Best Bang for the Buck!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This beautiful stainless steel side by side refrigerator replaced a much more expensive "new" (not GE) refrigerator that didn't work properly, and was so noisy we couldn't take it anymore. The GE PSHS6PGZBESS is a tried and true refrigerator freezer that works (period). It's classy, functional, with a one evaporator system (so it's extremely quiet), the ice maker is inside the freezer compartment and not on the door so the ice stays completely frozen at 0 degrees at all times. If you want a refrigerator that looks great and after you plug it in you never think about it, this is the one to buy!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Awful Product

For the money, this is the worst product ever. The noise is terrible and the ice maker is the worst. We tried to have it serviced and was told by the tech that the higher end GE products aren't worth the money with lots of problems. Very disappointed in this product after four years and it wasn't cheap. BAD MISTAKE!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Only complaint is that the water tastes like new plastic. If I run the water out and then have some, it's fine. But as soon as it sits for a while, it tastes bad again. Service man was here for the dishwasher. He didn't detect the taste though everyone else in my family does and we now avoid drinking the water. Kind of a useless feature for us now.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great features and interior design. It holds a lot in the door bins. The water in the door had a bad taste to it and GE's solution was to take the filter out. That helped but I don't know why. All in all - a good ref.

Good refrigerator overall

It looks sleek, has some creative concepts (like the shelf that slides back into a half shelf so you can fit soda bottles right there in front of you on one of the main shelves). The LED lights make a nice effect as they slowly fade on as you open the doors. They certainly provide plenty of light. The fridge and freezer stay very cold and there are some reasonably simple controls on the dial to change things around.
Things to know: the fridge makes a low "howling" sound from time to time when the compressor is going. It's not crazy, and any fridge at this price point is going to make noise. Based on the extensive research we did on other comparable models, this doesn't seem that bad. It just sounds like the faint sound of the wind outside on a cold winter night. If I have to hear any noise, it's at least comforting that it is the sound of cold air rushing instead of a drip or something worse!
Also, even though this is the way ALL fridges are, I don't understand why technology hasn't been created allowing for faster dispensing of filtered water. Takes about 30 seconds to fill up a 24 oz water bottle.
Overall, has served us well and looks really sharp in our kitchen to boot.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Looks and Works Great!

The lights are very bright so it is easy to find something on any shelf. The water and ice dispenser works better than expected. The ice cubes don't freeze together and get clumpy like other refrigerators I have owned.
