I had a Samsung 37" previously and loved it. I wanted to step up to 120hz and slightly larger screen size. I first bought another brand with same screen size that had LED. User reviews were very good so I bought it. Did not like the picture at all so took it back to the store and swapped at same price for this Samsung 40" without LED. Don't know what the rave is about LED because I saw nothing in the other set that impressed.
This tv has great picture quality as did my other Samsung and I find the adjustments to be easy to work with. My other Samsung had a small light at the bottom that glowed when the set was on. I loved it and do miss it. I wish Samsung put that on all there Tv's.
The only problem (and it may not be a problem) is I have not been able to get it to update the firmware that Samsung support offers for this tv. I have tried everything possible and it keeps saying "no file available" even thought the file is clearly on my USB drive. Also tried updating directly online and it says "no file available currently." Maybe it doesn't really need the update but if so it would be nice if it said that instead of no file available.
I have yet to try streaming video but was able to connect to my home network with no problem.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

This tv has a wonderful picture and the sound is great. Installation was very easy. I hooked it up to Samsung BlueRay with Wireless and together it is a DREAM!!
I shopped for about a year before buying a new HDTV. After on-line research, and talking with store sales staff and friends, I decided on the LN40C630. It is a good HDTV, with some notable misses.
First, despite following the instructions to the letter, and having both a valid off-air HDTV signal, as well as a signal on the AV-1 input, the PIP function fails to work. It is greyed out in the menu, and is inaccessible. I have even flashed the most recent firmware available from Samsung, with no change.
My second issue concerns the audio system. I have used an outboard stereo amp on every TV I have owned in the last 15 years. All that were equipped with component jacks allowed you to use the built-in volume control to adjust the volume on the external amp. Not this one. If you enable the audio output, the volume control is no longer available. This is my biggest disappointment with this TV.
Overall, a good TV, but I would have chosen a different model had I known about these short comings prior to my purchase.
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color
Cons: Did not meet expectations
I would recommend this to a friend!

Well, seriously this TV is awesome. I play video games on it and its incredible. One thing I noticed though is that you can tell who has true HD or not. For instance my Grandparents just happened to buy this same TV and they have cable. We have satellite. Their TV looks ten times better than mine. But I've played videos games on it so I know it's not the TV. Same model number and everything. It will make you want to switch to the best service I should say.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
