Very Disappointed

I received this as a gift. Ive used it for six months and the picture froze. Then it started kicking the dvd out and wouldnt play. I would unplug it and reset it and it would work for a few days. Then it just quit all together. I read reviews on other sites and everyone of them had the same problem I had.

It was great while it worked

I was happy with the BD550 until shortly after the warranty ran out it stopped playing BD disks. Everything else still works fine, and it still plays DVD, just no BD.

Subtitle English

Blue-Ray DVD device didn't have subtitle English from disk with CC. No matter device has setting for it but it was not working. I was very disappointed with it. I notice device is discontinued. It is not fair for me not able to view movie or film without closed captioning. Waste my money and angry.
Pros: nothing

Nice refrigerator.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased this refrigerator to replace a side by side refrigerator-freezer that quit working. I have never had a bottom freezer refrigerator before but never liked the side by side so decided to give this a try. After doing some research on different brands and having good personal experience with LG products I decided on this one, and so far a very pleased with it. I didn't particularly want the stainless steel finish but so far am pleased with the limited amount of smudges and fingerprints that show up on it. The interior portion of the refrigerator seems huge compared to the same cf size of my old refrigerator and the layout is great. I really enjoy the LED lighting. The ice maker works great. I am still undecided about how well I am going to like the bottom freezer. It seems that items could easily get buried and forgotten in the bottom of it. The upper rolling drawer in the top of the freezer is very convenient but that is just a small portion of the total size. The refrigerator is very quiet except when the ice maker dumps the new batch of ice but that in my opinion is to be expected and is not a problem. The one and only issue I have with this refrigerator is the difficulty I have in opening the door. There is such a tight seal (which for efficiency I know is good) that I have to give the door a good yank to open it. I very smooth floors and even with the front legs down solid on the floor it still moves forward over time and I have to push the refrigerator back. I feel that the door should not be that hard to open. Another feature that I like is that it came with a door reversal kit which due to the layout of my kitchen I used. I found it to be very easy to do. Overall I am glad that I purchased this product and would recommend it to anyone wanting a single top door, bottom drawer, refrigerator-freezer

Not an all-in-one solution
on April 25, 2016

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this on Saturday because I wanted an all-in-one streaming device and Blu-ray player. I was using a smart TV for Netflix and Hulu, and a media center TV with a Blu-ray player for everything else. I was hoping this would replace those devices.
The device hooked up very easily. I connected it via cat 5E cable directly to the same router I have my TV and PC connected to. After turning it on, it ran an update and re-started. It has a pleasant and easy to use interface, with a variety of streaming applications that I was interested in trying.
First, I tried to use Vudu. I've never used it before, but since it was the first app on the list, I gave it a shot. It made it as far as the loading screen, but that's where it stopped. I couldn't get the device to respond so I unplugged it and tried again. Same result. I tried it one more time and then I moved on to Netflix.
Netflix loaded fine, but the first show I tried to stream didn't work (Dr. Who, Season 6 ep1). It said the stream wasn't available. I switched to my smart TV and my PC and it loaded fine (Connected to the same router). Episode 2 did load, but the video quality was very poor. It fluctuated from blurry to HD and back again. I tried it on both my other devices and the video quality was fine.
Next I tried Amazon video. This was similar to Netflix, except worse. Not only did the video quality fluctuate, it lost the signal repeatedly, and when I tried to fast forward, the screen went white and the device locked up again. Again, it worked fine on my TV and streaming from a web browser on my PC.
Lastly, I tried to stream an MP4 from my network. I was surprised that it found my server, but for some reason it only shows two folders out of many. I tried to play a number of different MP4s. Only one would play. The others caused the device to display a white screen and lock up. Every time it locks up you have to unplug it. On the one MP4 that would play, as soon as I tried to fast forward, it displayed a white screen and locked up.
While testing this out I switched Cat 5E cables twice. Same result. I haven't tried the wireless yet, but I don't expect a better outcome. I never even bothered to try to play a Blu-ray or DVD. My media PC plays those fine, so I don't need that functionality anyway. I wanted an all-in-one solution and the LG BP 550 has turned out to be a none-in-one solution. I'm very disappointed.

Great! Got lucky and this blue-ray player was bundled with the LG TV I purchased. When it was hooked up, it was a breeze to talk the wife through the options and how to watch her movies.
Pros: Performance, easy to use, Features/Settings, Quality

Great, but needs a few minor tweaks!

Overall I'm pretty happy with this product. It's easy to use and setup. The following are some minor tweaks that would have made it perfect:
1) I have an LG 42" LCD TV; however the bluray remote only allows for channel up/down on the TV - why can't I use the keypad on the remote to navigate channels on the TV?
2) Having a network jack on the back, i kind of assumed this player would be able to receive a video signal over the network from a standard A/V server and/or be able to browse network file shares. For the price, this should be an included feature and should be made available via a software update!
3) In 1080p the bluray menu with it's cubes under water theme is a bit laggy (tolerable, but laggy).
4) Where is HULU support? Also, there should be more integration with other video sites (Fox/ABC/NBC/CBS/CNN/Metacafe, etc.)
5) It's price point should be under $200.
Pros: Performance, Features/Settings, easy to use, software is updated regularly
