The dishwasher does a fine job. It is quiet. The hidden controls are a nice feature. The controls are simple and easy to use. The lower rack has many adjustable features. The filter is easy to access and clean.
Pros: Performance, Features/Settings, Quality

We've owned this dishwasher for three years. After year one, we had to replace the pump. After year two, the motor. This year? We don't know yet. It went in to be serviced yesterday. I will never, ever buy another LG dishwasher. Period.

The main features that drew me to this dishwasher are its sleek, stainless steel exterior, the controls along the top, the stainless steel interior, and the adjustable top rack. I must admit that the adjustable rack was important to me. The rack does its job, too - lower it for tall stems, raise it for big platters on the bottom. Need separate loads if you have both but that's a rare occasion. Loading the top rack however, takes some getting used to. Glasses clang together if they are not placed correctly. I don't get why the side designed for stemmed glasses has such a deep dip preventing glasses from sitting squarely on the bottom of the rack. If a glass is placed there that is not tall enough to reach the holders, it knocks over when you pull the rack out potentially breaking a delicate stem next to it. The other problem we have had is w/ the soap dispenser. We could not use the eco-friendly powder in the dispenser b/c it kept getting mucked up and would not rinse. So, we just dumped the detergent in the door which defeats having soap for the 2nd wash cycle. We were also surprised to learn that you have to use a rinse agent - regardless of what detergent you use (at least in our area w/ hard water) otherwise, everything spots. Another thing is that without the steam, the dishwasher was beginning to pick up a funny smell. Got rid of it by using ~1/2 up vinegar in the cycle and from then on using the steam option. Seems to have worked. Finally, we have discovered that in order to ensure the dishes get clean, you really have to use the Power scrub cycle and select the steam option. (Note: we always pre-rinse our dishes - force of habit and we still had some dishes come out w/ stuff on them until we used the power scrub). This experience makes me wonder about the "eco friendliness" business. Have we traded one expense for another?

Hidden Controls

Enjoy the product except for one feature that is costing more in energy then it is saving. The hidden control feature is wonderful as little children can not get to them but when the cycle is finished the green light indicator stays on a very short period of time thus my family is putting in dirty with the just finished clean and then they all have to be washed a second time
Pros: Quality, easy to use, Performance
Cons: Features/Settings
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
