slightly anemic 250W motor could propel a heavier individual than me along. This scooter is quite slow to accelerate at my 200Ibs weight, and this scooter is definitely not meant to propel heavier individuals up hills of any significant incline. I tried using the motor up some steeper driveways in my neighborhood and the motor flat out failed to keep the momentum going. As such, I would say this scooter is probably suited to smaller individuals or adolescents on flatter terrain. Best Buy has this categorized under “kids scooters” and I would say that is fair, but smaller adults and juveniles can still get a kick out of this. Just note, the 9-mile range is, in my experience, based on using the eco mode and lighter riders. I found the battery went from 5 to 2 bars only after 4 miles or so of riding at full 15mph speed on flat, suburban paved terrain at my weight.
The folding of this scooter while not the most elegant on the market is highly functional and makes this thing easy to carry around. At 36Ibs, the scooter feels manageable and can be lifted into a trunk of a car of hiked up some apartment stairs with reasonable ease. The ride of the scooter is decent enough considering it is utilizing 6.5” solid tires with no suspension. My complaint here is that this thing sounds like a rattle trap on bumpy pavement and asphalt and while this may not bother a younger person too much, it is a little embarrassing and too attention grabbing at times as an adult. The headlight of the scooter serves to signal your presence to drivers at night but does not shine far enough or bright enough to provide truly excellent visibility in true darkness when riding fast. The electric brake is actually fantastic and brings this scooter from full 15mph speed to a stop within a reasonable distance. There is a traditional mechanical brake on the rear of the scooter as well for extra assurance of safety. There is no built-in horn or bell, so an attachment will be necessary for this. The Bluetooth speaker on this scooter is located on the bottom of the deck of the scooter and is as intuitive to pair with as any normal Bluetooth speaker and actually has surprisingly good volume and audio clarity. I am not ashamed to admit that I got absurd enjoyment out of blasting my tunes while going 15mph down the road.
Altogether, I would recommend this scooter probably to kids 12 years and older, with a disclaimer that adults can use it but it may not provide as comfortable or quick a ride as some of the higher-end options out there. For the price though, going back to myself as a teenager, this scooter would have been a joy and definitely would have gotten me to school quicker on some of those mornings I was late, haha. Altogether, I can recommend this scooter, just be aware of some of the limitations I have shared. Thanks for reading and hope this review has helped you!

Comfortable, precise wireless gaming audio!
on December 18, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
This is the third Logitech headset I have owned over the years, and as with my others, it has not failed to impress.
This headset was easy to set up and the Logitech GHub software on Windows is, I would contest, some of the best and most easy to use in the gaming industry. It is very reliable as software goes with minimal crashes and other issues. Hooking up the headset with the included lightspeed USB-A adapter worked seamlessly. This same connector can hook up to a PlayStation, so this headset is very flexible in that regard!
The headset itself is a bold and interesting departure from what I have traditionally seen in my other gaming headsets. The adjustment of the headband comes from two points: a multicolored reversible soft suspension strap that has two adjustment positions and the earcups slide up and down with about an inch of adjustment. I have an average sized dome for a dude, so the longer of the two adjustments on the headband that it came set on fit me well. The smaller adjustment seems like it would fit adolescent and/or smaller heads well. Be warned though, if you have a huge cranium, we are talking about those of you who are afraid to tear crew neck tee shirt head holes etc., this may lack the adjustability to be comfortable for you. I actually quite like this suspension headband set up as it relieves your head from having to have thick foam shoved against it. This, in effect, means that your head stays cooler which I appreciate for my marathon gaming sessions!
The earcups of this headset are a nice, rectangular yet contoured shape that feel as if they achieve a nice seal with without being overly constricting. The cups are also, thankfully, nice and cool. You could cook some over-easy eggs on my ear lobes when they get hot from a long gaming session, so I was pleased to find that the headset earcups present here did not roast my ears.
The battery life on this headset is EXCELLENT. They claim 33 hours on 50% volume, but I am currently pushing 25 hours on one charge at almost max volume with 15% of my battery left. That is amazing to me. An included USB-C cable charges this headset.
As it goes for the all-important audio experience, I find these to be probably a 7 out of 10 on the scale of my audiophilic desires with gaming headsets. The EQ adjustments are great in the software and even as it comes setup from Logitech, the sound is excellent. I play a game called Hunt Showdown that utilizes binaural audio as part of its gameplay. To be competitive in this often stealth-driven game, having excellent audio is crucial. This G535 headset exceeded my expectations in-game as I was able to track footsteps and movements of other players with great accuracy. The general listening experience is great too. I ran through my playlist on Spotify and while I am always craving a little more bass, I found that these had balanced trebles, mids, and bass all the way through. I found I like the FPS EQ setting the best for my overall listening experience. I will note that the max volume on this headset is lower than my previous headset, but this is not too great a concern for me as I probably need to not be listening to my music so loud anyways, haha. The microphone flips up and down for mute which I like for a microphone in general on headsets as this also gets it out of my way when I am not gaming. The audio quality of the microphone is great; my friends I game with and hang out with on Discord could hear me loud and clear with no complaints of static or inconsistent voice signature.

Altogether, I give this headset a solid 5/5 recommendation for a great wireless headset that is not overcomplicated in its build or features yet offers a distinctly excellent user experience all while being comfortable and easy to set up. Thanks for reading and hope this helps guide your purchase decision!

An elegant electric scooter, with limitations
on November 29, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
I have been impressed and wowed by this elegant electric scooter. As other major review websites have noted, this scooter is to other scooters what a Tesla is to other cars or Apple products to other consumer electronics. It is built with refinement and looks that stand out and that draw praise and compliments. It is lightweight and easy to use, and it has fitted into a part of my weekly commutes that I will further detail in this review. However, dollar for dollar, this is not the most powerful or longest-range scooter for the price, nor does it offer a comfortable ride in comparison to other e-scooters with suspension setups and pneumatic tires. With these disclosures, I will start jumping around with what I love and don’t love with this scooter.
Assembly from the package is easy. It comes with easy-to-follow instructions with both a QR code for helpful videos and a full booklet. The scooter deck and stalk come assembled with the handlebar as a separate piece which must be attached to the stalk via a cable and 4 small screws with an included hex head screwdriver. Two extra screws are included in case of mishaps, and they all have pre-applied blue Loctite to avoid the screws backing out with vibrations. With that minor assembly accomplished, it was just a matter of peeling some protective plastic off and turning on the scooter the first time.
The scooter came with about a half charge per the easy-to-read display on the handlebar. I knew that the instructions called for me to fully charge the scooter, but I just couldn’t wait to take it outside and try it! Helmet donned, scooter turned on, I started it out on its level 3 advanced mode because I like to live dangerously, haha. The scooter I noticed immediately felt quite peppy. I weigh 200 pounds, close to the max weight of 220 pounds for this scooter, so I was surprised it took off so nicely. This model has a single 350W motor to the rear wheel, so I was quite pleased with the acceleration and it’s maintaining its top speed of 15mph even up somewhat steep roads in my neighborhood. This scooter is by no means the model you would want if you lived in a city like San Francisco as it does quickly become anemic in its power limits up hills. I would look into the E500 that has dual 250W motors for better hill climbing. For flat suburban or well-maintained urban regions, this E350 suits the bill nicely. My initial ride completed, I took it home and fully charged it, and I have since put on about 30 miles on the odometer of the scooter. Here is a summary of my experience with the scooter so far:
The 15-mile advertised max operating range does not apply to you if you are towards the heavier end of the weight limit as I am and like to use the top speed and advanced drive mode level 3. Realistically, I am getting closer to 8-10 miles of range out of the scooter with some slight voltage sag the last two miles, dropping my top speed to 7-9 mph or so. I did run it completely dead for a test, which is indicated by a red final bar on the battery indicator of the display and some beeps are sounded from the scooter to let you know it is almost dead. I then kicked it home another hundred yards or so manually and found that to be tiresome, but doable. There are definitely faster and longer-range scooters out there with heavier weight limits, Unagi offerings being among them such as the Model One, E500, or new and highly anticipated Model 11, so look into those if you have longer commutes and fall into a heavier weight class than a middleweight. My feelings aren’t too hurt by this operating range I am getting as I know that this scooter was almost definitely tested with lighter weight riders to produce the advertised figures.
This scooter is virtually silent as it cruises down the road. There is no whine of an electric motor or anything. It sounds as sleek as it looks. I also found that I really like the electric brake. It is incredibly consistent and even going full speed it slows the scooter down safely and non-jerkily. The rear wheel manual friction brake is not spectacular as it has no grooves or tackiness to the inside surface to help slow you down more efficiently. It also does not activate the blinking of the rear red light when you use the manual brake, so I have gotten used to knowing it is there only in case I need to use it in combination with the electric brakes for emergency stops.
The ride on these airless, vented tires is consistent, albeit rough. I never have to worry about a flat tire, but these tires which are supposed to have a shock absorber effect with their air channels, are small and make sure to inform you of every bump, groove, crack, and inconsistency on the pavement. Anyone with knee, foot, joint, or back problems should avoid this scooter for long commutes as it yields a fatiguing, bumpy ride as you zoom along the miles. Having a good, bent knee, proper stance on this scooter is crucial as there is little to provide you relief in the way of impacts. I also will be watching the wear of these tires closely, as some longer-time reviewers of other Unagi scooters have noted some rapid-wear of the tires if you put higher mileage on them.
The scooter itself is built in an elegant fashion, but there are some tweaks I would make. Wider handlebars would be better, even just an inch on each side, to ensure a wider upper body frame for maintaining balance with greater ease. I would also love to see the charging method be changed to a USB-C power delivery setup, so that one could have a single USB-C PD charging device and wall adapter on the go that could handle charging the scooter and other devices like laptops etc. I would love for the “horn” which is just a high-pitched beep, to be a bit louder and attention grabbing. Any further suggestions I would make have all been addressed in the latest Model 11 that Unagi is developing that includes full suspension, easily swappable battery, etc.
In summary, this scooter is an amazing micro-electric transportation device, but it is not for the long commuter or for overly rough regions like downtown NYC where potholes and construction would be a constant threat to unfoot you from this small scooter. This scooter proves that electric scooters do not have to be ugly, obnoxious, or cumbersome in order to yield reasonable transportation for light commutes. I have LOVED this scooter for my commute into and around my small suburban town. The headlight is nice and bright and works perfect for getting home after dark with these PNW early sunsets. The bright taillight is great and grabs attention with the blinking when you brake with the electric brake and otherwise being on all the time. Going and doing my errands like picking up small groceries, going to my gym, and even commuting to my work on nice days is all attainable with this awesome lightweight, compliment-garnering scooter. Just be aware of the limitations I have outlined above and make an informed decision about the purchase of this scooter! Thanks for reading and good luck with your purchase decision!

Good looks but lacking in audio quality
on November 26, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
These are some of the better-looking smart eyeglass frames I have yet encountered. I currently also own the Razer Anzu frames, and they are what I am primarily drawing a comparison with as I know that along with Bose frames, those will show up in consumers' search parameters if they are looking for smart eyeglass frames.
These Echo frames are very refined and have good build quality. I appreciate the squared off look of the earpieces as they do not have excessive bulging on the sides that would attract an observer’s eye as ugly. These are one of the only smart frames I have tried that could easily pass as just regular eyeglass frames. The setup of these was also extremely easy. I am already an Amazon Alexa device user with lots of Echo Dots in my house as well as some Alexa tethered devices like my Roomba, so setup of these frames was super easy. I appreciate how easily these integrated into my Amazon Alexa ecosystem. The included storage case is extremely high quality and the packaging in general of the glasses was up to Apple quality in presentation and ease of opening. The build quality of the glasses is great and far outstrip my Razer Anzu glasses. There is even adjustability in the ear hooks available if needed. There is a little too much high gloss black plastic overall though; I would have preferred to see a bit more aluminum or other lightweight alloys to have a truly outstanding appearance.
The glaring downfall with these glasses is the poor audio quality. For anything other than conversational podcasts or phone calls, the audio on these is extremely poor. There is virtually no bass at all, not even a fractional attempt at it, and the highs and mids are tinny sounding and distorted at above half volume. I put as much time as I could into the Alexa app looking for EQ controls to try to attain some blend of audio that I could stand, but no such controls existed. I say this all with the disclaimer that I am admittedly an audiophilic snob and I have high expectations of higher dollar headphones and other audio devices when it comes to the quality of my music. These just don’t do it for me. During phone calls, I felt that the audio was clipped and sometimes distorted as the person on the other end of the call was talking. The microphone, however, is better than my other smart frames I have tried. My wife reported that while the mic sounded closer to a speakerphone on the Echo glasses, they don’t have an echo (no pun intended) and sound clear. So, if one cares less about the audio experience on their end than a call recipient’s end, these are okay.
If you are a huge Amazon product fan or truly enjoy using Alexa as a dedicated virtual assistant in your work or productivity flow day to day, then these glasses are a good choice. Just know that you are not purchasing these for a great listening experience as these are lacking in that area in my opinion. Overall, I give these four stars with one removed for the poor audio experience. If these were just headphones or earphones, I would give it 2 stars, but these glasses are intended for more than just music and accordingly succeed in the other areas they were designed, like the use of Alexa and alerting you of push notifications on your phone. Thanks for reading and I hope this helps guide your purchasing decision.

Great investment for a high-print volume household
on November 4, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
If you are in a household or home office that has a lot of printing needs (in my example, multiple highschoolers) then you are looking at the right printer.
Let’s face it, ink cartridge printers are expensive to refill and are harmful to the environment. They create a ton of waste, and they feel like a dog chasing their tail with always having to replace one cartridge or another. This Smart Tank printer is so much more our style. The bottles of ink, work for THOUSANDS of pages, and at less than $20 each to my research, they come out as far far cheaper than OEM cartridges of similar print capacity. HP claims 8000 black pages and 6000 color pages with the first included ink bottles and I believe that. We have printed a few hundred pages already and it seems like we have barely made a dent in the easy to see ink supply meters.
Usefully, this has multiple sources of connection including airprint from our Apple devices, which is ultra-handy. The flatbed scanner is useful for scanning in individual documents and cards. If you are wanting an automatic document feeder (ADF), the 7301 version of this printer has that. We don’t do a ton of scanning, so the flatbed scanner is good enough for our needs.
Altogether, while the price of entry is high, the price of continued use is low and this print should last for years and years to come. I think that this printer should be at the top of the list for people looking for a printer to meet household or home office high volume printing needs. Thanks for reading and hope this helps guide your purchasing decision!

An outstanding portable scanner, can scan cards!
on November 4, 2021
Posted by: Bren
from Central Point, OR
I am extremely pleased with this portable scanner! Portable scanners have come along way over the years, and this is an example of one that is worth its price. For one, it yields incredibly crisp and high DPI images that really gather in the detail off pages, from both sides! Yes, this is a double-sided scanner, which is better than my 1-1/2 year old all in one printer can do with its ADF.
For reference, I put the scanner next to my 2015 13” Apple MBP, and as you can see it has a very compact footprint that takes up next to no space, which makes it truly portable. It also has quite a bit more heft and robust structure to it than expected from initial looks, which makes me trust that much more that it can act as a portable scanner. I find it irritating reading reviews where people are expecting this scanner and others like it to perform like primary workstation scanners, when that is really not its designed use case. What I do find extremely impressive about this portable scanner is that they built in a card scanner that ACTUALLY WORKS. It scanned BOTH SIDES of my driver’s license in one go, and holy cow is that handy! I have had some janky experiences with even full-sized scanners in the past. The dedicated card slot senses the card automatically, and when you are in the Imageformula software it will automatically scan it and then you can save it into a folder with ease. I have my OneDrive folder setup on the Imageformula software so that I can simply scan and name each document and then it is automatically in the cloud!
Overall, I am highly impressed with this portable scanner. It is ridiculously good and is worth its price. My only slight adjustment I would recommend to it in the future is the inclusion of an additional micro-USB to USB-C cable as that is the direction many devices are going and this included micro-USB to USB-A cable is not going to work for some computers, including the newer Macbooks without a dongle adapter. I also want to note that when I plugged it in the first time, I did have to follow prompts and go through a firmware update that took me to Canon’s website to download it and get it installed. It took about 10 minutes, but it was worth it to get this great portable scanner up and going!
Thanks for reading and I hope this helps your purchasing decision.

Flexible and expandable security camera setup!
on November 4, 2021

I am highly impressed with these cameras. The fact that everything is connecting up via wifi is well appreciated as someone who has long been of the “hard wired” mindset. I found the install to be relatively straight forward. I had to be strategic about placement as these do require an AC plug in for power and I had to run a couple of extension cords for the install. Nothing too bad though and I am certain I can clean up the setup later.
The 4K video from these cameras is highly crisp and the lens seems to gather light well in the daylight and twilight hours. I noticed that at nighttime, the shutter speed does seem to slow down as the infrared turns on and this leads to some images of passersby ghosting or stuttering. I have noticed the same several second delay on motion detection that other reviewers have pointed out, but nothing that is extraordinary in the space of wifi connected cameras.
I really appreciate the included 1TB NVR, that can hold at least a week or two of recording footage with ease and the fact that I can access it over the app instead of my TV like my old hard wire setup is excellent.
Altogether, for ease of expandability and ease of install, I would highly recommend this Night Owl setup!

The best kitchen appliance we own!

In a world of chaos, where cooking home cooked meals after long shifts seems like an impossibility, this amazing air fryer has come into our lives to help us cook delicious air-fried meals not only delicious but incredibly convenient!
It is amazing being able to conveniently and easily use both baskets separately, together, or one at a time. Many of our meals include air fried vegetables and it was always inconvenient with our old air fryer to have to go one at a time on each batch of vegetables. Now we can start two separate foods in the different air fryers at different times and temperatures as needed, which is awesome!
One reason why I love this air fryer so much is that unlike many of its counterparts, both the crisper plates and the baskets are approved by Ninja to be washable in a dish washer! They do have an asterisk on the baskets that this can shorter their lifespan, but when talking about convenience it is incredibly nice to be able to just stick these in the dishwasher when done cooking. The truth is that many air fryer baskets get burnt out prematurely by old grease and food particles getting burnt and baked onto the bottom of the baskets which overtime will greatly reduce their efficiency. So, it stands as important to make sure you wash your crisper plates and air fryer baskets.
A couple of features I would like to see added to future iterations of this product are auto-pause on the respective heating element if a basket is pulled out, and an auto-start or delay timer on the individual baskets so you could have them set to automatically start at a given time. Also, this is not so much of a downside but just wanting people to be aware to double check the dimensions of this air fryer against their counter-space. We put our air fryer in the pantry as it does take a lot of space up lengthwise. Surprisingly, this is no wider than our previous 4-quart single basket air fryer. Otherwise, I have minimal to no complaints at all about this Foodi air fryer! Thanks for reading and hope this helps guide your purchase!

Quality blender, at a high price
on October 7, 2021

TLDR: It cannot be argued that this is a great blender. In my experience with it, it holds up to the Vitamix name in its build quality and ability to produce excellent, silky-smooth smoothies. However, it also cannot be argued that you are paying for a brand name blender here and that it lacks some of the features and conveniences that blenders a hundred dollars less offer. Is it worth it? That will be up to you.
Opening this blender felt like opening up an Apple product. It was thoughtfully packaged and its minimalist appearance along with high quality materials are sure to stun. I have no doubt that this blender will last for years to come. It has a 1.2hp motor which is adequate for most of my blending needs, including chopping up as for smoothies. Without a pulse function, though, it feels like a finicky process to get the wheel selector of this blender to do its job at times.
Overall, I am satisfied with this blender and as a fan of the full sized Vitamix, I can see how this is a great addition or substitution in the use case of someone who wants a quality blender but doesn’t need all the bells and whistles. Thank for reading and hope this helps guide your purchasing decision.

The Apex 5 gaming keyboard has hybrid mechanical switches that combine the smoothness of a membrane switch with the added durability, performance, and satisfying tactile click of a blue mechanical switch. It also has per-key RGB customization, OLED Smart Display, aluminum alloy frame, premium magnetic wrist rest, and more.

Can the key caps be switched out with other key caps

Yes! They are compatible with most Cherry MX keycaps! From Steelseries' Blog post on the hybrid mechanical switches, "Like a blue switch, it registers a keypress with a click at 2mm, bottoms out at 4mm, and requires 50cn of force to press. Because it is a mechanical switch, you can even put aftermarket keycaps on them"

With its Bluetooth interface, this Logitech MX Anywhere 2 910-004373 wireless mouse enables you to pair with up to 3 Bluetooth Smart Ready devices simultaneously. Darkfield Laser Tracking technology allows operation on most surfaces, including glass.

Does this product work for gaming?

Extremely well, depending on your needs. I use it for battlefield 1 and Doom and I love it. The programable buttons work awesome. For RPGs you may want a mouse that has more programable buttons, depending on your style :) If that is the case, I recommend the one's below:

Only at Best BuyPlay your way to the top with this HP OMEN notebook. The Intel Core i7 processor provides lightning-fast response times, and the 1TB hard drive is enough for all your favorite games and apps with room to spare for music and video files. This HP OMEN notebook has a full-size backlit keyboard for fast, easy typing.

How long does the battery last and can the ram be upgrade

Battery has averaged 2.5 to 3 hours under normal use and 1 hour or so with gaming (as should be expected in any gaming laptop, really). The RAM can be upgraded given you are patient and careful when you unscrew and pry open the back. 8GB of 2133Mhz RAM is what it has stock in one of the two available slots.

Yes, they will be. By default to allow quick bootup and accessing times. You can select the 1TB "D" drive though when you are downloading. I keep all of my games on the 1TB drive and it has worked perfectly.
