It is a great product, and I would recommend these in a heartbeat if iRobot addresses two issues. The batteries just cost too much! And they don't last anywhere near long enough! Everyone would use/have these if the batteries lasted twice as long and cost half as much! [$] for a battery is insane!!! $29.00 would be much more reasonable IF they lasted twice as long! Please address this issue iRobot!

I came to look for a replacement battery and I found all these bad reviews. At first I thought is just an issue for the 400 serie, but than I found the same bad reviews at 500 serie. Same as other people here, I like Roomba very much. But without a good battery... I just wonder if anyone at iRobot care about all these. I do not see any comments from them. How comes the original battery last so long and for replacement they sell junks? Somebody should put a lawsuit against iRobot. I'm very disapointed! I decided not to buy and to look for similar product somwhere else.

This battery is possibly the worst NiMH battery in any consumer product on the market! Life expectancy is less than 90 days! Terrible considering my 9 year old laptop is still chugging along on the same battery as is my 3 year old cellphone. I also use almost the exact same cell configuration in my RC helicopter and again, life of the battery is years, not months! My Roomba has spent 3 out of the last 4 years in the closet because of the cost of replacing batteries. The deep discharge some suggest is not a good idea for this type of battery as it can result in a warping of the internal structures in the individual cells which can increase the risk of fire and explosion! When there is this much trouble, it is obviuosly a design flaw and from what I have seen, its probably the terrible quality of the charger. iRobot needs to look at their manufacturing quality NOW because most of their new products use the same sub-standard accessories and I am already seeing bad signs in my 700 series. I wish I had bought the Samsung!

Charged battery fully then when I tried to use it only lasted about a minute. Multiple charges and it finnaly lasted about 2 seconds. This is a major rip-off!!

My battery died too soon. I am a casual user and killed the battery by keeping it charging for too long between uses. No warning information was given about this scenario.

Batteries are nothing but headaches

The battery is the single biggest problem with these units ( I have two irobots and 3 batteries).I was using each of them weekly, One upstairs, one down.The batteries fade quickly. They consistently deliver shorter and shorter run-times with each use. They take longer to charge with each use.They cost about [$] which is 20-25% of the overall cost of the unit.I really hoped the technology was finally here but I am guessing it will will be another 10 to 20 years before the battery or some type of GOOD floor cleaning system is created, Sadly this is not it.I will not be buying any more batteries or cleaning robots here.

The battery that came with my roomba was pretty much dead, so I bought this one on 7/1/2010 for [$]. It's now 11/6/2011 and the battery is COMPLETELY dead. I've reset the roomba a few times. I've let it sit plugged in for hours until the light turns green. I unplug it, hit the clean button, and in under a minute, I get the "I'm out of batteries" sound. I realize that batteries will lose power over time, but this seems unreasonable. A dead battery makes an otherwise perfectly functioning roomba totally useless. Should I buy a new battery every year, or should I just buy a non-robotic vacuum?

Short Life of Costly Battery

Orignal battery lasted almost four years. Replacement battery from IRobot didn't last a year. Funny, they seemed identical. You can buy a better battery for a lot less if you look online.
Pros: Good Power Output
Cons: Short Life
