Great layout inside

I just bought this but love it already had another brand and it didn't last 3 years went back to GE - this looks and works like an ultra expensive one but with out the cost! love the layout inside and so sleek and luxurious on the outside!
I would recommend this to a friend!

It is huge from outside, but inside is not so

Remodeled my kitchen 3 years ago, bought all GE appliances. The shelves in the Refrigerator side is so narrow, and the front of the shelves have white plastic piece rounded downward (losing 1/4 to 1/2 inch of accessibility) of which scratches the hand when putting stuff under each shelf. Also prevents the dish or packet to slide straight in. The freezer is worse. The wire shelves and wire baskets all falling down. Not wide enough to sit between the groves (poor design) or so, I don't know how else to explain.

Decent frustrating freezer shelving

Decent fridge. 6 years in and has a lot of cracking. The freezer shelves will not stay up and this is extremely frustrating.

Horrible product, HORRIBLE SUPPORT and Horrible workmanship

It is 230am and I am awake from the AWFUL noise that the manufacturer calls NORMAL. For this amount of money, I would expect to have a fridge that was whisper quite! I am very dissapointed in the quality of this appliance, the help from the manufacturer (whom I delt with directly on this issue), and the lack of longevity of the system!
DO NOT purschase this product if you enjoy your sanity. The banging and clunking that occurs while the compressor runs (and its not event the compressor making the noise, its the seald system), will drive you nuts. I would give it away at this point, but nobody will take it form me!
Also my last review on this was rejected, or removed from the the site. Funny, huh?

Very average sums it up, though dissapointing for a 'Profile' appliance ...

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We replaced all of our GE appliances with updated GE appliances ~8 months ago … While all have disappointed us, this refrigerator less so.
We have not had any reliability issues with this refrigerator but, we find one aspect of ‘using’ this appliance a source of frustration. The source of this frustration is that the backlighting for the water/ice controls is around the ‘edge’ of the buttons, not behind the lettering of the buttons themselves. So, guess what ? While this is not an issue during the day so long as you have a reasonable amount of natural lighting in the kitchen, just try to read those labels during the early morning or evening hours … You can’t. The bright white backlighting around the edge of the buttons obscures your vision when trying to read the button labels. How this flaw could have possibly not been noticed during the design phase is beyond me.
This problem with either incorrect or lack of proper backlighting is common in one form or another across all of the appliances we purchased. With the range and microwave, the lettering of all pad controls is gray on a black background, with ‘no’ back lighting ! You can see this for yourself in the appliance photos on this site, and zooming in makes it even more apparent. The natural lighting within our kitchen area is well within the range of normal but, because of the lack of contrast between the lettering and the background it’s necessary to turn on additional lights #overhead kitchen light, microwave above the stove, etc.# just to be able to ‘see/read’ the controls. You almost need a flashlight to use the controls, and I’m exaggerating only slightly. To us, this is a design blunder.
Another disappointment is that the while the control backlighting on the refrigerator is white, the temperature/clock/timer lighting on the stove and microwave is greenish. All are Profile appliances, all purchased new and all purchased at the same time. I understand designs change over time but, putting out a ‘current’ line of appliances #e.g. Profile# with mixed lighting shows lack of attention to detail.
On the plus side, we noticed the crisper drawer has fewer fragile plastic parts as compared to the previous model of this refrigerator, which is a good thing because the crisper drawer in the refrigerator we replaced broke by the 2nd or 3rd year, and of course replacing it would have been prohibitively expensive and the replacement drawer would almost certainly have broken in the same place, anyway, so we lived with it. The new design is just a bit less convenient but seems to be less prone to breaking. I choose reliability over convenience.
Also on the plus side, I must say the Ice Maker in the Profile Artica refrigerators seems to be highly reliable, or at least it was in the one we replaced and in this one so far. We’ve never had one problem, and it gets used a lot ! Perhaps that’s the key … Frequent use.
Overall, we’re fairly pleased with this refrigerator but, the GE Engineers, Human Factors and Quality Control folks should spend more time with these units in the ‘real’ world and less time in the lab.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This refrigerator makes too much noise.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Simply put, this refrigerator (model pshs6pgzss) makes way to much noise, almost to the point of annoying. We had a tech come out and look at it and he said that this was "normal" for the "newer" types of refrigerators. I would have NEVER bought this had anyone told me this much noise would have been "normal". The only way to explain it is it sounds like a sick duck. Definitely disappointed for that amount of money.

This product DOES have great features

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have had this refrigerator for about two years and have not had any problems whatsoever. The ice maker is amazingly quick to refill. In fact we've never been without enough ice especially with parties. No more running to the local beer distributor for ice. The usable space is also great. With just a little rearrangement we seem to always fit everything we've bought, even large cakes, frozen pizza and gallon containers. We never thought a refrigerator could hold so much.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love many of the features!

The Refrigerator and Freezer have wonderful lighting - that makes it easier to see and locate your food products. Love the Feature for Turbo Cooling (especially after grocery shopping). Refrig is very roomy and versatile with the sliding shelves. Refrigerator is very quite. It also seems to make adequate amount of ice then most refrigerators that I have ever owned - and when you want more you can always use the Quick Ice Feature. Which is used often because it is always hot where we live and ICE is a must! .....The only MAJOR problem I see is that the Two out of the Three Major pull out baskets collapse for no reason no matter how much you have in them - for some reason it is like they do not fit in the Freezer properly ... as if they have shrunk, I am trying to find a resolution to this matter - because I really like this refrigerator ... but it is extremely frustrating.
I would recommend this to a friend!
