A refreshing change!

Before purchasing my washer/dryer combo, I did a TON of research. I read every review available for this and other (both cheaper and more expensive) models. I am pleased to say that I haven't had any of the issues that the negative reviews mentioned. Here is what I do to prevent problems (keep in mind that I wash for 2 people, but use the unit almost daily due to having only 3 work uniforms):
Wipe down the rubber seal and door weekly (I use a damp rag and make sure I do INSIDE the little flap of rubber that is towards the inside of the machine).
Empty the reservoir and clean lint trap monthly (little door on bottom of unit). Takes all of 5 minutes.
Run the clean cycle every 6 weeks or so.
After a week or so of laundry, the "new" smell people complain about was just about gone. I use the HE laundry pods, and liquid softener in just about every load, and use bleach (maybe?) once per week. I think the smell people complain about comes from the rubber seal, and since I wipe that down fairly often, the "new" smell went away rapidly for me.
If you learn which settings work best for which types of load (which involves reading through the manual pretty often for the first couple of weeks), you will find that a load does NOT have to take 2 1/2 hours. I won't go into detail, but I will say - PLEASE READ THE MANUAL.
When the cycle ends, I pull out the clothes/items, give them a good shake, and hang immediately (I have a rack next to the washer as I do this - it is on wheels so it moves when I'm finished). The items are no more or less wrinkled than they were with my "traditional" washer. They DO feel damp when pulled out, and depending on how humid it is in your location, they may continue to feel damp for a bit, but they dry QUICKLY, so don't freak out.
My clothes get cleaner with this machine than they ever have before. I use less detergent, less "stain stuff," and less bleach.
That's the best I can do for a review. I hope it's helpful. I would buy this again in a heartbeat. I absolutely love it.

I bought my combo machine last December 2010 and until now 2019, it's still working great. It's a little pricey but it's so worth it. It doesn't take up too much space and so easy to use. I am a busy woman and so I love the convenience of being able to program the machine when to start washing before I leave home for work or run my errands. When I get home, my laundry is all done and ready to put away. I love to use the Perm. Press selection when I have to dry my laundry because when it's done doing the whole cycle, it intermittently spin slightly every few minutes or so for about and hour, to prevent my clothes from getting wrinkles, just in case I can't take them out of the machine right away. But I usually use the Hand wash selection when I'm at home because it takes only an hour and I just hang them dry specially my delicate dresses, lingeries and my stretch jeans.
I am taking good care of this machine so hopefully it will keep up the good work for many more years to come. I am 100% satisfied and happy with this purchase and highly recommend this to my friends and relatives.

Time and space saver

Moving into a smaller home, I needed a machine that did not eat up space yet did not sacrifice quality. The machine not only looks sharp but fits nicely in the small space.
I have had the machine for 3 months and have had no issues. my clothes come out smelling super fantastic and clean. I love that you can set the machine to transition directly to the dry cycle so you do not have to transfer clothes. The fact that it sings to you when done washing also makes laundry a more exciting task.
The few down sides are that it does take significantly longer to clean a load of laundry. Typically the clothes are slightly damp after dry cycle, usually I have to add more time or I just air them out for a few minutes. Dirt and lint also accumulate on the rubber lining on the drum opening. This can be annoying to constantly clean.
If you need space, this is the way to go. The few downsides are well worth the investment.

Convenient!

I agree with many of the other reviewers that this is not the washer/dryer solution for everyone. It is a much different experience than the traditional separate units. But since I have a space issue, and didn't want to go through the hassle and expense of installing proper dryer ventilation, this is the PERFECT solution. And I've been more than pleasantly surprised by how well it works.
Important things to know: It takes longer. Yes, this is definitely true. But for 2 people who don't go through tons of laundry, it's perfect for my household. Throw in a load in the morning, or before bed, or whenever, and forget about it til it's completely DONE. Even though the cycles are long, it saves me time.
The biggest difference/adjustment is with the dryer. Different drying method, so it takes longer, and often will leave clothes very wrinkled. I don't care that much about that, but if that bothers you it could be a big issue. I've read a lot of complaints that clothes never get dry. I have not had this experience. I've had this unit for about 4 months now, and have only had one or 2 loads that I've put back in for more drying time. TIP: Always select "MORE" on the drying options, and that seems to do the trick. When you reach in to get the clothes, everything feels sort of damp, but once you take them out and start folding, they are bone dry.
Another misconception is that you can't just dry without running them through a rinse cycle. Not true. Simply throw the clothes in, turn it on, and select a dryer setting WITHOUT TURNING THE WASH KNOB. Easy, and works great.
Two big advantages for people with space issues: 1. Only 1 unit. Full size, but takes up 1/2 the space. 2. No need for special wiring or a dryer vent. This was HUGE for me. Saved me tons of $$, as all you need is water hookup, a drain, and a standard outlet.
Overall, I'm very happy with my purchase. If I had a big, fully-equipped laundry room, a large family, and bigger budget, I would probably have a standard washer/dryer set (or this unit plus a standard dryer), because it can be annoying to have wrinkled clothes. But for me, given my situation, wrinkled clothes is an easy trade-off for all the advantages it offers.
Happy customer so far....

Best We've Seen

PLEASE READ THIS: Before we bought this machine we had read some mixed reviews on other web sites. Many people left low ratings due to shipping issues or something un-related to the machine. That is not exactly the fault of LG so we continued to look for more accurate reviews. We then came accross a few mixed reviews of people saying that their clothes came out damped out of the dryer mode. However these where only a few reviews compared to the much larger percentage of people who where giving this machine higher praise. We then decided to take a chance and buy it. This machine is absolutely superb. On heater mode, when you open the machine, condensation is created quickly and makes the clothes feel damp. That is not the case. We've done close to 100 loads since we bought it and so far every single load has dried. You can't put an enourmous load in there because then some items may come out a bit wet, but that has not been the case here. It saves us room, energy and it is extremely simple to use. It is such a great concept and it deserves praise.

worked great for 2 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Now that I've had the LG machine for several years I got to know the design flaws. There is no way for the consumer to get the lint out of the machine when it builds up and prevents the drying sensor to work. The motor and fuses blew and so far, I have had the repair person 4 times. Good thing I got an extended warranty

Absolute Perfection!

We purchased this unit 2 months ago... and as we describe it to our friends, It leaves your cloth "Al Dente". What a treat, we reside in a condo in the city and used to share the washers with the other units in the building. Decided to purchase this W/D combo and now our neighbors feel a little jeaoulous. But enough about this non sense.. The washer is excellent, cloth are dried when the cycle is finished. We have not had a problem with performance. Cloth come dry. We have experimented with Towels, Bed Sheets and normal clothing and it delivers. If you reside in a condo, or do not want to worry about having to move the cloth from the washer to the dryer, you should buy this machine. Besides, turn on the drum light, have a sit and watch Laundry TV! I wish it was available in other colors.

Second Time this Model Stopped Working
on March 14, 2015

This is my second model of this washer/dryer combo unit. The first was one that I "adopted" when buying my condo and I believe it was 5-7 years old. The problem was related to it no longer draining. Despite checking hoses, pulling it apart, etc AND having an authorized LG repair person come to diagnose.
After this frustration I decided to buy new.
I hoped to get a new model and brand due to this issue and because it takes HOURS to dry. Unfortunately, it turned out the only alternatives that would fit in my small condo consisted of a very tiny washer and dryer bin capacity size (due to the vent hose clearance needed - where this unit is ventless). So I thought I would take my chances.
After 25 months, I am back with the same problem I experienced with the first. No longer draining, at all. I have to manually drain it from a front tube which is a various laborious process. I do NOT recommend this product.
I did maintain and clean as recommended. I do not have hard water or build up. I performed regular tub cleanings and wiped around the rubber sealants to get any lint left behind after washes. Yet still, it is no longer usable.
