Poor Quality

Quality and Performance is everthing. I purchased this player as my first Blu-Ray player based on the features offered. I specifically wanted the wireless feature. The first night I owned it it would hang up on the Disc menu of Despicable Me. Thinking the Disc was faulty I exchanged the disc for another one. Smae thing with the replacement disc. Another movie woul skip chapters andjump form the middle of chapter to the beginning of the next one. I exchanged it another player the next day and the same thing. It would skip from the middile of a chapter to the beginning of the next chapter on the same movie. I returned the second player the on the third day and selected a different make altogether.
Pros: Style/Design, easy to use, Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

THE GOOD AND BAD

Picture and sound reproduction quality is excellent, alot of extra features if you want or like that stuff. DVD up-conversion is good to excellent. Load times are adequate to good, menus are a bit clunky and slow however. The big issues...1080P mode causes bad problems on my unit. Ive read several other posts with similar issues. On any source that is not a blu ray movie, 1080P mode will cause a violent flicker, where 1080i will not. 1080P on many blu ray titles will skip several chapters erratically, forcing you to skip back and fast forward past the break point.
Terribly frustrating. No issues on 1080i and since it's nearly impossible to really see the difference, I'm living with it, hoping for a firmware update that will correct the problem. LG care has been very good, helpful and thoughtful throughout the process. Would love the product if it would just work as it should.

Not For Macintosh

I bought this DVD player especially for streaming from my Mac. The included software is Windoze only. I cannot find software to access the BD570 from my mac.
The interface is clunky.
The remote is horrendous. The Up Arrow and Music ID buttons are so close together pressing the right one is a 50/50 chance. Same for the Down Arrow and Title Popup.
As a straight DVD player it works fine, but I already had one. Streaming was my motive for buying.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

My new toy!

I love this player!!!
It has everything I was looking for so I don't need my pc connected to my 42" LG LCD TV!
It basically plays everything I have on my network, excellent multimedia device!
Once you join your network It automatically searches for media files, awesome!!!

Decent Blu-Ray Player

I bought this blu-ray player when I first got an HD-TV and I have to say I am fairly pleased with it. It seems the updates at times are a little slow and every now and then a disc takes a little longer to load but it plays blu-rays with high quality audio and video. It's pretty easy to use and the internet features are great.
Pros: easy to use, Features/Settings

I've had my BD570 for about a year and have been very happy with it. The quality and features are great. I use it for Netflix more than anything else, but BD discs play great of course. I wish it had Amazon Instant Video service, but maybe that'll come someday with a firmware upgrade. Other than that I couldn't be happier.

I purchased this Blu-Ray player to compliment my new LG LED T.V. It gets the job done by playing Blu-Ray movies in stunning quality. However, my main issues are: 1) The processing speeds are very slow. 2) The interface is cumbersome and pails in comparison to the interface on my T.V., especially when it comes to controlling Netcast. 3) It does not automatically start your disc where you left off when you hit "Stop." It reloads from the very beginning. The netcast capability on this is redundant and not as good as my TV, I should have paid more for a better quality player without Netcast features or WiFi.

No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
