This printer has been the worst that I have ever had. I have done updates, reinstalled the printer, tried everything that I could think of and it doesn't print all of my documents. It has failed me when I needed it and I can't afford to trash it and buy another.

May work well, but won't unless ink is installed

Got this AIO mainly for scanning functions, but when set up, found out it won't work unless ink is installed. My mistake for not researching this more in depth first, but ridiculous for Epson to require ink, when scanning has nothing to do with it.

I like the 420 very much. Everything that I have done with it and need it to do it does fantastic. The only complaint that I would have is the amount of ink it uses. The capacity of the cartridges are just not there yet so you do have to change them quite often. Especially if you do use the printer alot. The printing of pictures are fantastic as well as documents. I would recommend this to any home user.

Could be Better

The setup instructions were not easily followed for wi-fi use. The printer stops working when it thinks it is out of ink which limits resupply to only Epson cartridges. Experience with other printers suggests there is still plenty of ink remaining when it claims to require replacing. The setup window does not include an option to exit.

When this printer works, it's great. Although, it has decided to repeatedly give me a "communication error" and has ceased to work at all. I have uninstalled and now it will not reinstall. Good to know that I should refer to my printed "Quick Start" guide because everybody knows exactly where their PRINTED quick start guide is, and it doesn't make any sense to include it in the online guide. Ha. Very frustrating and not worth the time.

The Epson Stylus-NX420 is the very best and simplistic device to setup that I've had the pleasure to introduce into our family's computing complex. It's unobtrusive footprint makes for a great living room addition. I have had many printers over the last thirty years and by far this has been the lowest cost, high feature and highly productive printer I have ever owned. From the high quality print output to the ease of copy and remote scan features the NX420 exactly addresses everyday home needs.

This printer is fine except when I need to print something and it decides to tell me Im "low" on ink when im OUT of ink, and then refuses to print the page anyways (even though Im pretty sure their is the small amount left that is necessary to print 1 or 2 pages. Also if you are out of any of the colors it would let you print in black and white until you replace the colors. The manuel says you can set it to temporarily print in black and white, which I changed the setting to but nope nothing. Other than that it is a decent print. The quality is really nice and the pictures come out good. Just make sure you are stocked up on ink before you decide to print a paper the night before its due.
