Really Impressed

This is my first Canon Printer and I am really impressed. It was easy to set up and packed with features. Setup guide was concise and showed different variations. Cartridges have built in LED to tell you they are installed correctly. Solid unit. When I first printed, I forgot to open the front panel. I was amazed! The panel opened by itself automatically. These engineers know what they are doing! Copies are crisp and print quickly upon startup. The machine has a big footprint but this is a solid office machine. If you want a toy, then buy a lesser unit from another vendor. To me, this is not a Con. It's what should be expexted with an office machine. I set it up with a Lenovo CPU running Windows7. No problem. Tons of printing options for different projects. I scanned several photos on one page and they can be sent to indvidual files. That is a real time saver. The print head remains while you simply replace the cartridges (keeping the cost low). Haven't had it long enough to judge this type of print system but I guess time will tell. Great machine!!

This is our first multipurpose printer and it is very nice in terms of performance and functionality.
Pros: Sharp Tones & Colors, fast print speed, easy to use
Cons: Large Footprint

The wireless setup and install was very easy and super fast.
The print quality is great for the the new baby pictures; the scanning and faxing is great for work and we can put it any were in the house that has a power outlet.
Now that I have used it, I would have paid twice the price.

Very impressive output

I'm very impressed with the graphics output. I bought this printer to do home marketing for my business. Brochures, logos, business cards. Very happy to know I can get a professional look with this printer at home. The pictures look as good as paying to have them developed. Great!!

Drinks ink like crazy

I purchased the MX870 as a replacement for the MX350, an earlier version that liked quite a bit. Turns out that one of the few changes they made was to use an ink cartridge that is that is 34% smaller. The black ink cartridge on the MX870 prints 324 pages per cartridge while the black ink cartridge on the MX350 printed 510. That's 34% less ink per cartridge in the new printer for the same price cartridge. I would never have purchased this printer if I knew they had changed the cartridge size just to make more money off unsuspecting customers who thought they were upgrading to a better printer, and didn't realize it was a money sink. You've lost my endorsement.
Cons: constantly replacing ink cartridges

Auto Duplex Scanning/Copying

This little unit is amazing. It truly is an all-in-one unit because it does everything. My favorite feature is the automatic duplex scanning. Just throw a stack of papers in the feeder and it does all the work. As a teacher, I constantly need to scan double-sided documents and just for this feature alone, the MX870 is more than worth the money. (Many other manufacturers offer duplex printing on their all-in-ones, but not duplex scanning). I was skeptical because this unit is so inexpensive, but it is a terrific product.
One issue I have read in reviews online is that people have problems with setting up the MX870 on a wireless network. I had no problems at all. It found the SSID, I entered the password and it worked instantly. (I keep my SSID hidden in my router settings, so I made it visible, set up the MX870 and then hid it again. Once the printer has the SSID and password stored, it will work perfectly. If you don’t know what I am talking about, then this won’t even apply to you because most people don’t hide their SSID). It really couldn’t have been any easier!
I also would like to say that I love the scanning software that came with the product. I do not ever use bundled software…until now. It is extremely easy and offers the ability to review and rearrange before saving, and will save direct to PDF. I also tried it with Adobe Acrobat (8 & 9) and Photoshop (CS3-CS5) and it worked perfectly!!
I have been scanning, copying and printing with this unit and have not had even one problem. I have never written an online review for a product before, but this thing is so great I felt like I had to throw out my two cents. Quit wasting time and order the MX870 now!
Pros: auto duplex scanning/copying!

FINALLY a great printer!

After putting up with another brand of printer that wouldn't print envelopes or card stock right, crunched my regular paper, and worked with some programs and not others, I walked into an office supply store and said " I'm here to get a printer that I don't want to throw against the wall " ! The store manager showed me this amazing printer that does everything I want, was a great price, and had a rear feed for special papers and envelopes. It was so easy to set up, and very easy to understand the functions. I LOVE this printer and would recommend it to anyone who needs a printer for home use and prints card stocks, photos, and envelopes.

Awesome Printer

I love this printer. I can print pics from my iphone with a special app. Totally easy to set up, everything works great and seamless. I use it with a mac and it matches everything in appearance and it's high grade of quality.
