Great features - low price

My BD550 is connected to my network and has performed flawlessly since its installation. Highs: low cost, quality Blue Ray performance, quick start-up, Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, and user interface. Lows: dim display with small letters and hard to find front panel On/Off and dvd tray open switches.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great BlueRay Player

This was purchased just to see what was the difference between regular DVD and B-R. Although it was on a clearance sale, I was surprised at the realism of the B-R movies as compared to DVDs. At first I thought it was due to the new TV that was also purchased, but when I tried it on my older Sony Bravia, the difference was there for all to see. The LG player DID show a significant difference in the quality of the video both with B-R discs and with dvd's.
It was extremely easy to setup (I did use an HDMI cord). Only a few button pushes was needed to setup. And suddenly I was emerged into the world of Blueray.
Pros: easy to use, Features/Settings

A Blu-Ray player which won't play Blu Ray discs

I received the players as a gift for Christmas one year. We've had it for about 2 years now.
The interface is poor at best and the included programs are awful(Netflix, Pandora). This is really fine as we just use our Nintendo WII for most streaming tasks.
Recently our player has stopped playing Blu-Ray discs. We put the disc into the player, it attempts to read it for a few minutes, then spits it back out. DVDs still work, but all Blu-Ray discs are a no-go now. The problem started intermittently but now every disc is rejected.
We verified that the firmware was up to date and reset to factory defaults. Nothing has worked so now we are shopping for a new player which isn't made by LG.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Took the DVD player out of the box and within 15 minutes we were watching a movie. Some have reported the update download time was long. Not with me. Update was smooth and quick. The picture is amazingly clear and crisp. I look forward to many years of satisfied service.

I purchased this unit as a package with a 55LE5400 lcd tv. I only own 1 blueray movie and it looks amazing on the tv. When I connected this player to my home network and powered it up, it connected to the web and offered to download and install some firmware updates. Thats very cool since the last time I did that with another brand, I had to compine a cd and install it with some special button press combo.
Its dead simple to use with only two buttons, on/off and play on the unit. The remote offers more options I have not used yet. Nice and thin profile that fits in a narrow shelf space. Conclusion: recomended as a good basic br disk unit.

This Blu-ray Dvd player is a great device. You have a bunch of things you can do with it. Has a direct link for ethernet for internet connection which is very useful. I wouldnt buy a different brand ever again.
