We purchased this refrigerator in January and it was installed in February. We love the two doors and freezer below. It looks great and was very quiet. It became very noisy in 4 months. GE Service corrected the problem.

Nice but very loud

Installed on 6/20/2015. The features of this refrigerator are great. But this unit has one major distraction.....it is very loud and this is with the new updated fan and software.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

great size counter depth fridge/freezer

Bought this to match other GE profile appliances we purchased for our kitchen. It is nice, plenty of room for food for our family of 3. Freezer storage is quite ample and drawer in freezer makes it easy to find things. Water self dispensing feature is pretty neat. Cons are that the water stains the body of the fridge and fingerprints easily too but cleans easily with a damp rag followed by a paper towel. Also, apparently not noted in the specs (as we ran into trouble with our cabinet maker), the fridge does stick out beyond counter depth by about 4.5 inches so make sure you leave room to accommodate this!

We bought this to go in our new home and I went with all GE Profile appliances so they would match. Final selections were done based on features and appearance. I wanted Ice and Water in the door and thought I'd give the French Door style a try.
I'm not crazy about the French doors. Inevitably, what I want is on the "other" side from the side I have opened. The bottom drawer with selectable temperatures cannot be opened unless both doors are open. I wish they had made this two drawers side by side. This is also the first fridge where I had to put the tall items like milk and orange juice in the door. I'm not crazy about that arrangement either. But these all have to do with how you use the fridge. The unit has performed beautifully so far.
I LOVE the ice and water in the door. Getting ice out without ending up with ice chips on the floor is a little tricky, but the water dispenser is wonderful and can be used for filling large pitchers as well as glasses. The tray at the bottom of the dispenser is stainless and that is a bit of a problem to keep nice and clean. No matter how careful you are when you dispense water, you will come back to find water spots on that tray - and with our water, they don't simply wipe off. The taste of the water is wonderful. I am fussy about my water (for drinking) and previously used bottled water or BRITA filtered water only. Haven't gotten that BRITA pitcher out yet! This also has an auto fill feature that is quite novel - you put the container on the tray and it magically fills it just short of the top. Note that this feature .does not work on small juice glasses - ask me how I know - ha ha. The water filter has been in use for about three months now and still registers as "good" on the control panel.
The new appliances all beep and "talk" to you. We aren't fans of that so we turned off all the beeping except for the "door open" alarm. I was glad that I had that option.
The freezer drawer design is quite efficient I think and enables me to organize the space effectively.
Given the space considerations in our kitchen I'm still not sure if the French doors were the best idea. But otherwise the fridge works beautifully!

My GE refridgerator

I am not as happy with this as I thought I'd be. After only 4 months or so the fan for the fridge went out. I was helped and it was fixed on warranty but it took 10 days! I lost food and GE was good about reimbursing me. I am dissappointed with the design of the refridgerator. It is a counter depth but should have had more thought put into design. Untill a person uses it and not just sees it on the showroom floor you aren't aware o f the lack of space or that if you have cupboards above the fridge you'll have to open the fridge door before you open the cupboard above due to the lip on the double doors, I previously had a Ge side by side that lasted 22 years. Won't have that kind of luck anymore Im sure. Probably wouldn't spend the kind of money this cost on the same model again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I like this refrigerator. I especially like the interior lighting and through the door water and ice. The ice maker makes a bit of noise when the ice falls, but that's to be expected and after a while it blends into the background noises.
