Love It!!

I've had this machine for approximately 2 months and absolutely love it. It makes my life much easier. The key is to read the manual. I've used several different options and haven't been disappointed yet. It does make some noise but nothing like my old washer.

Buy a washer dryer set instead.

I bought this because I'm lazy and thought it would be cool to not have to move my clothes from the washer to the dryer.
Unfortunately, I have not had such a relaxing experience with this product. There are too many things wrong with it. It is more like a prototype, or a proof of concept than a product.
The first, and most obvious flaw is how incredibly long it takes. The absolute shortest amount of time it takes to do one load (tested with a single sock on quick wash) is 4 hours. I am not kidding. it is not uncommon for a normal sized load to take up to 14 hours to complete. Most of that is the dry cycle. The wash cycle, while a little bit longer than a normal washer, isn't nearly as ridiculously long.
The second worst problem is that the drain pump breaks regularly and needs to be replaced. It is made with the same kind of plastic as a disposable spork, and it cracks, almost on queue, under normal operating conditions, entirely too often.
And last, but not least, it doesn't even actually fully clean or fully dry your clothes. The lint that is supposed to be washed down the drain just gets matted all over everything, and because it is constantly adding water, to try to wash the lint out, it never makes progress in drying the clothes. The reason why it takes such a ridiculous amount of time to dry is because of this lint washing step that doesn't even work.
Granted, the amount of dampness that is left in the clothes doesn't take long to air dry, and if you hang your clothes in a closet, it shouldn't even be an issue. But expect to have to clean lint off of everything and buy a new drain pump about every 9 months, if you still decide to buy this.

Defective drain tubing--replaced and began leaking
on December 21, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Not too long after my initial purchase the drain hose began a torrential leaking during the drying cycle. I had a warranty and it was replaced. Now the replacement is leaking in the exact same spot. Obviously, this is a part defect. Other than that I love this machine.
Pros: easy to use

Clever Machine

My husband and I purchased this washer/dryer unit for it's energy efficiency and conveinance and we are completely satisfied thus far. We knew that the capacity would be less and that dry time would be longer so we were prepared for its differences compared to conventional washers and dryers. We are a family of three and so far no issue with keeping up on laundry. We feel sacrifcing a little time for energy efficiency is a fair trade. So far we are very happy with our purchase and hope that others will discover this clever laundry unit! We are thankful to own LG's washer/dryer combo!

This product does not work as a dryer
on April 3, 2013

We bought the product because of the dryer feature. We moved into a new home and wanted to save the space of the dryer. When we tried to use the dryer feature, the cloths would not dry completely. We called customer support and found out that it could take up to 4 hours for the cloths to dry. We tried it and it was not satisfactory. We had to go out and buy dryer to get our cloths dry. It was not an LG dryer
Pros: did not perform to expectatins

I just love the ease of use them and all the compliments on the looks and the style. Everyone
is surprised at the ease of using the controls and the
sounds when cycle done. I cannot believe the quality
for the price.

Needs time to get used to .

I haven't hooked up water and drain yet. We have been using it for drying only. Washing in our old heavy duty washer. I think it doesn't spin out enough water so the drying time is longer due to this and the WM3987HW is only drying on 110 volt circuit. This discourages my wife but I feel if both washed and dried in this machine which uses less water and clothes will be less damp when wash cycle is finished. Since the HD washer leaves items wetter after wash this machine takes longer to dry the clothes. I personally am happy with it and tell my wife she will be too later on. With no more having to go down to basement all the time.

Not Satisfied

The best feature about the WM3987HW combo washer/dryer is the appearance. Beyond that it disappoints. The dryer is definitely an issue - takes too long to dry and leaves clothing feeling moist. The controls are too complex and present the user with too many options. I have owned mine for less than a month and it already requires servicing - a fuse within the heater module failed and the entire assembly has to be replaced. Also, in addition to all of the cleaning, wiping, and filter changing required to keep the unit running, the lint filter for the drying cycle is buried inside - only a service technician can get to it. This requires a service visit every year or so. I would not recommend this unit unless you have a ventless laundry closet with a 110 volt outlet in which case it is your only choice.
