This is a lot of features for the price And the machine was packed very well to prevent shipping damages or scratches to it high luster finish.
The installation was confusing. The manual appears to be a translation of Japanese to English by a non native speaker. To add to the confusion, it is multi lingual on every page so there are lots of pages to turn and it a pain locating your language.
The wireless feature is very cool. You don't need to dedicate one computer to this. You also are limited to using one computer - all the computers in the office can connect to it.
Autoscanner is SLOW SLOW SLOW. I hope I can learn to optimize the speed but it takes forever to scan 25 pages. The only good thing is that it can do that in the background and you don't need to be wired to the scanner all that time.
OCR software is unusable - the quality is very poor.
The price is still a steal.
Pros: Lightweight/Portable, easy to use, well packaged, nice looking
Cons: Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, slow scanner, ocr is very inaccurate
I would recommend this to a friend!

Impossible set up

I bought this printer because it was priced reasonably. I didn't really NEED a wireless printer, but I have the capability so I figured this would be a good printer. The set up was tedious and the directions were VERY confusing (and I know a fair amount about computers). After the set up was complete, I could not get it to work properly. It even crashed my network. After over 2 hours of frustration, I uninstalled the software and used a completely different method for wireless printing. Once I did that, it work great. Print quality is good for the price.
Pros: price
Cons: set up, size (large footprint)

poorly engineered cheap junk

I bought this without doing a lot of research. If I had, I would have seen that many other MacBook Pro users were having problems setting up the wifi. The instructions aren't linear, neither are the prompts by the machine itself. It took me 8 hours to set the thing up, unacceptable in this day and age. After finally getting it so my Mac would see it on my network (and only my Mac, not our other one) the only function that would work was the scan. The computer still wouldn't see the printer. Nice design, cheap parts are to be expected for 79 bucks, but there is no excuse for poor user interface in this day and age. The readout says to "... please wait a while", rather ominous.
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Difficult Setup, High Ink Consumption, Flimsy Construction

so far so good..but...

I just go my printer 2 days ago and so far so good. Great value, good features, easy to use so far and except for setting up the wireless feature set-up was easy. It's as if no one at Canon ever proof-read the start-up manual so don't get frustrated and just call the tech desk...they were helpful and the shame is it's not so complicated it's just that the manual is poorly done.
Also, the install CD dumps 6 icons on your desktop...too many! But those are minor and so far so good!
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed
Cons: Difficult Setup
I would recommend this to a friend!

not the Quality I expected

I purchased based on name to replace a printer I had for 4 years. I do a lot of OCR and graphics. The OCR is of poor quality. My old printer was at about 99.5%, no matter the size or font. I now am getting at best 80-85% on any document I process thru OCR, so I do a lot of typing. The graphics will allow on very basic rotating and saving. If you are looking for a printer, copier, and/or fax it is great, but not as OCR or graphics processing
Pros: Easy Setup, durable, fast print speed
Cons: poor ocr, poor graphics processing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

About three months since i purchased this product. Using it at home with two computers, connection free, since it's a wireless device. Photo printing and scanning is so much easier. Haven't used the OCR, but assume reliability. very confident with the product.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Low Ink Consumption, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use, easy connection
I would recommend this to a friend!

Solid Performer with some flaws...

I have owned this printer for more than a year. I purchased it for the WiFi capability and hopefully(?) low ink consumption. It has been a solid performer but I have some issues that are probably software related. I can't seem to print 1 page out of three! That of course uses more ink. I have a tedious work around but it makes this printer slower and noisier than it already is.

wireless is worthless

Setting up and keeping the wireless is a pain, it works sometimes for a while then you just get to randomly set it up again. The software included is typical bloatware and is essentially useless. Printer itself works good for the price
