I Love Everything, But The LCD Screen

I found this printer very easy to set up as a wireless printer, IF you ignore the recommendation in the setup guide that if your network has WEB skip to page 35. Don't do that, just follow along,insert the CD and follow its directions. It installs itself including the WEP password by connecting the printer to your PC during setup and it reads the WEP directly from your PC. The necessary cable to do this is included with the printer. Once its setup remove the cable and its a completely wireless, network printer.
Decent printing, easy to use. My biggest gripe which caused me to downgrade my satisfaction is that the small LCD screen has no backlight requiring as external overhead light source to read it. This is particularly irksome during installation when you have to continually read the LCD screen during setup until you get to the part where you insert the CD into your PC. Then again when using the device as a FAX or Printer you need to rely on the LCD screen. With a backlight I would have rated my satisfaction much higher.
Pros: Easy Setup, easy to use
Cons: no lcd backlight

This is, by far, the best all-in-one you can get for this low price! The print quality is amazing, the scanner and fax quality is amazing.... i would say the only thing i don't like about this printer (which could be fixed by a software update) is that not only does it have to warm up when you print, but even if you just printed it will still warm up before it prints.... They should do a software update to put a warm up delay for at least 1 minute after the previous print job..... but this is the only thing i dont like about the printer... the scanner software is easy to use and high quality and lets you save the documents as either a jpeg or pdf, which is great for emailing documents.... its really easy to setup the Wi-Fi and i haven't had a single problem, which is surprising after my last wifi printer! Its really easy to fax too, which is surprising because it never is, plus it listens for incoming faxes and even if you pick up the phone, if you hang up it will still receive the fax... i really like this all-in-one and really suggest buying one! If you are reading this you are obviously interested in buying it, so do it... you won't be sorry, i promise you'll love this printer! If it ever gets out dated or broken(don't think it will) i will be buying more cannon products! They just won a customer for life!
Pros: very high quality borderless prints!
Cons: warms up even if you just printed

The easy print is a GREAT feature! I dont have to print up all the extra text and graphics from web pages, just what I want. This feautre also works with windows 7, but I didnt see that written in the specifications. I use 2 computers: a win 7 and a win XP with this printer, and everything is smooth and easy. There are A LOT of feautres! You can even print graphing paper for math assignments (im in college) or larger lined paper to practice handwriting (I have a 2 year old and loook forward to using this!). This is a great printer. A little loud on start up, but I am VERY happy with this printer. It was a great deal as well. You can also choose to use JUST ONE CARTRIDGE if the ink runs out of the other one (only uses a black or color cartridge)! WHAT a MONEY SAVER! So pleased with this.
Pros: can be set to run with only one printer cartridge, lots of features, smooth network install with win 7 64, smooth install with win xp, many more uses after low ink warning
Cons: a bit noisy on start up and shut down

i found this printer to be all it was advertised to do. IT WAS EASY TO SET UP AND EASY TO GET STARTED. iT IS A VERY HIGH QUALITY MACHINE, AND i WOULD RECCOMMEND IT TO ANYONE,

great quality bad instructions

This printers packaging and build quality are exellent, fit and finish are great ease of use once set up is wonderfull but the instructions are confuseing you have to load the software before u can set up the printer even though the manual says to wait untill step 9 to install the software. It should be between steps 3 and 4 once I figured that out everything was a breeze. so i would recomend this all-in-one to everyone just keep that in mind.
Pros: reliable, durable, easy to use
Cons: Difficult Setup

I am very impressed with the print quality, but quite dissapointed with the wireless set-up and the manual is one of the worst I have ever seen! The technical writer did not consider the non-technical end-user that would use this book as an installation and reference tool. My strong suggestion is to revisit this, because it doesnt work for product support.

Cons: poor manual

Workhorse that has stood the test of time

I originally bought this printer because I have a Canon digital camera, and know it's a generally reliable brand. It was also reasonably priced, and was a TRUE all-in-one. Where I live, having a real fax machine is critical. The software provided by Canon makes printing and maintaining a breeze. I love being able to do everything from my Windows machines.
Like most equipment, the key to longevity is to keep the printer clean and well maintained. Unlike many printers, I've had no problems with ink clogging or "gunking up" when it sits for a while. I used a 3rd party cartridge once, and while it worked okay, I've found the Canon XL cartridges to be efficient and work excellent. They are also less expensive than many of the newer models. I've had no problem printing using my mobile devices either.
I have 20+ years of experience in IT, and while I have considered replacing this printer on a couple occasions, simply because I have had it for several years, I've yet to find another that will work well enough to justify the expense. The ink is still readily available, and it works wonderfully with everything I need to use it with.
Unlike other users, I have *never* had a problem with connectivity with this printer. I connect it to my wireless network, and it stays connected and readily available. The few times there has been a problem connecting, it turned out to be on the computer end, a result of driver updates etc. Removing and reinstalling the printer generally solved the problem.
