Excellent, but......heavy loaf.

Have had the Zojirushi for several years; this is my second one. The original still works; I wanted an updated version. It truly is an automatic bread-maker. However, the finished loaves are consistently dense and heavy. I'd love suggestions to make the bread lighter. I use bread flour--a mixture of 3-to-1--white and whole wheat flour.

Makes great bread

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have always wanted a breadmaker but the traditional style always seemed weird. This one is great because it is a more of a loaf. The booklet that comes with it is great because it gives you recipes and they are so easy to use. My daughter loved the viewing window because she could watch things happen. This is the perfect breadmaker.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The same day that I received this bread maker I had a loaf in it that same night!! It's amazing what this thing does and how easy it is!! The machine comes with an instructional disc, and easy directions in print. On the basic breads it's so easy, just put your ingredients in the pan and start the timer it basically does everything for you. High 5, awesome machine.

Wonderful consistent loaves

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The ZOJIRUSHI Home Bakery Supreme Breadmaker is an easy to use and very versatile machine. In addition to loaves of bread, the machine can be used to make many other food items such as Jams, pizza dough, cakes and even meat loaf. As a bread maker the Zojirushi makes wonderful consistent loaves of bread in the more traditional horizontally rectangular loaf shape. The Bakery Supreme comes with lots of recipes in the manual as well as troubleshooting and adjustments you can make while cooking and suggestions for modifying recipes to make Your perfect loaf. The display is easy to read and audible tones are generated as reminders when your interaction is required or when the loaf is done. There is also a large viewing window to watch or check the progress of your loaf. This machine has a "quick baking feature" which produces a loaf in less than three hours, with very little loss of texture or grain quality compared to the full term cycle. In addition there is a keep warm function which will keep the bread warm for several hours after cooking without drying or over crusting the loaf if you are not "Johnny on the spot" when the loaf is done. There is also a "Crust control" which controls the crust browning which is really nice for the finer French breads or some of the more robust Mediterranean styles. As I said, the manual has many recipes, but there is still a learning curve, especially for your favorite family recipes, which most likely do not compensate for non-stick beater vs hand kneading etc. (ie. may require more flour or oil). The Zojirushi has dual beaters in the base and the preprogrammed kneading and rise cycles worked amazingly well, even with smaller batches. When baking is complete, the loaves are easily extracted and cleaning the machine is extremely simple. One note: This machine has the ability to make a large 2lb loaf of bread. However, you should remember that if you make too large of a loaf, then the slices may not be the ideal size for sandwich (bags) or clubs. In addition, you may have to experiment to get the proper size loaf to enable the slices to fit your toaster. (or just trim the loaf). Personally, I like a nice, large, hot, fresh slice right out of the bread machine.
