Great All-in-One

I bought this model about a year ago to replace another Epson Photo printer that I was not getting any real use out of. I wanted something that would allow me to print quickly, scan pictures and not cost a fortune in ink. I have not been dissapointed. One function I have been most pleased with is the ability to use the wireless printing option with my laptop....Angels singing... I am very pleased with the print quality and my neighbors have borrowed my printer for their childrens projects many times. I have found this printer very useful and versitle. I am extremely happy that I purchased this printer and have had no issues at all while using it.

What a waste

I purchased this unit a year ago. I originally purchased this item because of the feed scanner and built in fax machine. At first I was really happy with the product, then there came the complications. While trying to print I kept getting lines, eventually I went trough 2 sets of ink cartridges in an attempt to clean the heads to no avail. Epson replaced the unit with a new one and provided a new set of ink cartriges, It was not a simple replacement though as I had to eventually remove all drivers and reinstall them to get the second unit to work. Finally when I went to print a few form, the black cartridges are now empty, I have printed less than 5 pages(Five) since the new install. I plan to buy more ink sone, but if this continues I am seriously considering just giving the unit to charity and buying a different brand product.

Ink hog and no user control

Do not waste your money on this machine. The low cost is misleading because the ink costs -- it uses ink almost instantly and I print infrequently -- will make this very expensive. Also, the user has no control for overriding the low ink warnings to continue printing or copying. Yes, gray scale is an option, but only on printing, not copying. I would be okay with faint ink on a personal document -- give me that choice!

Workforce 520

Overall performance compares well with other brands I have used.
Instructions are not always user friendly. It took me quite a while to realize that I could change cartridges using just the printer controls. Also, paper that has the holes already punched will not feed through.
Other than that, I have found it easy to use.

Out-of-the-box simplicity

The Epson WorkForce 520 does everything that my previous printers and all-in-ones haven't done. It gives me speed, low cost-per-copy, and ease-of-use. The print quality is excellent, and it seems to outguess me at every turn as far as operational simplicity is concerned. I don't use the fax application, but I have no worries about connecting a landline in case I ever have the need.
The design and features are intuitive, the set-up is straightforward, and the only drawbacks seem to be that screens and halftones slow down the black printing a bit, and the software takes a bit of time to load.
The up-front cost is quite reasonable, and at around 2 1/2 cents per copy, the value is extraordinary. I am very pleased with the unit; it delivers on everything it promises--and then some!

First printer that meets my needs.

I bought this printer after talking with an Epson representative about it. First of all the printer is great when it comes to printing both images and raw documents, the ink duration is acceptable compared to any other of it's kind. The only problem I have with it, is how noisy the printer is, you start printing and it sounds like if it was killing someone.
However the printer get's the job done above expectations and at a really fast speed making it a great deal.
Yet for the price you can't ask for much more than you got in this one. Specially since inks are rather cheap and easy to find in stock.
