Battery does not last

The battery here does not last long at all.. This is the 3rd battery that I've had for my unit and unlike the 5 Star lady below, it's not worth buying a new battery every year. This issue needs to be resolved with the battery or with the charger. Regardless, the battery life sucks.
Pros: Easy To Clean, Ergonomic, Good Power Output, Lightweight
Cons: Weak Function

I bought a Roomba several years ago and initially was very happy with it. We have two cats and all wood floors so I thought it was perfect for our application. I didn't particularly like having to clean the Roomba after every use, but I made a little work bench with everything I needed to make it easier. I agree with all the users who say the battery is the huge negative. I kept mine charged. Did everything, probably more, that I was supposed to do and my battery lasted about a year. I put it away and haven't used it since. On a whim I thought I would buy a new battery and try it again. I'm glad I read the comments. I'll have to think about it a little more. BTW Irobot customer service is really poor and the fact that they have no service centers is the reason I put it away in the first place.

I use it once a week for the master bedroom. I had it for 3 years and I am on my third battery. If the battery would be longer lasting and less expensive or both it would be a great product.

What Happened?

I received my Romba as a Christmas present and was very excited to see it fly across my hardwood floors and get under all those hard to reach areas. But to my surprise, my excitement subsided quickly when the battery charge lasted a couple of minutes and I had to return to my old cleaning habits. When I inquired about a replacement battery I was "stunned" at the price and have not used my Romba since. What a waste! There must be a way to create a more efficient battery in this day and age. I would love to have it back but it isn't worth the investment. I could hire a cleaning service for the price of a battery that doesn't last. If you come up with a solution, please let me know because I really enjoyed using it.

I am now on my 4th Battery for my Roomba 400 series. It was fine until the dog moved it slightly off the docking station charger enough to where the pins were not connecting. 3 unnoticed days of not being on the charger destroyed the battery. Extremely bad engineering flaw. Power usage and behavior is essential to good engineering design. This is iRobot's "achillies heel" and they stubbornly refuse to address it.
Cons: Poor Battery Performance

Does not last as long as it should

The battery works well for about a year, but then dies. I have gone through three batteries in as many years. This is using it on a weekly basis on less than 400 sq ft. A battery like this should last much longer.
Pros: Works well for short time
Cons: Dies within a year

Good Quality, but Too Expensive

I purchased my 400 series on sale for [$] or so. The battery that came with it lasted a good long time, but finally failed. The cost of this replacement battery is exorbitant. It's like buying a car, then having to buy a new engine every couple years. Add to that the fact that ever since I got a dog, the Roomba chokes easily on the shed hair. Every time I use it I have to take it apart and de-tangle the brushes (not every three uses as the user guide suggests). With the high battery cost and the time it takes me to clean the unit it's self, I'm going to look at other options. The Roomba is a great concept, but with the same amount of money I spend for a few years use of it, I can buy a vacuum for upstairs and another for down. Not as nice as a Roomba, but pretty convenient if I don't have to lug a full size vacuum up and down stairs.

I received this Romba form my deceased spouse and after a little over a year my battery died!!!! The price of a replacement battery is crazy, with all the money my husband spent on this item and him being deceased now I't has sentimential memories, but he would agree for me get rid of it! i now have a Dyson that works fine with descent customer staffing....

Cons: Charges slowly, Lacks Power, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
