documentation confusing, printer excellent

This printer is perfect for a home office or for personal use. It's low cost enough that if something really bad happens to it I can afford to replace it. So far everything has worked well. My only complaint is the directions/documentation. This machine is multi-faceted. and it's sometimes hard to find directions for how to do ONE thing, such as scan and save the file, under ONE set of circumstances, such as with a wireless network. If documentation were listed as a separately ratable component I'd give it a 2.
Pros: reliable, Compact Design, Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors, easy to use
Cons: unclear documentation

Not as Easy as It Looks

I bought the Canon because of its document feeder, size, and looks. It looks great on a desktop. However, installing it and using it have been more difficult than I first anticipated. First, I could not get the scanner to work wirelessly. I bought a printer cable and hard wired it to my PC. The wireless printing works great though. Installing the software was a major frustration without the wire. Each time the software installation failed I had to reboot the PC. Operating the unit has been relatively painless. My only disappointment is that I cannot adjust the contrast and pixel strength when scanning non-photo documents. This is a feature I enjoyed in my previous printer-scanner.
Pros: Compact Design, Sharp Tones & Colors, quiet
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup

Worst Purchase Ever

I have had this printer now for 1yr now and I DO NOT LIKE IT AT ALL!!! When you try to print something the ink allert come on and it says that it does not reconize the ink or that the ink is empty when there is plenty of ink I have tride Canon ink and cheap ink and it still does the same thing. So becareful with this printer. When it does print it prints pretty nice.
Pros: Easy Setup
Cons: Slow Print Speed, unreliable, Flimsy Construction
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I just got this printer so I haven't had that much chance to use it yet, but so far, I love this thing. This machine has incredible features for the price.
I love that it has a choice of two document feeders, as I frequently print using 2 different kinds of paper. On my old printer, I was constantly havng to get up and switch from one type to the other.
I scanned a document, and was amazed at the features available like correction for documents that are placed in the scanner at an angle. The quality of the scanned image was far better than I could have imagined based on what I was getting from my old scanner. It was only text with no images, but it was almost indistinguishable from the original.
It does take a few seconds for printing to begin, but that's a minor inconvenience compared to all the other plusses.
Pros: features for the money, print and scan quality, choice of 2 document feeders, appearance
Cons: none so far

Printer constantly drops from the network. I spend 30 minutes troubleshooting connectivity any time I print/scan.
Pass on this printer, do not waste your time and effort.
Cons: Difficult to use, Difficult Setup, unreliable

I bought this Monday at Best Buy - it is now Wedness and I have already used up 2 black ink cartridges.
I had a project that was 1500 text only pages - took 2 black cartridges to produce... YIPPSS!!!
Scanner produces very grainey photo reproductions and is more like photo shop than a typical scanner.

The front paper tray is very flimsey - and the auxillary tray is only for special paper uses and legal size
Pros: Easy Setup, Sharp Tones & Colors
Cons: High Ink Consumption, poor scan quality
