Great Duplex ADF All-in-One for the price! It doesn't do Duplex in one pass (printer flips the document, goes for a second scan) which leads to my papers coming out in a different arrangement than I put them in. But it's a small price to pay.
The printer interface for scanning is a tad bit confusing, but the computer software makes it stupid simple! Wireless networking was simple to set up.
I will admit I don't really do photo printing, but the basic black & white and color printing I have done has turned out fantastic!
The MX870 It doesn't have some of the newer features like quick start and Wireless N, but is reliable and affordable on some major electronics sites.
All in all a winner in my book!
Pros: reliable, easy to use, duplex adf, affordable - great value
Cons: Large Footprint
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall good but wireless frustration

We have been very happy with this printer but twice now on two different PC's we sent a document to print and the printer cannot be found and we have to try to re-connect to our network. Connecting via a cable is more reliable.
Pros: Easy Setup, durable, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: wireless connection - when it doesn't work
I would recommend this to a friend!

High Quality & Loaded w/ Features

If you do not want to shell out for a color laser multifunction, the Canon PIXMA MX870 is the Absolute Solution to your home office needs. It's loaded with almost every feature you could possibly need. To name a few; Auto Duplex, Wireless & other connections, Auto Sheet Feeder, Color Fax, Copy Print & Scan, Borderless Photo Printing, Memory Card Reader, 2 Paper Loaders, Pass Through To Add A Telephone, & Many Customizable Settings. 5 individual cartridges allows you to only have to replace the cartridge that runs out, not the whole cartrige that still has 2 colors in it, saving money & ink. It's a truly awesome deal & as you can tell, I highly recommend it.
Pros: 4-in-1: fax copy print scan, auto duplexing, auto sheet feeder, wireless or wired, load 2 types of paper, borderless photo prints, easy setup & customizable
Cons: slightly slower speed than some color lasers
I would recommend this to a friend!

Worked great, until the heads disaligned

There are some pretty amazing features on this printer. Love that you can print blank staff paper for musical compositions. The ink runs dry pretty quickly, but I have gone for weeks after it told me that the cartridges were empty. We used the printer regularly for over two years before it started acting wonky. Sometimes it would just lock up and need to be rebooted (which also takes a lot longer than it should). Finally, replacing the ink caused one of the heads to be knocked out of alignment. Using the paper-based realign head feature just seemed to make it worse. The cost of getting a professional to look at the machine would have been more than a new printer would cost. (We replaced it with another Canon printer.)

It does the job ok. WiFi set was easy I have had this printer for a while now. I had to buy it in a pinch and it was cheap...that said, I've easily spent 3x on ink since purchase. The inks are small and expensive. Look into a printer's toner yield before making a purchase. The printer is cheap, but they more than making up for it on replacement toner.
Pros: cheap
Cons: toner is expensive

Worst Printer Wireless Joke
on January 31, 2012

This is one purchase I seriously regret making.
I purchased this because it claimed to be WIRELESS capable. It is not. The connection drops repeatedly. In the middle of print job the printer stops and tells me it cannot connect to the printer. Huh? Some days it works sometimes it doesn't even when it shows that it is properly wireless connected. I spent 3hours trying to print something yesterday morning before giving up. This morning the printer woke up and printed the item from yesterday. Again there is no rhyme or reason to when the printer works and the canon updates, software and support sites are all useless.
If you ever want to use this printer in wireless form you will be sorely disappointed.
PS My computer savvy brother has spent time helping me with this issue and told me that this printer is defectively engineered and will never work properly.
I will never purchase another Canon printer.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
