[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We had to replace a 13 year old GE microwave and wanted stay with GE. The features are great, we use the reheat a lot and it does a great job. Love the feature that the turntable can be turned off for the larger containers. It's quieter than the one we replaced and it was easy to install!

This is a good basic over the range microwave.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The previous GE microwave lasted six years and decided to replace it with a similar model. It seems that JVM1640 was replaced by the JVM1740. This required a new mounting bracket since this model is slightly higher than the previous model. Also, the mounting bolts were in slightly different positions. The installation was simple enough. I did not pay the extra for installation.
The micro wave is quetier and seems to heat quicker that the previous model. The exhaust fan is louder and is rarely used. The operational buttons are larger and easier to use.
The prior model model was white, but we went with stainless with the new model. The design is better looking that the previous model. Hoping to get more than six years of operation this time.

This product could use better features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Owned an older model and the features on it were more in line with my daily uses. The display is bright, no way to dim it, but very small. The control pad is large and easy to read.
This unit came with an interior rack that is seldom used and seems as though it was an afterthought addition to stay with the competition.
The cooking instructions should include the size and quantities used to derive at the cooking times. We have found almost everything needs additional time except popcorn. One feature that is annoying is the reminder to rotate the food in the defrost mode. With the turntable we have found that the need to rotate the food is not needed. But in order to clear the display you are required to open the door otherwise the display remains as a reminder to rotate the food.
The unit is real pricy as are most of the other brands. Price value is lacking.
