I waited until we had used this item for 2 years to give our true prospective after a lot of use. All in all, we have been very pleased with this refrigerator/freezer. It looks great and it has many convenient features, especially the refrigerator drawer, and the water/ice dispenser is fairly nice too. Okay, now for the little stuff that makes it a 4 star instead of a 5 star item. Obviously it's expensive so I think it's okay to mention these negatives. One, the filter is very expensive and it has to be changed about every 5 months. That being said it's very easy to change the filter and the water tastes great to us, the ice cubes clear. Also, like many of the better items in the world someone decided to be cheap with some of the little features. The divider in the freezer is of poor quality and will crack or break easily as frozen foods bump against it. Another terribly cheap and poorly designed feature was discovered when spilled tea leaked under the larger, lower glass shelf in the fridge. There are two of the most pathetic, cheap little plastic clips holding the glass shelf down. With the utmost care, strictly following the instructions, we gently removed the clips in the back to lift out the glass shelf for cleaning but alas the clips still snapped in half. They are a terrible design and garbage. The clips probably aren't all of that necessary during most use of the fridge, but when Samsung puts out an updated product they need to replace these lousy clips with something that turns or pops up - something that last and that makes it easy to remove the large glass shelf for cleaning. Still, I have to say all in all we are still very pleased with this appliance and would recommend it.

This refrigerator has much more room than my old one, and it costs less to run. It looks good and provides easy access to all items inside, even for my kids.

Shuts Off For No Reason

Overall, I love the style of this refrigerator however, I've lost all of the contents in my freezer TWICE now because the entire unit shuts off for no reason. I have no idea why. There are no power outages at the time. It just shuts itself off. We have tried the troubleshooting tips and the online FAQs to no avail. Finally just had to unplug it and plug it back in to reset it. That's ridiculous. What a shame to pay this kind of money for a unit that causes this kind of trouble.

Cons: Did not meet expectations

Great fridge, love it looks great, Ice maker output took a little getting used to and its really loud but i can live with that, had no other complaints at this point

we love the fridge.. but the ice maker.. produces little ice. or we run out of it really quickly.. there is never any ice except for the morning. i would also like to have the feature to shut off the 'cubed' ice or to be able to lock the ice with say a 'code' or combination. this way.. when my kids use all the ice. i can fill it up and prevent them from using it until its full.
i also dont care that there is only one location for gallons.. so the shelf next to the ice maker is always up..and we cant use it.

Love my new fridge!

We got this fridge on a hot July afternoon, and six hours later it was cold and making ice! Super roomy. We loaded it up and still have room for more. It looks great in the kitchen even though the rest is still getting redone.

Control Panel Faulty- Owners Manual Inadequate

I have owned this refrigerator approximately 2 years. The power to the refrigerator and the freezer has shut itself off twice during this time period. The control panel indicates "OF" for both the freezer and the refrigerator when this happens. There are no instructions in the owner's manual that tell you how to turn the power back on. I called customer service and the tech told me to hold down the "Power Freeze Icon" and the "Energy Saver Icon" simultaneously to turn the power back on. The tech told me to write these instructions down because the Owner Manual did not have these instructions. Luckily I did this so when it happened the second time I knew what to do. The refrigerator control panel seems to be poorly designed and manufactured allowing the power to be shut off purposely, by accident or by defects in the control panel itself. Secondly, the owners manual should have instructions on how to turn the power back on when the power gets shut off for any reason. Evidently this same problem had happened often enough the service tech knew exactly what the problem was and what to do about it. Seems like Samsung should do a recall on the control panels for this refrigerator instead of telling customers to write down instructions for fixing a problem that should not occur in the first place.

Cons: Poor quality

Watch Out! (Other Appliance Companies)

I recently purchased this refrigerator and so far have had no issues with it. This fridge was rated highly by an independent agency and I have to agree with their assessment. I have a family of four and the ice machine makes enough ice for all of us during the course of a day. I had to arrange some items several times since I was not use to "French Door" styles but once I got use to it I find it very easy to get to the items.....we use the middle compartment for sodas and quick pick items and it is very convenient. I am happy with the purchase so far...I think you will be too.
