roomba is great battery is horrible

I had purchased the unit to 'sweep' the kitchen and bathroom floors for me since my upright vacuum left marks from its rubber belts. It did a great job until about a year after i had it and it died. Recharge looked fine but as soon as I started the unit it died on me. I have not used it in a few years now. The unit itself is wonderful. Someone did a great job in design and tech on it. but the battery is a waste. To replace the battery is expensive and i don't think that i want to invest that much in it and have it die in a year or less again. A real pity. I have so many ppl who visit me and see the unit in my closet and ask about it and i have to explain that it is great as long as the battery works and otherwise it is just extra clutter around the house.
Pros: Does a nice job, Great unit
Cons: Battery doesn't last, Battery EXPENSIVE, Not used in 2 years, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life

I hate to say the same things, but the battery life is terrible. I also had a great initial experience with the original battery, but the replacement did not last 6 months. Why this company did make consumer replaceable batteries I don't know.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life

I would never buy another iRobot product again. My first battery started to go in 90 days. [*] For the price, they should offer lithium. This battery is a waste of money a environmental nuisance as they wear out very quickly

iRobot is a great product except the Battery is a failure. I keep the contacts clean. I follow the instructions for charging. I keep the Robot maintained and cleaned every week. The Battery should be recalled by the Federal Government as it is of poor quality. The first battery worked for about 1 year. The Second worked from 7/26/211 to 6/07/2012. That is less than 1 year. I will now look for another company.

So Sad, too bad

Our original Roomba died and was replaced. Then I bought TWO more Roombas, ONE Scooba and also ONE Dirt Dog. Batteries are DEAD in all FOUR in addition, TWO chargers burned up. Burned up as in melted. Whomever makes the chargers and batteries should be FIRED. As tempting as it is to put these units back into service, I will not pay any more of my hard earned money for this junk.
