I have had 2 4500's before this one...and the only reason I have changed is that I just a greeting card program and mail them....no problem at all for a long time on the first one, two years, i think, but the second one about a year...and each time I had to change was due to the fact the printer would what I call "eat my envelopes"...I would have to work to get them unstuck, etc....so I ordered one from you and after the first envelope went through, the second one stuck.
But I love the printer...have enjoyed them very much, but got tired of having to unstick the envelopes..one of you reps I talked to asked me how many do I print. I told her it was only 6 or 7 a month...so it's not due to over use..so I have no idea why it did that way...

Product info says nothing about Power Save Mode which apparently has caused grief to many folks and the HP response has been to do nothing. Great example of a feature which keeps the basic product from working and should be left out. So far mine seems to work OK but leaves me worried it will lock up and I won't have a fix for it. See the HP forums on this product before you buy.

Works with Linux

Bought this for a second computer, I already have this model working fine for over a year now on my Linux (openSuse) / MAC computer cluster.
For the money and my light household use this printer has been excellent, which is why I bought a second of the same model for the Windows machine.
I had a Lexmark (which as a brand, does not support linux) attached to the windows machine and had nothing but problems getting the brand-new OEM print cartridges recognized as full. The printer always complained I was out of ink regardless of reality.
Printers have always given me trouble. I have pitched a few out the window and just got a new one. I generally buy the cheapest printer I can find which must go a long way in explaining my relationship with printers. However, I am quite satisfied with the integration this printer have achieved in my local mixed network. It has worked consistently without drama.
A good buy.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great all in one printer

I highly recommend this printer. I had an HP before, it just got old and out of date, so I upgraded to this one. Was so easy to install, could have done it in the dark! Very quiet and fast. Love it!!!

This is a great printer. It was easy to set up and is compact. It goes to power save mode automatically but recovers quickly. Starts printing quickly and prints quite fast. The color photo printing is very good and I especially like the 2 cartridge ink system.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Printer easy to use, but somewhat noisy at startup

Overall, printer is an excellent buy. My only problem is that set-up cd did not download "hp Photosmart Essential.msi", preventing me from using scan feature. To scan a photo, I have to first , on my computer, go to start.t/accessories/Paint. and use that program to activate scanner on printer.
I would recommend this to a friend!
