Battery problem just like everyone else

I can't believe GOOFY of Florida...Does she work for the company? The Roomba is a great product but why they have not addressed the issue with the battery is beyond belief. I used my Roomba nearly every day...After 45 minutes. POOF! It was dead. When the battery finally kicked after only one year, I boxed it up meaning to trade it in for a newer/better model. I then moved to Europe and my Roomba was in storage. Now that I am back after six years, my Roomba still does not have a battery and I will NOT pay [$] for a new one when I already spent $230 for the Roomba in the first place...for only one year's use? Heck, I paid only $98 for my upright Hoover fifteen years ago and I STILL USE IT! IRobot, get your act together or go out of business. You've got a good idea but you are NOT customer service oriented. You're obviously not listening! Are you still in business?
Pros: Cleans well, Entertaining to watch, I bought it for my dog, I miss my ROOMBA, Love the performance, My dog is not amused, No effort requred, Who needs exercise
Cons: 45 minutes then DEAD, Battery life sucks, Can't afford new battery, Why not fix the problem
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Verified Purchase:No
After reading comments here I looked for a better solution. There is one which gets good reviews from purchasers (which I ordered) but can't provide a link here without violating posting policy. Use Google with "roomba battery replacement" and take the second or 6th link. I need replacement batteries so I can keep using my Roomba(s) and not have to go to a competitor. I like Roobma vacuums and own 4 (have owned 8 of these "expensive units", 4 others are in the scrap heap) The problem isn't the battery, it's iRobot hasn't spent enough development time on the battery charging/maintenance system, and the Roomba product burns out good batteries in about a year. iRobot could remedy this if they'd spend the engineering development time to fix their battery charging/maintenance design.
Cons: Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Replacement batteries a waste of money

Have purchased 2 of these expensive replacement batteries, which is equal to half the cost of a new Roomba. One never took a charge, no matter what I did. The other charged enough to back Roomba off the charger, turn around and quit. The only help I got was told to clean the contacts, which I had already said I had done. Absolutely love the Roomba when it's new. When the first battery dies, might as well throw out the old Roomba along with the battery. The replacement batteries seem to be a waste of money.
Pros: NONE
Cons: Never took a charge, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

needs frequent battery replacement

I use my Roomba for general home vacuuming. I was enamored with the magic robot that vacuumed my house for me until the battery staying power resulted in needing a third battery within 18 months. The cost of battery replacement makes this a luxury I'll pass on in the future.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Advanced Power System-not so much!

This was a great vacuum when it was new, and the original battery worked great. I replaced the battery after 1 year, and the new battery didn't make 6 months. I can't justify spending this kind of money for batteries with such a short life span. I am throwing the vacuum in the trash, and would not recommend this product to anyone.
Cons: Inconsistent Performance, Lacks Power, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Roomba accessories are too expensive

Used to vacuum carpet, and I don't appreciate the cost of replacing the battery when the Roomba itself costs so much to begin with. The performance is not up to par with the cost.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

A gift that keeps on costing.

I loved my iRobot at first. After my fourth battery in about a year died, I packed it away until iRobot corrects this flaw. Either cut the price or improve the quality of the product. I love my iRobot but it has become a luxury that I can no longer justify. My home vacuum works just fine.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
