Wrong TV if quality is your target

My previous TV was a Samsung 50" DLM - which I enjoyed. This last December I decided to finally update and wanted to go with a TV that was a blend of new technology and value. The Samsung UN55C6500VF seemed to be the TV which most closely fit my needs.
The good: the right external inputs, nice styling, IP TV features, DLNA support
The bad: very poor off-angle viewing, No Quicktime support on DLNA (sorry 2TB netdrive w/ all my Sony HD movies...), IPTV picture dropout (to black) if you deviate from the standard Auto Motion Plus settings, distorted gaming playback.
The poor IPTV playback and inflexibility killed the purchase for me. We watch a lot of Internet TV (Netflix, Amazon VOD, etc), and having jittery, blurry playback was not acceptable at the price point.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Did not meet expectations, jittery iptv playback, poor off-angle viewing
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Samsung 6500 Series

I've had the TV for just about a month now and can't say enough wonderful things about it. The picture is crystal clear. When I have company over they often comment about how life-like everyone looks. Like me they have noticed things in the background that they hadn't noticed before because the picture is just so crisp. I can't get over the picture and often find myself popping in a blu-ray movie just to see how great it looks on the Samsung screen. I also love the internet feature. I use it frequently to watch programming through the apps on there.
Pros: Built-in speakers, Bright display, Realistic color
I would recommend this to a friend!

Light leakage in corners
on March 1, 2011
Posted by: User6500
There's a lot of visible light leakage in the corners of the tv during dark scenes. It looks like someone is shining a flashlight out from the corners of the tv.
Modifying color, brightness, contrast, etc will ease this effect, but you can't get rid of it.

Beautiful Picture (if not viewed off-angle)
on September 30, 2010
Posted by: SamsungTV
After owning this TV for about a month I have found the picture to be beautiful as long as it is viewed within 30 degrees (left or right) of head on. If viewed from more than 30 degrees off-angle, the picture degrades considerably. Colors wash out and picture quality drops off dramatically. I have spent a lot of time adjusting the set to minimize this with no luck. I also had to turn off the Clear Motion feature (which drops the TV back to 60hz) to eliminate a very pronounced ‘Soap Opera Effect’. Net apps are great, TV was easy to setup.
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight
Cons: off-angle viewing
I would recommend this to a friend!

Issues after 3rd day

Unit purchased on 5/30/10, delivered on 6/1/10, installed on 6/2/10. 6/3/10 unit would not respond to the remote and the light above on/off switch was blinking fast. Called tech support and we reset the remote and no change. Service ticket was issued. I noticed if I press to the left of the on/off switch the light would turn off and when I removed my finger it would return. I have had to start to unplug the unit to turn it off until the unit is serviced.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my fourth samsung television and needless to say this is by far my favorite! The picture quality is absolutely amazing, its almost as if you are actually there (This could be a turn off for some). The sound is whats to be expected with a Tv this thin, my suggestion hook up to AV receiver of some sort. Overall I couldn't be happier with my purchase. Also as an FYI, I still own all the other Samsung Tv's purchased and they still work as if it were the first day I'd bought it. Customer for Life here........

screen uniformity problems

This TV has a great picture when watching with moderate to high ambient light, but shows evident picture uniformity problems when watching in a dark room, especially during dark scenes. The image will show clouds of varying brightness that might be very distracting for some. I do not recommend this product.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is my third Samsung TV and it's definitely the best one yet. The picture is amazing. The depth-of-field makes you feel like your right in with the action. I ordered it on-line and it came securely packaged and was a breeze to set-up. I also enjoy the Samsung-on-line feature. I can watch Netflix and Vudu movies. I got this in time for the SuperBowl and my guests were blown away, I can't wait for baseball season to start. EXCELLENT PRODUCT SAMSUNG, Thanks !!!
