This is a good printer for the household. We do not print a lot so the speed of the printing is not an issue (about 10 seconds per page). We also were not concerned with ink prices for the same reason. The scanner also has good quality imaging although I have not read the manual to see if you can scan multiple pages to one document.
I would recommend this to a friend!

The printer was actually pretty easy to set up. The one major glitch was the USB cable. The location makes it very difficult to access the port and it's not a standard USB cable. It would have been much easier if it was on the back of the printer and not tucked into a little cubbyhole. Printer itself is easy to use and makes nice documents and copies. I'd defnitely recomment it.

Good printer, great price

Jumped into the 21st century with this one. Still have my old Epson 3000 tractor feed printer so I obviously have a track record with the Epson brand from 1992 to present.
Loaded software online from Epson website to my netbook. No CD-ROM drive needed. Have to click "save" rather than "run" to start the sequence of connecting the printer to the netbook by WIFI connection.
Used some ancient paper left from old Epson tractor feed and the color was still good. Just got some paper more specific for ink jet and laser printers. Makes photographic like pictures. So far so good. Would like to know if it will do a direct connect WIFI so a router isn't needed? This would be a bonus.

The NX420 is our 4th Epson printer. All have excedes my expectation. The NX420 is outstanding in all of the operations it can perform. The setup for all computers was quick and easy. Wireless is the way to today and this unit for the price is just super.

I have only just set it up...I had problems but they were not the printer or the product....it was my knowledge and not reading manuals....figure I know it all. I moved the printer to another room and tested a print job and all is well. I'm glad to have it because I have a laptop and a desktop. The desktop is connected to a non-wireless all in one and I love it but I have been using my laptop a lot lately and have found on many occasion that I wanted to print something and couldn't. So now I can.
I would recommend this to a friend!
