If you print a lot this printer is not good. I do a lot of printing and I go though one tank a week. This printer is costing me more money then my last Canon. I love Canon but the smaller tanks need to go. I have had it since Dec and have already went though over 8 tanks of black ink.
Pros: Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: small ink tanks
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I wanted an all-in-one printer which included a fax. I was also interested in a machine that did not gulp ink like some we have owned in the past. After reading many reviews on line and in a respected consumer magazine, I settled on the Canon PIXMA 870. The 870 does everything we will ever require of a printer. I like the ability to replace only the ink cartridge for the color that has gotten low. I found the setup to be easy. My only complaint is the length of time it takes to finally spit out the first copy after turning it on. Once past the first copy, the speed is great. It takes up a fair amount of real estate on a desk but I guess that is to be expected of a machine that has so many capabilities.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint

My third Canon Printer (of four ink jet printers) over 12 years (not the fault of Canon, mind you). Crisp print performance, faultless paper handling, logically developed and intuitively useful software interfaced well with favorite vintage software characterize this full-featured gem. The large footprint, a quarter of my computer desk area (on which it is not), and weight, ~25 pounds, means uncramped mechanicals and no corner shaving. Did I miss instructions for maintaining/saving the print head for seasonal use? Both previous Canon printers developed clogged print heads from lack of use as a consequence of seasonal use. I hope both north and south printers don't wear out any too soon!
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use, seems bulletproof, separate color ink tanks
Cons: Large Footprint, Heavy/Bulky, small lcd display less useful for photos, removable single print head

I purchased this printer as I now work from my house and am taking a course on-line. I still have not attempted to use the scan or fax feature, but have been extremely happy with the other features used. Find the duplex printing a great asset. I would rate higher if I had time to use the scan and fax, but will not be able to use for a while. I personally have not owned something before that required me to really study how to set-up. I'm use to the plug and go. The set-up for someone who has used newer products is probably easy.

Got this to replace older MFP. Great replacement. Follow the instructions for network setup and it works great as printer and scanner. Does a good job of photo printing as well as general printing. The fax works very nicely. The MP Navigator tool works well for scanning.
Pros: reliable, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use

We have had our printer for a few weeks now. The print quality is very good including photos. It is a quiet printer. We replaced a previous Canon printer and we are very happy with our decision. We are very happy with the duplex printing capability as it helps save paper.
Pros: Compact Design, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: High Ink Consumption

I have never had a canon printer before, so I didnt know what to expect. This is the BEST printer by far!!! I have a home business and I need a reliable printer everyday! I have had it for 2 months now and I've never had a problem. It is easy to use, easy to setup, easy to load the cartridges, and just all around easy to have. I like the fact that its wireless, no cord(USB cable) to deal with. I like that when you go to print, the printer tray automatically opens. It is really quite when printing too. Every option is easy to use. I would recommend this AIO to anyone!!!!
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, durable, Lightweight/Portable, Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
