"Brand New" Faulty Refrigerator Sitting in Garage- TERRIBLE!

After saving up and waiting for a few years, we finally purchased this refrigerator to replace on older one that had been faltering for a few years. Only 2 months after the One Year Warranty had expired, we began to have recurring problems with the temperature control of both the freezer and the fridge. It began with the freezer items becoming less and less frozen and then began to affect the fridge as well. For the next year, over and over, we experienced this problem- each time we had to throw away all of our food/condiments, unplug and defrost the unit then begin again. At first it would seem to be working for a week or so then the same problem would occur. After a year of this, we gave up and moved our new Whirlpool out to the garage and bought a small fridge we found on Craigslist, just to have something that worked. (We were told by an appliance repairman familiar with this model that he could not guarantee the repair would work). Considering this is a major purchase, I am extremely disappointed that after about one year, it stopped working effectively, which seems to be a common thread in many reviews of this product. To me, this indicates a faulty product and I am wary of paying any more money to repair something that should function properly for years.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Not so good

We've had 3 service calls which cost 1/4 of the original price of the unit, all for leaks.In two prior refrigerator covering 40 years we never had a failure.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My new refrigerator

Nice refrigerator with two issues. The door does not close on its own which was difficult to get used to. Secondly, the temperature control in the refrigerator barely maintains an adequate temperature.

Had trouble with a new Kenmore, and switched it out for this refrigerator. It has not given me any issues or concerns. Refrigerator keeps food/drink cold, although I did adjust the freezer to one level colder for my liking.Not a super fancy model, but serves its purpose.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great refrigerator if you eat more fresh than frozen!

We've owned this fridge for about a year now and really like it. We eat much more fresh than frozen food, so having the freezer at the bottom works perfectly for us. That would be my only warning: the freezer space is relatively small, so make sure it meets your needs. If it does, you won't be disappointed.
