Overall Canon's Best Yet

There are many Canon SD Series Elph Cameras to ponder. But it was simply a toss up between this fine camera, and the Elph 500hs. But I wanted the larger LCD screen for playback, videos and love that the F stop is 2.8 vs. other models. In addition, the true Wide Angle format is superb. All touch screen is really nice and the future for most electronic devices. This is my third SD Elph camera and all are still excellent quality. Canon by far as great reliable products. For those less knowledgeable regarding features: Its important to have lower F Stop for low light situations. And the other factor is the lens going from Wide Angle to Tele. 24mm Lens is great to have, to capture group shots of family , friends and what the naked eye captures. The HDMI output is also great for sharing proud pictures and videos directly to the Widescreen HDTV . This is a great camera with no complaints here.
Pros: good battery life, Good Low-Light Performance, Nice features/settings, excellent image quality, durable, Bright LCD, Lightweight/Portable, Simple controls/menu, easy to use, fast f stop 2.8, true wide angle 24mm, largest lcd 3.5 inch 460k pixels, hdmi out to tv

returned camera

After 3 months of use, I was still not satisfied with the quality of pics. On screen the pictures look fine, but once you download them they are fuzzy and not crisp. I did like the touch screen, but the quality was terrible. After much use, and trying to fix my pics on the computer,I finally decided to return the camera, and get the canon G11, which takes much better quality pics.
Pros: nice features
Cons: bad quality pictures

Bad LCD display glass
on July 28, 2010

The good part for this product that it had big LCD display window and it's touch screen to operate all the functions. I had used for a month and it was cracked on the LCD display inner glass. The outer glass was OK because I didn't drop the camera and it was stored in the hard case also. I will not buy the big LCD display camera in the future unless the product gets to be improved on the LCD display glass.

I have always used Canon Products (AT1, A1, Elph film and my Powershot 540. I want to like the SD3500 IS and purchased the camera because of the 24mm wide-angle lens (perfect for shooting boat interiors). I am sorry to report, IMO, the picture quality is not up to snuff. I'm not saying the pictures are not good, it's just that they are no better than my 6MP 540 (and in some case not as good). I love the touch screen, the overall quality and feel of the camera and the ease of use. I'm just not satisfied with the picture quality - the pictures seem soft - crisp. Maybe I need to step up to the G11 or the new Rebel.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality

Very bad distortion
on February 26, 2010

Distortion is horrible. This problem alone makes this a "do not buy" recommendation. That said, it is a fine camera in every other respect and nicely priced for it's features. LCD screen is superb and controls are easy. Low light is only average. More rounded corners would make the shape of the camera more friendly.
Pros: Nice features/settings, Bright LCD, Simple controls/menu, easy to use
Cons: Poor image quality

pretty good

I think this camera is good for someone who likes to play around. I was really surprised when the indoor pictures are very bad quality and this costed like 400 bucks. I would of much rather gotten an slr for another 2oo for way better pictures. the touch part is very good, but its very delicate and u cant do a few things that other canon cameras can like recording, slow motions videos, swapping colors etc. Im pretty happy with it, just surprised about the price and the unclarity of the pictures. there are a lot of other cool modes on this
