Good Choice

We wanted to convert one of the upstairs bathrooms into a laundry room. Although there was enough room for a full sized washer and dryer combo, we chose this model for its ventless feature as well as the 120V power (no separate 220V circuit needed) and ecoefficiency. I love it. It is exactly what I was looking for - quiet, efficient, gets the clothes clean, and is a joy to use. I actually noticed a lower utility bill right away. I will add however that we still use the old clunker washer and separate dryer in the basement for the dog beds, rugs, anything with a lot of hair or dirt, or anything we need done quickly. This is not a super workhorse machine and I agree with others who say it might not be right for a large family. We did have an issue early on with clogging after washing a load of cashmere and wool - it would not drain but there was nothing to clean out of the filter. The LG consumer line was fantastic - I received a followup call from an LG person who told me he was assigned to stay with my case until the problem was resolved. Apparently lint/wool/etc had twisted itself into a knot and wrapped around the pump impeller before it reached the filter. Ultimately the service person did not need to come out - I was able to easily fix it myself with a flashlight and a pair of tweezers after he told me what to do.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use, ecoefficiency, installation flexibility

Brilliant concept

The concept is brilliant being able to wash and dry in one machine without venting.
My problems come when I have to remove items so adequate drying can take place.
The machine can properly dry only one set of sheets or towels...any more and I have to remove some and hang them to dry.
Also, lint builds up on the rubber gasket around the door and, although I clean it after each use, lint gets in crevaces making it difficult to clean.

Best Washer/Dryer combo!

We live in a condo where we have to have a ventless washer/dryer. Our first experience with one of these was less than satisfactory and I was so glad when it broke and we decided it was time to replace it. My husband actually did the research and found this wonderful replacement with the LG washer/dryer combo. I love everything about it. It cleans beautifully, dries the clothes well, doesn't leave any kind of awful yellow residue like the old machine, and I love the signals and sounds this machine makes. It's like music!! All in all, it's the best solution! Thanks LG!!

A little learning curve to get great results!

Bought this w/d combo for our 2nd level, where most of the laundry originates (not 2 floors below in the 'laundry' room!). Converted part of a hall closet next to a bath. Easy to run water, drain, 110 without drastic remodeling. A little concerned, plumber and electrician hadn't heard or seen this w/d. We've had it about 4 months and had a little trouble at first with clothes not getting dry enough. Adjusted clothing loads, sometimes dried on 'more' and it's perfect! Can hardly wait to do laundry (can't believe I said that)! Clothes feel damp when they come out, but 2 or 3 shakes and they're dry. Less wrinkles, less shrinkage. I will definitely put this LG in our next home!

In Love with Laundry. . .
on April 8, 2012

Once upon a time as a newlywed, oh the joys of washing your new husband's clothes, how happy to do this simple task for him.... hanging those clothes on the line, ironing... just bliss... 2 kids later, w/d in basement, dragging loads up and down stairs, too tired to put a load in the dryer, oh.. that musty smell you could never get out.... kids now grown.. spouse doing his own laundry in that basement... not me! My LG w/d is in my bedroom closet... replaced the relic washer and dryer... Have been doing a load every single day just for the joy of it! I search for things to wash! I usually take the clothes out damp and hang up inside or out to the clothesline. . . which I hadn't done in 35 years! Yes, the amount of time for total washing and drying is longer than I am accustomed to,but clothes DO come out softer, as if they are being massaged in the machine instead of beat up! I must say I too am guilty of putting the light on and watching the wash go around. The cats like it too! There is some vibration with heavy loads like hoodies, and comforters, but so what! It means that water is getting whipped out! Enjoy your laundry again like me... !!
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality, entertainment!

Resolves so many problems
on July 20, 2012

I live in a historic district, where it is nearly impossible to alter the outside--such as installing an outside vent. My interior space is limited, so I've had to buy smaller appliances. This machine solves many problems, such as venting and lack of space. I now can install an extra shelve in the area previously occupied by the stackable dryer. With any new technology, one is always concerned about durability. My family had a somewhat similar mechanical machine in the 1960s, but it constantly broke down and was replaced twice. I'm hoping that the new electronics and design have resolved these issues. Having read the reviews, I'm religious about cleaning the rubber gasket and lint basket. While this does take extra time, I'm hoping that it will allow me to run the machine problem-free. I'm also hoping the water/electrical usage is frugal as advertised. I have had the machine for over a month. So far, I'm very impressed.

Major mistake buying this machine

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought mine 3-27-2012. The drain pump was replaced 3 times, drain hoses, noise filter...It is just 8 months since the last repair job. I think the LG company owes me because of this defective product. I would gladly trade in for regular washer dryer.
Pros: Style/Design
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
