Good while they lasted

I have two (2) Roombas and a Scooba that sit idly in their boxes because their batteries (yes, ALL of them) are deceased. When you pay as much as we do for a vacuum (we could have bought a Dyson!) you would expect it to last longer. Roombas and Scoobas are innovative yet like almost every product out there ... they have their weak link, in this case the battery. Irobot poweres their robots using old (sometimes ancient) battery techology that limits the life of the product. When the battery dies in 1-2 years what good is the vacuum without it? Who, after spending hundreds on what is now a doorstop wants to pay $70 for a battery that will (again) fail and make their robot inoperable? There has got to be a better way ...
Cons: Inconsistent Performance, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Dead Expensive Battery

At first I loved my roomba and raved to everyone about it. Then the battery acted up, I called for assistance and it worked for a short time. When the battery died I was going to buy a new one, but the price was so costly and I just couldn't afford to keep feeding my roomba new batteries. It now sits on the shelf while I keep hoping the price of the battery is reduced. With so many complaints, why hasn't the company tried to solve this problem for so many dissatisfied customers that would like to see theirs roombas work again.
Pros: Good Idea Bad Battery
Cons: Expensive To Maintain, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The Weakest Link

We will probably bury our Roomba, because the battery cost is too high and it just doesn't last long enough to justify the cost.. Why a company would not fix such an obvious flaw is beyond me! Sadly, I can not recommend the battery, so as a result would not be able to recommend the Roomba, which was great, while it was working.
Cons: Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

love the vac, i set it running, and i have time to clean other things hate the battery--they don't last long, they are too expensive to replace, the other replacement parts are also high--not so sure it isn't worth buying a whole new one each time you need one?
Pros: Does a good job, Like the vac

Very disappointing.

Because of this battery design, I will never buy another Roomba again. I've gone through two expensive batteries, each lasting less than nine months. The roomba has been a dead 'bot for over a year and is now in a garage sale box in the basement. What's even more frustrating is that I actually bought another one as a gift, which also failed similarly and has also proven to be very frustrating for the owner. I'm constantly bombarded with targeted online advertising, which is what directed me here to vent my disappointment. Instead of the barrage of online banners, It would be nice if this company would make an effort to reach out to the large group of vocal, disappointed customers who bought this expensive defective product. You have my info, and I've called your customer service center about this. So why not attempt to fix the goodwill that you've lost?
Cons: Inconsistent Performance, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life

I have recommended the Roomba before I was awhere how expensive the battery was and how often it needs to be replaced. Does a very good job keeping the home looking fresh, and allows me to do other things at the same time. With this economy my Roomba has been sitting waiting for a battery for months.
Pros: Keeps home fresh looking
Cons: Battery expensive often
I would recommend this to a friend!

it's fun to watch, but....

It cleans great, is convenient to use, and fun to watch if you don't have anything else to do. BUT, I am now deciding if I should order my 3rd battery for the 4210 in less than 2 years, and 2nd battery for dirt dog in less than 6 months. The battery life is not very good, and they are awfully expensive to replace for retirees on a fixed income. We may have to go back to the vacuum just for economic reasons. Is there any battery improvement in the pipeline?
Pros: Cleaning results, Convenience, Design
Cons: Battery life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Battery does not last long enough:(

My Roomba would be convenient if the battery lasted any length of time. Completely dies within a year and at $70. to replace, is not worth it. Totally a waste of money. Roomba company, you have way to many people that have ask for a better long lasting battery. If you can't supply that, I assume you don't care for returning customers.
Cons: Charges slowly, Lacks Power, Pricey / Poor Value, Short Life
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
