Big Disappointment

When I initially got my Roomba I was thrilled. The battery lasted a reasonable length of time, and it efficiently picked up stuff on the carpet and vinyl floors. Each new battery has lasted shorter and shorter times. I attributed this to having bought two from a different source, so I came back to IRobot to purchase this most recent one. It has been the worst yet, and unacceptably expensive. Sorry I recommended the Roomba to a friend, and sorry I can't justify the expense of replacing the battery (and other accessories).

Battery died in less than 6 months

This is my second battery for the roomba. Both died within 6 months. I paid $250 for the vacuum and between $60 - $80 for each of the batteries [...]Each battery died within 6 months. Don't buy it.
Cons: Inconsistent Performance, Poor quality, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life

Roomba Discovery GOOD, Battery BAD

worked good for 4 months. Programmed and let clean. furniture high & it could clean under them. Shocked how long the battery lasted and cost for a replacement. Have decided since seeing the battery reviews that I'm going to let mu son use it for a 9th grade science project. Fit it with a solar panel on top and use it to clean the sunroom. Battery OK for that but won't hold a charge more than 4 minutes. That or the yardsale!
Pros: Can clean under furniture, Cleaned great, Easy To Clean, Ergonomic, Lightweight
Cons: Battery dead in 4 months, Battery too expensive, School project only value, Sons solar-vacuum, Will try to gerry-rig it

I told all of my friend how wonderful it was and then the battery died and its too expensive to replace.. Sorry I wish I could recommend this, its a wonderful concept.
Pros: Easy To Clean, Ergonomic, Good Power Output, Lightweight

Poor (or NIL) battery life

Replacement battery does not last. My first battery lasted a year; the second lasted 2 cleaning cycles. I thought it was a faulty battery until I read all the reviews; apparently I'm not the only one with the experience. What a pity the company does not focus more on keeping their existing customers happy.

I purchased this product sometime ago and was disappointed with it from the start. Many times the vacuum would not pick up. As others have said, and I totally agree, the battery life is very short and very expensive to replace. Overall, I am disappointed in the product and would not purchase another Roomba nor would I recommend it to my family and friends.

Works well on tile floors and covered patio. Wish the battery would preform for a longer period of time, as I do not have a deep pocketbook!!!

Insufficient battery life

Using a dirt devil in my workshop. The dirt devil does a great job, its batteries are the problem. Way too expensive, considering their short life cycle. I cannot affort to replace a battery every 6- 9 months at [$] a pop. I have many portable tools with NiCad batterys that see heavy use, yet will last 18-36 months or more. I guess I'll have to reluctantly give up on using the dirt devil, it's too expensive to maintain.
