This unit produced a nasty static noise, when connected via HDMI to a LG Plasma set, after 1 hour + of movie watching. In addition, the web services are crippled vrs the BD570, as well as the USB video inputs. Avoid this player.
Cons: Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

The LG blu ray player lives up to LG's reputation of excellent quality at an excellent value. The owners manual is user friendly which makes the online features and the set up and everything that is new and exciting with blu ray easy to understand and use. I'm very satisfied with my first blu ray disc player and happy that I have another LG product.

My second LG Blu-ray

There was no question about it when it came to purchasing a Blu-ray player for our bedroom. After the incredible experience with the LG in our living room, it only made sense on which player to purchase for our bedroom. Great features, incredible picture with gorgeous color. Without a doubt the best money can buy.

all in all a solid player. some basic improvements that would be nice: backside usb connection or a mem card slot. that way you wouldn't have to leave the front panel down to use the bd live and other features that require additional memory.

I connected my blu ray player with an HDMI cable to my LG LCD TV, a very simple and easy set up. When the player turns on, my LG TV automically switches input to HDMI. The player automatically converts wide-screen video to full screen, a somewhat pleasant surprise. When watching standard definition dvd's, the picture looks better than it does on my other non-blu ray players. The only thing I don't like is when selecting chapters, while the dvd is already playing, I can't use the numerical buttons on the remote to select scenes. For example, if I want to watch the sixth clip on a video, I can't push the '6' button on the blu ray player remote. Instead, I have to use the skip functions on the remote. Other than that, I've been very impressed.

What a pleasant suprise. This couldn't have been a better purchase. My first LG product. Easy to set up easy to use Great picture and great features. I've had LG BD550 for about 4 months. No problems. No complaints

netflex problem

All appears to work well after three weeks, except that it will not stay activated with Netflix. Netflix says that the LG blueray player is the problem. I've updated the software to the latest via internet.
Pros: easy to use
