After reading the reviews online about LG's HD televisions, I decided to purchase the 42LD550. I am amazed by the quality of the picture. Even I, a non-technical person, could easily set up the set.

Digital tuner stopped working within 1 month of purchase. New Netcast apps have never been added to this model.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This the very first HDTV we have ever bought, and owned I am so so glad we did !! We bought this because of the name LG...and their quality!!...
It was so easy to set up, from out of box to watching it, was all about 15 minutes... and the clarity is so wonderful makes every channel feel like they are right in your living room...
Well worth the cost !!!
You won't disappointed !!!

Needs more attention to details

This is a great TV with a beautiful picture. I love the TV, but there are a few things that don't work quite the way I would like.
First: The TV displays the time when you turn it on, but otherwise there is no way (that I've found) to get the TV to display the current time. In particular, when viewing the "Info" about the current program, you can't see the current time.
Second: When you press "Info" about the current program, it shows you the title and description of the program. It also lets you browse through the channels to see what is on other channels. However, every channel but the current channel shows just "No Program Information". Even if you tune to a channel (press channel up), press "Info" (to confirm info is available), then press channel down, the information is forgotten! This makes the ability to scroll through channels in the info menu useless for determining what to watch.
Pros: Quality
I would recommend this to a friend!

Having saved up enough money for an LCD flat screen tv, I spent time researching something that would be worth all that hard-earned cash. Even as I arrived at Best Buy to purchase it, I still wasn't sure on what to purchase, that is, until I saw it. It was aesthetically perfect for my newly furnishing living room, and it was on sale too..
Anyways, it truly was a good purchase seeing as, after a couple months, it's very easy to manage and the sound and visual quality is quite crisp.
Pros: Performance, Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Greatest Achievement of My LIFE.

After endless nights of comparing prices and features between models and brands, i decided to "settle" for the 42LD550. In all honesty i couldn't be anymore satisfied with my new LG HDTV. The minute i opened the box it felt as if Christmas had come early. This thing is tricked out from top to bottom with amazing interactive features such the Net Cast which i have become addicted to in a matter of days. Not only can i stream personal media from my PC to the TV in a matter of seconds, but i can do it without a plethora of wires. Unfortunately a separate adapter is needed for wireless connectivity, something i wasn't overly excited about but all in all the 42LD550 has left my jealous friends and I breathless every time it turns on.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality
Cons: wireless adapter is sold separately
